When your wearing headphones, and people think its the best time to start a conversation with you.

A grinder for me is that my Uncle died today. He was great, always inspiring, very humble man. He had no children but treated his nephews, nieces etc. like they were his own. The world lost a great man today.

Very sorry for the loss mate.

Sometimes I wear headphones just so no one talks to me.

Actually no I don't but I should.

Just do what I do, and have no friends.

I do that all the time, I only want to talk to a select few friends. Speaking of which, you know what really grinds my gears?

Friends that drift away for getting stoned every single day or getting drunk or the such. I lost all my friends from elementary and middle to smoking, they blow me off all the time if someone is going to smoke them up. I'm part of the 'skater' kids (I ride a BMX bike to get outside the house, not the best place) so everyone looks at us a waste-of-life stoners. I smoke once or twice a month tops, if there's a birthday or a big event, but not to get f@$"ed up. Just to relax a little. My friends do it every day to get as messed up as possible, so we just don't really talk. The biggest problem is the biggest pothead was my best friend since we were babies, we were like brothers, we've always been friends and used to hang out all the time. Now he will still hang out with me, we don't dislike each other, I even took him on vacation with me a few months ago, but he is never around because he just wants to smoke. It has really been bugging me. I have 1 or 2 good friends now and a girlfriend that for the first time I haven't once been annoyed by, fought with, and for once means a lot to me. Someone who is 16 that actually has a personality where I live is rare, and it's a good one. That's all that's left though, and it gets worse every day. I don't know how to feel.

Try to be a bit more open to people. You'll get friends eventually ;) I have problems getting friends too, and only have one or two that really are. I have some that I hang out too but they're mostly just back-up type of friends. And yes, it is a bit hard to find true friends. At elementary there was very few people who shared the same personality as me so I was mostly lonely around that age. I have almost the same problem here in middle school, and it's quite difficult to live through it really. I'm not sure how to feel about it either, like what rb26x said. It's the same situation with my sis.

You guys talking about friends, do you think it may have something to do with a love for cars or videogames. People at my school thought I was boring because I talked about cars and racing.

I've never had one friend in real life, it doesn't bother me too much if I'm honest.. People find me boring, I'm also quiet, shy, and notably taller than most people.

Aww. That's sad.

Aww, I feel so sorry for you, man. It's almost like that for me for elementary, even preschool, so you're not the only one.. I'm quite quiet as well and a bit shy. I'm not sure how tallness gets into this equation, as height doesn't matter in friendship.

@ Bubblebelly

Many people at my school share love for video games, in fact nearly everyone does, but none for cars. It does bother me a bit that no one is a car enthusiast like I am.

One of my (maybe only) good friends loves cars and videogames. I'm not really into games, the only ones being bandwagoning on battlefield 3, and gt, as well as forza a bit. But him and I are the only kids that know as much about cars that we do, he wants an S13 240SX and could describe every part of the car, I want a Z32 300ZX, and am the same. We have very similar taste as well, function>form.

EDIT:@elitedriver123, my sis was always into that stuff, I can relate. She's 20 now, and is starting to realize responsibility exists, so it's starting to fix itself. I know how you feel though.
And @Jai, I can relate as for a while I had no friends, really it isn't worth trying to make friends, acqaintances work fine because it is rare to find a good friend that will always stick with you. My girlfriend had a friend for a very long time that has been talking about her all the time, so now I'm the only person close enough she can talk to. The only time I see it mattering is during adolescence, when you're an adult it's just oh well. Also, it helps to not be a party person.

Letting my sister drive my cars. Love the girl & all, but she always comes back with something messed up. Managed to knee my radar unit back into the dash, so there's 30 minutes wasted getting that piece back out.

Girls are grinding my gears. I'm scared to talk to them. And one of them I really like and she's a friend but I don't know if she likes me for more than that.
Its confusing and frustrating and stuff. Here's the typical stupid High School drama...

Don't stress over it too much.

Don't get a girlfriend in highschool, do what my brother did. Wait till after highschool, find a good-looking girlfriend and marry her. Success. I envy him.

There's nothing wrong with dating in high school. Plenty of people do it. The only problem is how to maintain the relationship.

And I know how you feel too Bubblebelly. I have a bit of problems talking with girls myself. Heck, I stayed away from them at the early years of middle and all of elementary schools

I disagree. Even if the relationships don't last, at least you know what's going on for the next.

My entire school has had children smoking but me and my friends have somehow avoided all of it the entire time. There are 5 of us total and we never did any drugs or smoke anything ever. I am completely against it and I frown upon it. :)

Edit: I never had any real friends before grade 5

I find it so funny. I was the biggest loser at school then my friends helped me become legit! I now have an awesome self confidence! Wahoo for cliche!

I don't think it'd be as much about video games as it would be about cars. I'm a freshman in high school and I'd say probably 60% maybe more of the kids have a PS3 or Xbox. It's rather annoying that there isn't much passion for cars anymore.

I'm not a fan of dating right now, at my school in eighth grade it's that awkward time when the girls have strong feelings for the boys while the boys aren't really feeling "it" yet.
All it ever results in is some kids feeling alienated because their friends are maturing faster while some are alienated because they are ahead.
I hate adolescence

Really? Nice job 👍 My dad constantly smoked when I was young, so I smelled the nicotine nearly everywhere. From the car to even outside. The smell activated a sensation, but luckily I always avoided it. Fortunately he quit a couple of years back. And another fortunate no one smokes at my school except for a couple (one I know does but doesn't show much at school very much -- ironic?). I'm completely against tobacco but I may get to Shem's levels of alcohol :sly: Just kidding :p For some reason though I imagined myself drinking wine/champagne when I'm older.

Thank you! People say it's the best time of your life, but it's just when everybody is ahead or behind, there is no normal, and being around so many people annoys me.

I hate it when I'm watching a film, or some other people near me are watching a film or whatever, and it's in the 90s or earlier, set in New York, or the characters go to new york, and then there's a wide shot of the skyline/cityscape....
Inevitably, one of the jerks watching goes 'oh look, the twin towers'...

I'm not even American or living in the US but it does make me want to bring much pain to people who do that, it's so annoying and stupid, what did they expect? Mentally I'm doing the Yao Ming face+knife.

^They're just pointing it out. Nothing wrong with observing and stating what's there. If I had a house that burnt down 40 years ago and I was watching a movie and saw my old house and someone pointed that out I wouldn't care. But then again its just opinion, some people think 9/11 was an inside job. Who am I to challenge that. Now, my gear grinder? GT4. For the fact that a 130 point A-Spec race can be easier than a 80 point race.

I know what you mean, it's one of my gear grinders too. My best friends have turned to losers this way. They do it and I'm an extreme anti drug/smoke/alcohol person. I hate it all, and I can't stand them. To be honest these days my best friends all live in other countries. :( All on GTP too. :D

What also annoys me, is this!

People change so much you don't know who they are, you try to keep away and they go off smoking and all this stupid stuff. And eventually you have no true friends that are local. No one at my school shares the same interests as me. Can't find anyone who can talk about cars, or music without talking about screamo. That's why I'm here. I hate teenagers because they're so moody. They can only connect with alcohol, parties and drugs. Coincidentally, I refuse to do any of this, because I see it as being stupid.

I have a lot more talents than most people in my school year (not meaning to sound up myself). My Music Teacher told me that my music is the most complex music he's heard from a year 11! I'm happy with that, I sing, which not many guys take seriously. I can work with metal and wood, and draw design work in Graphics. But because I work on these things, people hate me, just because I can't go and see them because I need to get my work done. This year's been a hard year, and there's only two weeks to go. I can't speak my mind at any time because all other people will do is stab me in the back. Even though I've never done anything to hurt them. I don't see why they do this, just because I'm different doesn't mean I'm not human. Why does no one understand!

That and it seems like nobody likes real music. By that I mean its made by real instruments.

Jeez, guys are supposed to like cars. Instead they call them stupid!

Yea, it seems I have way different tastes than most people in my grade. I'm listening to the Rolling Stones and music from Vietnam era while everyone else is listening to that crap hip hop =/

^ Hip Hop often takes a lot more skill than people give it credit for....

What grinds my gears?
When the Ravens lose to bad teams, but win against championship teams....
