It was my impression that Kaz and PD would bring back "the favorites" from the old games. I was actually very disappointed that GT5 didn't have Citta d'Aria, and the Amalfi mediterranean circuit...... I was for sure they'd be included. They're both beautiful circuits and I'm confused as to why they're not in the game. Why spend so much time developing them for GT4, and then abandon them? Sure, Trial Mt, Deep Forest, and Grand Valley are there..... but imho, Aria and Amalfi are way better..... both in terms of technicality and scenery. I used to LOVE watching replays on Aria and Amalfi......

I just don't understand. I love GT5.... but there's just so much I just don't get about this game.

No official reason and you would think it easy to port... I get the feeling we may see them for sale in the future though :(

Seattle imo.

I agree. Citta di Aria and Costa di Amalfi are 2 of my favorite tracks in GT4. I wish they were in GT5. I also really like George V Paris and Hong Kong.

We still have the Nurb for a while, isn't it?

Im sick of Grand Valley and Trial Mountain, and Suzuka is plain boring.

Its bad enough that so many tracks were left out, but the least PD could do is give an explanation as to "why". They're obviously aware of this, so the least they could do is shed some light on why they made the decision to drop so many tracks. We GT fans tend to be very loyal, we deserve some type of answer.

Infineon and Midfield are my 2 favorites in GT4 that didn't make the jump.

I've got a good wild guess on why the good tracks are not in GT5. With over 30 tracks with realistic graphics that took months to make as realistic as possible. They did not have enough time to get to, or at least not get a chance to finish some of the tracks they planned to have released.
If they had more people to make those tracks while other employees work on other tracks, millions of gamers would have been more satisfied than they are now.

Polyphony may have wanted each game to have an individual feel. Some games, like GT2 and GT4 have unique circuits; GT2 has Red Rock Valley, Tahiti Road and Tahiti Dirt Route 3, Pike's Peak and Grindlewald where GT4 has Citta di Aria, Costa di Amalfi, Opera Paris and Georges V Paris, Hong Kong and the Cathedral Rocks rally stages. I guess it adds a little bit of replayability and longevity to the games.

That is kind of flawed thinking. A series like this should build off the past. Also, they gave us all the old standard cars back, so why would they have a different philosophy on the tracks?

On that note - What are GT5's unique* tracks?

Cape Ring, Indy, Daytona, Madrid, Rome, SSR7.... Ummm, any others?

*unique as in "never been in the series before"

Tracks take more time to create than cars (of course). For a thing that runs on wheels that is twelve feet long and six feet tall is no comparison for land that has a track that is two miles long with a wide open scenery with trees and grass all over.
Do you get what I'm trying to say?

It's just like,
GT2 was the beginning Tahiti, Rome, Midfield, Apricot and dozens more.
GT3, Swiss Alps, Special Stage Route 11 version 2, Complex String, Cote d'Azure and few more.
GT4, Nurburgring, Sarthe, George Paris, Grand Canyon, Motorland, Fuji and many others.

The Eigers, the new Chamonix, Toscana ... it really remains to be seen when gets included in GT6. I wouldn't be surprised if Cape Ring got carried over, given the reception it's getting. And Polyphony have put a lot of work into the long Eiger.

It's a shame they dropped some of them. The Real Circuit Tours event was one of my favourites in GT4; they could have made a Street Circuit Trophy of Paris, Rome (any or all of the three versions), Madrid, London, New York, Seattle, Tokyo R246 and Seoul (which could probably do with a reconfiguration) and Grindlewald.

Ya, but there are 800 cars and about extra 10 tracks that are really desirable. Besides, it seems Laguna Seca, Trail Mountain and Deep Forest are sort of standard tracks anways.

+1

Love both of these tracks. In GT4, I would tune up the old-school lightweights to run these.

How does GTPSP fit in there?

And I don't really buy the logic of "leaving out a bunch of what you liked before is to give you a unique experience", especially when the left out's include some of the noteable fan favorites.

I've never played GTPSP, so I have no idea.

I was wondering about El Capitain, I swear that it was shown blatantly in a trailer, you could very obviously see the iconic snow drifts from offside of the track.

Lack of tracks, events, a-spec feels like its half done.

While there are tracks that I miss from other GT games (infineon raceway) however if they had all the tracks from every GT game and all the new tracks from GT5 then there would be a heck of a lot of tracks...how many tracks must GT have before it can be called done...

I'm not saying your wrong but I think in some ways we all ate up some of our own propaganda on what GT5 was suppose to be....

I never said we need all tracks from all Gt games, there is a huge void of content in A-spec, and the Xp/Credit system is horribly unbalanced.

To me it should have had at least as many tracks (as in unique tracks/venues, not PD's counting method) as GT4. Instead in GT5 not only we've got less of them, but there is also an increase of variants not changing significantly from the "base" tracks, or in other words, not using track portions not in common with other layouts (like Autumn Ring Mini, Clubman Stage Route 5, Grand Valley East, Cathedral Rocks Trail).

I miss El Capitan (Yosemite) :(

Also, miss the test course from a pre-GT4 version of the game. Had a great sequence of blind corners with a continously decreasing radius iirc.

Complex String; GT3?
LOVED IT and I haven't seen it anywhere since :/

I know you didnt say that..however if you look at past talk about tracks for GT5 you heard a lot about GT5 basicly having all the tracks from GT4 and some from past GT games.

Just out of curiosity, how many unique tracks have there been in all of Gran Turismo?

Pikes peak hill climb is the one I really want back
