What have you done to your car today?

JCE: Do you still get smog checked? If not, ditch the smog pump.

They check your tail pipe emissions around here, but they NEVER pay any attention to what's in the engine bay minus where they connect the computer to measure the RPM. I do plan on getting rid of it soon. Since I've done that maintenance I've come to the conclusion that I might get a little more life out of it. But I won't push it. :D

The smog pump doesn't reduce emissions, it just adds oxygen to the exhaust. More oxygen means less CO2, NOx, etc. percentage wise.

And they invariably go south.

Washed my car. It started raining halfway through. I cursed and mumbled a little.

Then I vacuumed the interior and attempted to get a foglight open to replace a bulb... The screws have been ceased together since the car was new, undoubtedly. No luck, there.
So I set the clock on my stereo. I've had the stereo for a year and a half yet haven't yet bothered to set it.

Well this past week a lot has happened to my car.

First I made these deallymajigs

So I could do this

Then I took that nasty fart can off and put on some rare goodness on.

Oh and here is a video of the new exhaust.

Next week I am going to put in my LSD and order a suspension bushing kit because the 18 year old bushings that are on there are a little shot lol.

Does that bumper lip even do anything or is it just for looks? Good luck entering car parks from now on too.

Your exhaust doesn't suit my tastes either but for a 4cyl at higher RPM it sounds OK.

Edit: Have you got a video of the old exhaust for comparing to the new one?

Your 240 looks rugged as. I like it. :D

What are the wheels, name brand goodies or knock offs?

They are August Foerce, well 3 of them are and I have been looking for a 4th but they are so rare that its hell trying to find out anything about them and because there are only 3 I have 1 SSR mesh.

Well it somewhat does I mean the more air that you can keep out from under the car the better.

And I don't have a video of the old exhaust but this is what it almost sounded like.

And the drone was awful

That bumper lip is some rubber from a hardware store. It's a common 240sx mod, and when done right it looks very good for a cheap price. Entering car parks shouldn't be any more difficult than before, except the little brackets might get bent, but that just takes 5 second to bend it back.

The engine is a 2.4 liter, so that might be why it doesn't sound like a typical 4 cyl, since they are generally smaller.

Although I do like the old exhaust better. Where do you work diablo? I can never scrape up enough money to do anything decent to my car.

EDIT: Why didn't you just get a regular "pig-nose" lip from a junkyard or something?

EDIT: You should raise the rear up a bit, or lower the front. It looks a bit weird with the back lower than the front.

Any of those would be probably tricky right now.

Lowering the front would make the lip scrape the asphalt on a regular basis.
Raising the rear would look better, but it would also lower the lip a bit more.
Decisions, decisions... :scared:

Took her for a quick 2 block spin today. Just to make sure everything still works while I patiently wait for winter to finish. Apparently we have another big snow storm coming mid week......

Raising the rear an inch would lower the front a total of like....2 mm or so. The lip is a dime's height from the ground anyway, so I think it already scrapes on a regular basis. It's rubber too, so scraping doesn't really do much, which is part of the benefit of having a insanely cheap, decent looking lip. He just needs to color in the screws/rivets black so they don't show up and it looks 1 solid color.

@ND4SPD: What's wrong with driving it around when there isn't snow on the ground?

While I was out taking photos yesterday, I noticed that reverse was tough to get into, then 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear was really bad.

I ripped open the center console and the shifter bushing had come off completely lol. I popped it back on and everything is fine again

What is the exact part that came off, and where is it supposed to be? I'm not familiar with Miata shifters, but my friend has the same problem.

The bushing, I believe, is that white round thing on the end. I'm fairly sure, anyway.

I know, that's why I said 'a bit', and it also would look better. I'm not a big fan of having the rear wheels trying to hide inside the wells.
And you're right, as soon as he gets the rivets to match the lip, it will look far better.

Hmm? Nothing? I don't think I said anything about that? Infact I only take the RX-7 out when there isn't snow on the ground. The past few days have been so but another snow storm is in the works for us.

The way you posted it sounded as if you car was "in storage" for winter.

If you drive it when there isn't snow on the ground, why did you have to take it out today and check if anything was wrong?

It is in storage for the winter. I try to drive it or just start it atleast once a week. The past week had been nice and the roads were finally dry and nice today so I just gave her a spin. But like I said we have another snow storm coming to us so I can't put her back on the road just yet.

I didn't do anything TODAY but tomorrow or Tuesday I'm doing...

1. Fuel filter
2. Transmission mount & motor mounts
3. Rear end fluid repalcement
4. Transmission fluid flush
5. Clean rims of 10yr old brake dust

:D

pics 'n stuff
Slammed suspensions are awesome. Garden lips are awesome. Straight exhausts?

Awesome. I have one. I like it. And I like you, too. You're my kinda poor tuner guy.

Also, I did some things with my car this weekend. Saturday my front spindle was taken apart, and I replaced the right front wheel bearing. I had two Honda bearings and a Honda hub, so I have the bearing for the other side and the hub just in case it was mangled. I get to return the hub now and get my $185 back woo!

But then **** happened. It's common for the air conditioner's idler pulley to just up and fall off of B-series engines. It happened, just as it did with the Del Sol! But this time it didn't knock off the A/C belt....no....this time it managed to yank the power steering belt off its pulley! Awww HELL! So now I'm rockin' the PS without the P.

Ah well, it's an easy fix. I might buy a belt if I need it, but other than that I'm good to go. I already have a new idler pulley and A/C belt (which is still intact and working :dunce: ), and replacing the PS belt is just a matter of loosing the pump, sliding the belt on, and retensioning the pump.

Damn reliable Hondas...

Oh, believe me, I'm poking fun too.

Also, my radio fuse blew randomly while driving down the highway earlier.

So that's a blown fuse, a broken idler pulley, and a serious lack of power steering, all within an hour of each other. Think something is going on?

I'm glad I can post in this thread again. I just washed my car today. I'm thinking about cleaning out the interior if I get inspired. I sadly can't find the rags and things to wax the car with.

It always makes me sad to come pack to a car that hasn't been cleaned in months and just doesn't seem to have been cared for. How about a splotch of yellow paint that thankfully was washable?

Yea but this doesn't look like it's come off, unless this is an "after" picture.

Eh, whatever.

Yeah, the pearl white part is the bushing that came off. The shot was taken after I put it back on. To be honest, I don't know how it came off because once I popped it on, I couldn't take it back off.

Me and a friend went for a little drive up in the mountains. It was pretty fun blasting through the snow at about 70 feeling like you are in a star field simulator flying past cars going 40. Interestingly, the posted speed limits were about what we were going.

Needless to say, my car is no longer any cleaner than it was before I washed it today.

That is why you will never be as cool as me, fart cans suck b*lls. I work at a machine shop. I get paid $10 an hour

Because its super hard to find a S13 at a junk yard that hasn't had everything taken off already. And if you want to buy one its $100 used.

I will most likely raise the rear up about 5mm and drop the front 5mm, right now the rear is 10mm lower than the front

I know, that's why I said 'a bit', and it also would look better. I'm not a big fan of having the rear wheels trying to hide inside the wells.

Sorry but I must shoot down your suggestion on the lip. For 1 the car just looks mean, 2 how many guys run a front lip with dual rivets that aren't painted to match?

Slammed suspensions are awesome. Garden lips are awesome. Straight exhausts?

Awesome. I have one. I like it. And I like you, too. You're my kinda poor tuner guy.

Well I am cheap when it comes to looks. The exhaust is by no means a cheap set up. Try and look for a Trust DD cat back system... you won't find one and if you did it would be the same or have the history that mine dose.

My number one priority is performance over everything else. And when I am looking for a new part I compare what every one makes and get the best I can with the money I have.

well, drove the 260 miles without a hitch, kinda, the squeeky-brakes-while-not-braking issue reared its ugly noisy head briefly on the way there for a few miles then petered out as usual, seems to happen after lots of braking or a few doses of heavy braking i think..and going soft and earlier on the way back it didnt show itself but thats just a theory anyway
