What have you done to your car today?

Complain. Loudly. And lots.

The wheel may still be salvageable - A wheel repair facility might be able to straighten, patch and refinish the whole wheel (or sell you one that's already been done).

It's a pain in the ass to do it though, I tried for about three months to get compensation when the Blazer bit it in a pot hole. They never did pay because they said I modded the suspension, therefore they wouldn't pay. Still to this day I don't understand how a blown tire could have been saved by having normal suspension when think back to the size of the hole. I hate Michigan's road commissions, they are staffed by idiots...and yes I worked for one for two summers.

It's the government. Of course it's run by idiots. Helping fix the Blazer would have been the sensible, nice and logical thing to do. And we all know how public agencies feel about those kinds of things....

i replaced most of my gearbox

Which car was that on and what happened?
Funny, us Aussies are getting gearbox issues, mine needs an entire rebuild :scared: Over $600 to do, but it's all worth it :sly:

You would think but hey what are you going to do?

But rather than fixing a pothole, they'd rather spend the money creating one in another country.

AMIRITE???

It's incredibly sad, but this man speaks with a great degree of truth. :nervous:

The street is the City's responsibility. And since the interstates are managed by the states, then no, the feds don't manage any streets I can think of, except maybe in D.C.

Anyway, I got a new tire. It's not as cheap as I'd like, being a Continental something or other. I wanted dirt cheap seeing as it's only going to be on for 2 months max.

Made an airbox.

Got my oil changed today, (didn't have time.. I left KC this morning and I'm in Fargo now) and put in a new air filter on Thursday. It's pink and yellow.. honestly.

PB, that's a cool airbox. +air rep. Did you cut up the stock box?
No, I used a big piece of sheet metal, not sure what kind it is (black with a plastic over it on one side, which I peeled off once I finished, and white on the inside) that I pulled out of the scrap metal bin at a local metal working place. I asked them if I could take a few things and they said anything in there is mine to keep. I got myself two 3 by 5 feet sheets of the stuff, not sure why they threw it away, it was perfectly fine.

Anyway I just used that and cut it up with metal cutters and riveted it together.

I still have to make a hole underneath it and run some tubing for air. I'm just choking the engine right now.

EDIT: I have a bumper sticker that says "Stupid ricers, useless wings are for penguins" that my cousin bought me. I didn't want to stick it on my car, so I'll probably be putting it on there.

I changed the transmission mount and fuel filter today. And while it was on a lift I took a snapshot or two:

My buddy Donovan hates it when they make him do mechanical work on his alignment rack. Didn't they have a lift open that you could use?

You planning on running the tube out the front bumper or just straight down?
I'm not sure yet. Out the front bumper is better, but if I drive in the rain for a while or run through a puddle, I could really gather some water in that area, which is not a good idea.

Well if you make sure to put a hole or two in the bottom of the tube for water to drain out, you should be fine.

Well I don't really mean that I would suck up buckets of water, but I still wouldn't like to get my filter wet.

It's just one of those things that REALLY don't mix. Water + Engine = Bad. In any amount.

I adjusted my seat backs.

The vibrations seem to make the bolts come loose, and the seat backs have some forward-back play in them. So I spent all of 10 minutes removing a plastic cover and tightening 4 bolts.

:indiff:

Seats are better now.

Nope, they were all full. :indiff:

=============================
6:16pm

I installed one of these badboys today! Talk about a short distance from air to throttle body.

The sucking noise along with the extra snarl makes this the best $28 I ever spent.

The avian population of my town appears to be targeting me. Damn birds.

It's getting a little past annoying right now. Did some spot-cleaning to tidy the car up, as washing it two days in a row with rain predicted isn't very logical.

I'm about to fit my new steering wheel, pics of the wheel and new interior (thanks to wheel I mean) are coming soon. I've waited so long for this.

Sweet! I was stoked when I got my new wheel on. It's a great feeling. 👍

Literally too. I'm really looking forward to how it's not the size of a truck's (actual truck, like semi-trailer truck) steering wheel like the standard one (is exaggeration). But it will really transform the feel of the interior I hope.

PS- My Ute will be away getting a transmission rebuild half of next week, and I don't want the wheel on til after that. Keep it away from un-deserving hands :sly:

What did I do to my car you ask?

I bought these for $50 for the set.

AND I got a free clear plastic instrument cluster cover that wasn't dirty of cracked. :D
