Is the Filco great 12thgear? I'm looking at picking up a Leopold tenkeyless with browns in December. Would be nice to have some insight from someone who has a very similar keyboard. Is it as good as they say, as a mediate between typing quality and gaming?

Also looking to picking up a computer monitor at the same time. Also, I don't think I've posted this on GTP yet, but I did it about a month or two ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54033868@N03/sets/72157627482350510/
For those who don't want to click/can't, I resprayed my PC case. It's not the greatest job, but I like it. I was getting annoyed with how it looked, and wanted to upgrade. Now I like the case again and saved myself some money temporarily.

I almost went with a Leopold tenkeyless with browns, or a Ducky with browns from eBay. The Leopold looks pretty nice, and I like the detachable, reroutable USB cable. I have read some reports from the hardcore keyboard geeks that they like the key stabilizers in Filcos more than the standard Cherry stabilizers used in the Leopold and others, but I can't imagine it's really that huge a difference. Really the only reasons I went with the Filco were because I've tried one in person and knew exactly how it felt/how it was built, and I got free overnight shipping from Amazon.

Mechanical keyboards are talked up as the end-all, be-all, but they're just really nice keyboards. If you've used them before, you know what to expect. I've had a chance to try various keyboards using a range of Cherry and Alps switches, so when I decided to buy I already knew what I wanted. If you're not familiar, be aware that the key travel feels different, and even a keyboard with browns can still be pretty loud. I like the browns a lot though and do think they offer a great gaming/typing balance. Some people prefer blacks for their linear force, claiming they're more responsive in competitive action gaming, but at my level I didn't notice any advantage.

You can get a feel for Cherry MX blue and brown switches if a store near you carries the Razer Blackwidow keyboards. They have a little window in the box that lets you try the keys. The Blackwidow uses blues and has a tactile click. The Blackwidow Stealth uses browns, that have a tactile resistance in initial travel, but no audible click.

Looks comfy :)

I.. finally upgrade to 6.0.2 Firefox...

Updated some drivers so I could play the BF3 beta. Feels good.

Not really what I've done, but something I found during my day today I found really impressive.

To all you Windows haters out there:

Almost 2 years uptime, and 23 Terabytes of data sent without a reboot. Quote that picture next time someone say Windows is unreliable.

That's a lot of you know what. Or you download 3-5GB(seen up to 10GB for a single day) of data everyday like me(youtubing and playing minecraft).

Only 10? :P I did 30GB+ the other day!

I took my Mac mini apart and cleaned the optical drive lens. It wasn't reading or burning DVD media, and now it works perfectly. These Sony Optiarcs seem especially bad.

Literally just remembered about "Appearance" in system preferences... changed the default blue for highlight to a darker shade of green. Now I can view spoilers on GTP without difficulty.

Tell me about it, my PS3 laser went and also the laser in my Sony Hi Fi both with minimal use... they really aren't the go to people for anything optical!

What did I do today, cleaned the top of the tower because it seems to be a dust magnet (is it anything to do with a mild static charge?).

Currently a good deal on the U3011 here in Aus. (Though still not 'cheap')

My mate just got the U2711 so the U3011 would make him cry.

Must. Resist.

I think my record is around 250GB in a week. Not the quickest speed ever, and the computer was on 24/7. But it was still cheaper that way so whatever.

So I updated my desktop with a brand new screensaver and wallpaper, updated my Paint.NET to the latest version, defrag my disk, clean up my trash can and rearrange My Documents...

Only now I realised my internet data quota has 0/20GB left... Owh hell no!

I use it at home too. It has a bug though, if I'm playing iRacing at the time the screen changes color (around 5:30PM I think) it changes ingame too. So my iRacing has real time weather change!
