What is one thing you hate the most about GT?

Probably the focus on graphics over physics.

I would have to agree somewhat with that. What I dont like about GT lately is the grip, or lack of it in all levels of tires. In pretty much every road car I have driven you really have to get stupid to make the car loose control like the cars in GT do. I know a lot of folks on here like N or S tires, but I dont think they are realistic at all.

Sounds.

The tire model just like DaddyVDUB explained. I think it is the main problem with the physics in the game.

The menu system. I hate in GT5p how you are always backed out to the main screen.

Racing modification, including a well built livery editor.

Trust me you have learned things by doing the license tests, they just aren't obvious.

I agree. I first ran through Gt4 and just got all the licenses with bronze times. Couldn't for the life of me beat the Pro series GT World Championship. Then I got invited to a LAN event, SFGTP5, and went back to get the golds in as much as I could. (fell in love with GT4 all over again) After the LAN event I breezed through the Pro championship and got my first look at the Extreme events.

I still hate driving 🤬 cars in the tests, but at least I realize now that learning to drive a 🤬 car helps me push my race cars to higher levels.

I would hate a livery editor if they added it. For all of the genuinely inventive liveries you see in games there are ten that are absolute tripe.
I have no problem with the variety of cars GT has had however. the Oddball cars have mostly been models that truly defined their respective brands (2CV, the Daimler carraige). I think they are necessary to promote Kaz's vision of an automotive encyclopedia. Show a few examples of the brand's milestones.

Oh yeah, forgot this was a thread about HATE.

The thing I dislike about GT the most is that the AI drivers just drive their line. Whether you are in the way or not. It's like they don't even know you're on the track with them. I have learned a little judicious use of the chrome horn works but then sometimes they just plow right into you and the crazed 🤬 maniac comes out and I run them off the track each and every time I lap them.

one nice detail about prologue if you are online while letting that game idle and show demos it will show other players doing hot laps.

what i would like to see for some modes is practice, qualifying, warm up for some races, rather than the generic rolling start in the middle or last place stuff, and would especially like to see it as an option for online races, at lest qualifying and the actual race. and fuel strategies come into play. huzzah for the f1a removing another fascinating element from formula one racing next year by removing refueling.

what i dislike most about gt is xbots registering to tell us how bad gt is going to be and how much gt fanboys suck. aside from that the rolling start no qualifying races, now for many races in gt thats part of the point to get you to be a better driver is by making you work your way up through the field and improving to get that 1st place on the harder challenges. but in the top tier of racing it would be nice to have some honest to goodness racing weekends, especially if we have a bunch of formula 1 cars and other official racing series supported.

Trust me you have learned things by doing the license tests, they just aren't obvious. It's kind of like school, it's not like one day you just al of a sudden say "hay I finally used that skill I learned in the 10th grade", you just have the skill and use it.

As for leveling up, it is a key part of EVERY game, find me a game that doesn't have levels and you are describing a board game.

I think you're kind of missing my point. I have definitely learned much from Gran Turismo's license tests. They're very useful, but to a degree. Racing techniques will never change. Therefore the same strategies that GT1-GT4 taught me are still applicable today. So I shouldn't have to be re-tested on those strategies in GT5, because I already know them from previous games in the series. Get me?

You're right about leveling up...I guess it's just something I'll have to live with :indiff:

Putners, no damage, not enough european cars, the very little amount of idiotic fanboys we have compared to forza, brainless AI-. That's a little of the full list.

You would like more of that? :odd:

It's so hard to find things to hate about GT, people accidentally write good things about it

I don't want them at all, I hate them, they give GT a bad name, which the Forza fanboys will spread.

I'm not Billy-Bob and I don't have a 12 gauge, but I do have a Grammarhammer.

I know that much of that post was in jest, but make that the last appearance of "txtspk" in your post.

i really dont want to get banned for this and i dont know if im spelling it right but

WOW

now being a moderator, was that a threat? is that in the user agreement? or is it something of a rogue enforcement? once again, with all due respect.

It wasn't a threat, just a warning. By Grammarhammer he is referring to the ability to give infractions (or ban, but I don't think it would come to that) if users don't use proper spelling and grammar to the best of their ability. It just makes it easier for others to understand, especially ones from other countries who have trouble understanding English by itself. Adding poorly spelled words to posts makes it very difficult for non-native speakers to understand your posts.

I hate total progress concentration on car graphics and lack of perfected other features like track and surrounding graphics with many live elements and real imperfections or better smoke, better sound, better tyre physics with tyre deformation, robust online mode with many features never seen before (whole GT mode played against other racers online, for example), simpler menus with car selection possible at circuit and not only in garage etc. Kazunori is a visioneer but only in terms of look. In fact, none of GT games surpasses GT1 system.

now being a moderator, was that a threat?

I don't recall making any threats. Merely instructions.

is that in the user agreement?

There's a link at the bottom of every page on GTPlanet to the Acceptable Use Policy. So... you tell me if it's in the user agreement.

What do I hate most about GT? The sound...especially the screeching tyres which is totally overdone, and in a lot of cases, totally unrealistic.

Sounds... that has to be my biggest complaint with GT. Where are the pops, cracks, and whistles. The belches, squeaks, and squeals. The bleeps, the sweeps, and the creeps... urr, I went to far, but you know what I mean. GT lacks real genuine noise, cars that roar when you step on the go pedal, squeal when mash the stoppers, and pop when you crack the throttle. The insane whistle of a large turbine and the cool sizzle of the blow off valve relieving itself. The pops and cracks of gravel when you slip onto the dirty stuff. You know, all the bells and whistles that really immerse you into a sim. Oh yeah, the engine sounds could be better aswell.

No damage. the enviroment doesn't interact with you like it does in colin macrae where you can bend the barriers churn up the soil. but on the most realistic driivng simulator you can damage your car isn't right they really need to get damage for gt5 it stops people assing around and crashing into you to use you as a brake online.
and retarded penalties you don't only lose time getting back onto the track if you run wide you also get a penalty

good game overall though

The fact that when you cooshe a car, is like that:
"Want to drive this car ?" - Yes
"Are you sure ?" - Yes
"Are you sure SURE ?" HELL, YES !1!

In previous GT, take a car that "match" the others cars in the events are hard, is like, or you take a too slow car, or tune it to be way faster than the Ai cars. But with PP system i think it will be solved, or at least, minimized.
And better mods and livery edition would be cool !

-> What I hate the most about PD's doing? On each Gran Turismo's iteration, they tend to delete and/or not carry over certain cars.

I agree completely with this post. Especially the TRD 2000GT, Lister Storm, BMW 740iL, and every american and european car we have lost on our way to GT4. It's a real shame, since those cars are lacking in GT, and it's horrible to find out they have disappeared in each installation of the game.

Waiting for it to be released on a console that's now 2 years old. o_O

3 years old in just over 3 months to be precise :indiff:

Hehe, I put GT2 into my PS3 lastnight too, and failed miserably to stop the Yaris in the area within the time  . At the moment I'm in denial, it must be something to do with it being on a PS3 that is messing with the timing of the stopwatch or something!

Hmm...GT2 has a Yaris? Is that the same thing as a Toyota Vitz? I don't think we got a Yaris, at least in the U.S., until 2006.

I don't want them at all, I hate them, they give GT a bad name, which the Forza fanboys will spread.

It's true, and sad. GT fanboys do it on the Forza forums, and Forza fanboys do it on the GT forums. Not sure they will ever go away.

The fact that when you choose a car, is like that:
"Want to drive this car ?" - Yes
"Are you sure ?" - Yes
"Are you sure SURE ?" HELL, YES!

I thought I was the only one that noticed this. GRRRRRRRRRRR I hate that. My complaints (only having the game 2 weeks, and being on Class A right now) are:

-no skid marks on the track
-tire squeal
-too many rolling starts
-aliasing
-no damage

I hate that PD left out Grindelwald and RedRockValley after GT2...bring them back in GT5! And if you are at it...Pikes Peak Down-/Uphill please!

GT fanboys > Forza fanboys

j/k

I agree with all points.

I think also, that the game is too "artificial" sometimes. In GT5P there was a change where you saw humans in the pitbox etc. And when you're on track, you see the audience, but no marshalls, people on the pitwall... The atmosphere needs work.

The marshall thing... I think GT needs flags also. Black flag, for cutting off too much, yellow, blue for lapping (solved with ghost thing though, but still)

About the tire squeal, I think they done a pretty good job, but the sound could be better, higher pitched sometimes. I rarely notice tire squeal nowadays, so I guess I got used to it. But you should compare that to a touge movie on YT, with two Honda S2000 GT1's. It's pretty close.

The blops from the engine should be there too. Also backfire, which I haven't noticed in GT5P.

Thanks God they have Ferrari now. Still need Porsche and Lamborghini.

So that adds:
-Artificial vibe/atmosphere
-Marshall/flags
-Exhaust blops/backfire
-Better sounds overall (tire squeal, engine roar)

Maybe we should make one big list, easily viewable (don't know the word). PD looks on this forum now and then, right? We should make a list that makes it easy to llok at at what the fans would like to see (improved) in GT. I think it's a nice idea. :)

And, oh yeah, hate is a big word. Maybe you should change it into dislike. :p Anyway, PD will get the message. ;)
