Phantom clutch was the original name and to this day is called the same thing. That's whe way it's always been.

Seriously though I cannot believe you didn't this if you claim to know as much as you say. Sure looks like it.

EDIT:

No the name covers the whole thing. Everything you do.
👍

And now I'm off (too late here).
Cya (can't wait) :sly:

Oh and trust me, I know Niky and he will be the first to tell you he is not a very experienced person when it comes to these things. He didn't even have a PS3 for like the first year of GT5... You've taken a high school track and field star and compared it to a Usain Bolt.

Please tell me who coined the term phantom clutch and some form of proof? times and dates are there for LC, where's yours now? you expect me to take your word? Phantom light for phantom clutch hey? Good one. I'm sure the people like me who found it the first week of the game and thought 'this is just like launch control' would argue with your 'we've(who are 'YOU/WE' anyways considering most of you probably met on here) called it that since then'. You clearly cannot prove it other than you and your pals ganging up in here to save face against one person that knows his stuff.

Yeah? So? What does that have to do with anything? What he said is true.

The only part that Niky has right is that you cannot have the ideal RPM limiter THAT THE GTR HAS. Launch control has not always been about a set limit people. It's about locking the drivetrain whilst acceleration is applied to the motor. You guys all just watch your top gear vids and think that teaches you everything you need to know. Go buy a BnM launch control kit and tell me what it does? nPlease tell me my old 351 Clevo F100 had a set RPM limiter, oh please do. How big do you want your grave? Because it's getting pretty deep I think...

Better yet, watch this video...

Next question: How many of you are mechanics or work on motors for a living?
Next question again: Are they performance cars or hyundais?

I hate Top Gear. Don't even compare me to that.

Question 1: Yes, I do it every day
Question 2: High performance muscle and high performance off road pickup trucks namely Ford vehciles but I'll work on anything

Next question

Yet you can't spell 'vehicles' right....O.....K.......

Oh, so now you're going to critique my typing too? Get a life bro. No one wants to hear it.

I do this stuff everyday and if anyone knows this it's swara because he's seen my work.

He's tyipng and got 2 letters the wrong way round. Very common mistake.

See you did it too. No big deal.

Just because I made a typo doesn't mean I don't know how to work on cars buddy. I don't even know what kind of relevance that even has to that.

Yeah, that was a subtle deliberate mistake.

Nah just noticed that and thought for someone that 'does it everyday' you'd know how to spell it pretty well by now.

I do do it most days of the week, I'm a contract mechanic that has worked for and continue to do work for the likes of CRD performance, Red R racing, JEM performance just to name a few, I've worked on some world record holding drag cars pal, almost every motor I build is made to take 600+ATW and guess what, I love cars but like most who 'do it everyday' think it sucks, sticking your hands into the proverbial box of feral cats is something anyone with real experience agrees sucks....liked your enthusiasm though.

Are you guys going to hold hands all night?

Simple mistake, my bad. Happy now =P

Yeah I've been doing it for years learning on my own with my dad but I've recently (within the last year) have started taking classes to become "certified" if you will. But I'm no dummy when it comes to this stuff. It's cool that you've worked on world record drag cars but I'm more into hi-po street stuff. You know, street legal. I does tend to get boring and old after a while though but I do enjoy it at most points.

I actually helped my bud build a drag car last winter, '87 Monte Carlo with a 455 in it. Ended up putting out 813hp and 7:36 gears in the rear. Didn't even think about putting any kind of chassis reienforcement (thought it be ok). Made it halfway down the track and the frame twisted, 3 tires on the ground the front left up in the air

Still waiting for the proof that SRF makes cars react different to real life.(yeah because a 900hp GTR doesn't spin any wheels down the strip...riiiiigghhhtt-a)

 You obviously don't know slash...

So you went from questioning srf, to insisting on the existence of launch control to trying to prove you're a world renown mechanic? please dude, stop switching between so many arguments, you'll get dizzy and fall down :)

I'm not sure how you say you're a professional mechanic when you don't understand that Skid Recovery Force ONLY EXISTS IN GRAN TURISMO 5.

I have a spell check on my browser so if I make a typo, it gets pointed out so I can correct it.

It isn't my thread mate. I can only lock my own threads.

Oh ok because i notice daan and mcsoap lock threads and i thought you were an admin too

Sure it spins but not like it does in GT5. GT5's physics weren't made for drag racing.

No, I'm a premium member and so is McSoap. He can't lock threads either. Admins have blue usernames and italics whereas premiums have red names.

 True though. Only in GT5. Real life is simulated with it off.

You can use them at the strip if you want, but I mainly do it for the sheer opwer and bragging rights on the street. Who wouldn't want to do a mega burnout coming out of a red light.

Oh and this stuff.

Dude your questions are a waste of space here, I said prove SRF is unrealistic, they couldn't. I said launch control was in GT5, they said prove it, I did. I asked a couple questions to see who knew their stuff, turned out one is self taught like a 1st year apprentice, the other I found out is 14. Just because I worked on the cars don't mean nothing mate, I'd say 30-50 people have worked on each of those cars alone. But if you're asking, Yes CRD is world renowned, I just wish they'd have given me a full time position.

EDIT: Pfft, I put my old effy through ruts that big and mine didnt have tyres near that size nor was mine jacked that high...

EDIT AGAIN: RLD you clearly have no idea about comparing GT5 to real life nor comparing GT5 physics to real life. Get this through your head. HOW DO YOU KNOW THE TIMES THAT ARE PRODUCED WITH SRF ARE NOT, I REPEAT ARE NOT CLOSER TO A REAL LIFE EQUIVALENT THAN NON-SRF. Did you get it that time? Did everyone else that asked that same question get it that time, do I have to write in big puffy pink font to make sense.

LOL Dude that is NOT launch control. It's phantom clutching. EVERYONE KNOWS IT.

SRF is unrealistic because it provides more grip at the flick of a button. It's like a switch that just magically gives you more grip, without a reason.

Unless you are saying that those grip levels can be simulated in real life, which they probably could be with the right combination and setup. But generally with it off as compared to real life, SRF is unrealistic. But we just want the most realistic setup right now and since it's in the "aids" section we considered it to help. Also the fact there is no way you can simulate G-forces that high IRL with the setup we have in GT5.

Hard pressed to call SRF a cheat when it's an option in the game. It's an option and nothing more. Being unrealistic doesn't make it a cheat. The only way to cheat with SRF is to somehow activate it when it's disabled by the room settings.

Launch Control isn't in GT5 either. That posted video just looks like some kind of glitch or maybe a convenient and unintentional function of the emergency brake.

Why the **** you all continue that meaningless thread!!!
Its different opinions and the worst things is that everybody thinks he is wright

It's been there and been discussed since day dot Exor, It's no glitch, try it...Press the ebrake when your stopped or hold it for a second. Usually you have to be still for a second or two for it to engage but it is definitely meant to be there. You press it once it stays there, you press it again it goes off.

Shouldn't you be busy asking Karo for tunes?
