What is your most dreaded course?

Nurburgring [GP course].

Seriously, I despise everything that Tilke does. I even hate when he breathes.

That's not a popular opinion, but it is one that I share wholeheartedly. I remember thinking I was the only one who despised every lap I had to drive on the Suzuka full course. Tilke's tracks are nothing but a long string of sophomoric tricks thrown at you with zero rhythm or flow. They're not "challenging"; they're just annoying.

I'm not really fond of the other Japanamaniacs' favorite, Tsukuba, but I don't dread it. It's just boring. Oh, look, another second-gear crawl.

I love Monaco/Cote. Despite the compact nature of it, it flows nicely, even though it is an exercise in self-control. I also miss the GT3 version of Rome and don't really like London. I don't mind Madrid.

all the special stage routes (I just am not compatible to the mindsets that join these rooms), followed close by Madrid, and London. The rest blow these out of the water. Nurb for life. I love all the newest tracks, SPA => Brands Hatch ==> Matterhorn!! ==> Willow , and so forth.

I want Pikes Peak to come, to be my Nurb replacement.

Well, it's actually a more popular opinion that what you'd think. Tilke is seriously hated by many circles of F1 fans because of the reasons you mentined and because, adding insult to injury, his tracks, with the help of Ecclestone, are threattening the precense of historic tracks like Spa in the F1 calendar. That said, Suzuka isn't a Tilke design. I acutally like Suzuka even though it's one of the hardest tracks for me. It was actually designed by John Hugenholtz, the same man who designed Zolder and part of Hockenheimring.

Agree on Tsukuba as well. I do dread it because of how boring it is and because I'm never able to nail the last sweeping corner. It's just a crawl between tight corners in low gears. Yawn. Monaco is a completely different story even though it's a similar kind of technical circuit. Plus, Monaco is so full of history and legends that you can't ignore feeling a bit special driving on it...even if you're just kissing the rails all the time .

Tilke DID NOT design the Nurburgring GP track. He only did the 2002 update to it. You know, the really rubbish bit.

As for what tracks I don't like, probably the same ones as everyone else, the ones I'm not quick on!

Wow, I've been under the impression all the time that it was a Tilke design. Who was the culprit of such a crime against the motoring humanity? WHO IS THE TARGET OF ALL MY INTERNETZ RAGEEEEEEEEE????

Huh, I was under the impression that Tilke designed Suzuka. My mistake!

He was around 10 years old at the time Suzuka opened

Would've been interesting if he designed it, I must say

For me it's a toss up among Ascari, Cape Ring and the London track.

When I heard they were making a London track for GT I thought it would be amazing but it's just... boring. The track is kind of there and I kind of drive around it but I don't remember any of it when I'm done. I just don't enjoy driving that track.

Cape Ring is just too fantasy for my tastes, PD if you wanted more original circuits you could have brought back Red Rock Valley or El Capitan.. there was no need to create a whole new track, just dip into your vaults and bring these back.. :(

Ascari.. I had heard of it before GT6 and I was kind of excited to try it out because I'd heard it was designed with lots of famous parts of other tracks.. did they used all of the awful parts of the famous tracks because I don't see it. Like others have said, lots of blind corners.. sadly I don't enjoy my time on the track. Maybe it will grow on me but ugh.. when I first drove on the Nurburgring I was in love. I wish I could feel that again with a new track. Maybe Road America as DLC PD?? :mischievous:

Nurburgring.

Then you clearly don't understand how his circuits are designed.

Take, for instance, his modifications to Hockenheim. They were universally despised when unveiled. However, it is pretty obvious that he was told to shorten the circuit, and more importantly, to use the old circuit as a boundary. Given the shape of the old circuit, there was never much that he could do.

Likewise the Nurburgring GP circuit. He only modified the first sector, and was once again limited by the existing circuit, the pits and paddock, and the spectator facilities. He was not given a blank canvas. He was given a small patch of land and asked to fit as much circuit into it as possible.

People complain that his circuits are flat and boring. When he showed up in Shanghai to design the circuit, he found that the Chinese government had set aside some reclaimed swampland for him. On the other hand, he was consulted on the piece of land to be used in Istanbul and Austin. Is it any coincidence that these are regarded as two of his best circuits, whilst Shanghai is one of his worst?

Even then, his ability to design a circuit is limited. He has criticised the Abu Dhabi pit exit, the one that goes under the circuit, saying it was never his intended or preferred design. Someone evidently changed the plans. Likewise Singapore. The current circuit is littered with pointless chicanes included for the novelty of going under a grandstand, and the agonising Singapore Sling (which has recently been removed). Tilke's original design had none of this. The Singapore Sling wasn't a problem, because the circuit was run in the opposite direction, and the pointless chicanes never existed because that was the main straight and pit lane. After his design was submitted, an American consultancy group was called in. They kept the same basic shape, but reversed the circuit and added a few corners. But Tilke is still credited with the design.

Tsukuba. I don't dread it though I hate it. It's the most boring track on the planet, right, left, right, left, right, right repeat, shoot self in face, (remember the Miata endurance in GT4, that was agony) As far as dread goes, it would have to be the kink at the Goodwood festival of speed TT, the first one after the straight, downhill, with the hay bails on the right. that corner is deceptive and tricky, i never feel good going through there when i make it. otherwise i slide wide into the hay.

On the flip side of the coin the track I miss the most is Sears Point (Infineon). I miss that big old bastard. :( That was the high point of GT4. No idea why they took it out.

Nurburgring. Never have liked it. I think its how narrow the road is. Try to go even a little high speed, your back wheel just touches the grass and slide, spin and crash everytime. I don't know maybe its just me. But I love other tight courses.

The Nurburgring gets my vote...in all the racing games I have played, this track has given me nightmares.....I prefer Circuit de la Sarthe and Spa as they can be conquered if you are patient, but have never had that feeling at the Nurburgring....

I have hated all tracks new to me, until I got the hang of them, with a passion. Desperately.
Only Endurance Race I never finished in GT 5 was the miserable Miata one, Tsukuba, despite several attempts. And I see I am not alone in this. Only race to become boring after two laps.
Silverstone I do not like: flat. Flat. Flat. Flat tracks in general, except Le Mans. Tarmac everywhere, "hey there's some track ...oh ...not that one", blocked, next one?? etc etc.
All tracks with hidden corners often have made me want to break the disc. Racing uphill, a wonderful crest , wheeeeeee ...hey, where's the road??? And I never learned. Well, I did learn, eventually.

The Kart tracks I do hate, with a passion, still. And in particular anything involving later Gold and Silver licences.
I dread them all, I hate a few. I look for the lowest possible PP - an incurable disease caught from the GT5 endurance fora - and therefore I can only blame myself.

I've found there is some tracks that for me slower is faster Monaco is one comes to mind and suzuka. Building speed and lap times as the tracks become easier to see.
For me its more about different corners on several tracks rather then one track. Having said that the ring at night kills me.

The tracks that scare me are the ones with long high speed corners. Ascari has one in the end, Silverstone has a lot of them. It's corners where you have to brake a little or at least lift off and the tires squeak like rubber duckies and you feel like you migh tspin out any time. Always feels like I'm losing too much time going too slow in those coerners

I have some very dreaded courses that I cannot seem to grasp for various reasons. Any help would be very appreciated. I do not know many names of the corners so I'll try and explain them as good as I can:

  1. Nurburgring GP Circuit - I've played this circuit in pretty much any racing game and I never seem to manage to nail that first corner after the straight. It's so sharp it keeps surprising me time and time again! Either I go in way too fast and have to brake hard just to take it at a snail's pace, or I completely overshoot it and barely manage to make it while driving on the outside of it all the time!
  2. Monaco - Almost every corner. Seriously, this circuit kills me with it tight turns and the constant shifting that's required. I just can't drive this circuit fast, it's impossible for me!
  3. Suzuka - For the life of me this is a circuit I just cannot get into my head! I don't know why, but if 'feels' so illogical! I don't seem to get the flow of this circuit, no matter what I try to do!
  4. The Nordschleife - Propably a given but seriously, how do you drive this circuit fast. I manage to nail it, but always up to a certain point. There's always that one time where my back end just barely scratches the grass on either
There's only one answer: Practice.

No matter what we say or tell you to do the only thing that's going to make you better is practice.

When you say tune the suspension, do you have any specific tips? Softer suspension? Anything else?

Lower the center of gravity on the car. Softening up the rear typically adds traction to the back and takes it from the front. There's always this shifting of balance when you're tuning the suspension. Things you do to one end of the car have a profound effect on the other. To get the best balance it takes time testing, adjusting one aspect, test again, make changes based on how the car performs and go from there. There are a few posts in the GT5 forums and detail virtually ever aspect of suspension tuning. If you want a more informed source that would be a good place to start.

I dont "dread" any courses but I dislike:
Fuji GT(love the 90's and 80's versions from GT4)
Rome GT5(loved the GT3version)
London.
And Silverstone is meh, dont mind it but dont choose to drive if i dont need to.

BRING BACK SEATTLE!
MIDFEILD RACEWAY,COMPLEX STRING, TAHITTI MAZE\CIRCUIT , RED ROCK,GRUNDLEWARD, PIKE PEAK,CITTIE DE ARIA?, TEST COURSE, etc.... I could go on, but i can't be bothered;)

bathurst is good in a slower car but hard in a fast one same as nurbergring but ascari is one of the worst to drive flat out

Mt. Panorama, for having you understeer at the chicane after the 2nd straight. I can't tell you how many times I went on the gravel.

Gran turismo arena. Enough said...

Yes!!!!!!! Completely worthless.

If you don't like Monaco it's because your not an F1 fan. Sure it's not fast but it has my respect... and I've been there for real while on a cruise vacation. We drove the route backwards in sightseeing bus and iI was jumping up and down for joy. The others on the bus just didn't understand why I was freaking out.

Wish Homestead Miami was in since that's the only track I've driven in real life.

Madrid, Cape Ring, and Silverstone are all tracks which to me lack atmosphere/personality.

Places like Tsukuba and the Nurburgring are at the other end of the scale, and have been made legendary by dozens of great events in real life as well as in previous GT titles. Nostalgia counts for a lot, which is why a classic track pack as DLC would be so popular.

I did a few laps of Ascari today and I have one thing to say. It looks like a crudely drawn gentle men's sausage. That is all.

London: I will never escape that track, unharmed in my Audi RS4, track is way too narrow!!

Autumn Ring Mini: Not suitable for ANY CAR. The only car that is suitable there is a Go-Kart, or any customized Kei Car. (HAIRPIN GALORE!!)

Cote D' Azur, Monaco: Hard to get a high speed on that track, once i do, I end up wrecking my car, and the only way to get out is to reverse drive, than advance, and there is also one curb, that seems to annoy me a lot, because my car (Ford GT to a Honda Fit) ends up getting stuck on that curb, and the only way to exit it is to floor the gas pedal of the car.

Trial
There's a lot of real world circuits that i'm not keen on but I really don't like driving any made-up circuit, they just suck big time and I wish that every single fantasy and city track would be scrapped in favour of more real world circuits. My least favourite of all those fantasy tracks is Trial Mountain, stinks of arcade racer.

Trial mountain circuit, if your car hits that small hill at the end of the race, you go flying, and tumbling, and you lose the race :grumpy:

GT6 really made me hate Silverstone, too many races on that track :(
