What is your most dreaded course?

I wouldn't say I have any dreaded courses, but I have a few dreaded corners. One that springs to mind is Daytona road course 1st corner, off camber, closing radius, no visable braking point, it has it all. I either brake to late & spear into the sand or up the back end of the cars in front. Or brake way to early & get overtaken by 6 cars!:ouch:

I really can't stand any of the Japanese tracks, with the exception of Tokyo, which is definitely my favourite road course.

If I never had to drive Sucks-uba ever again I would be a happy lass.

I agree about Tskuba. It seems like it is one big hello wall track. I dont care who you are,try driving a Veyron with no aids on that track.

The only part of that course that really trips me up is the Omega section (turns 3+4). Everything else has a wonderful relaxed flow to it. That, combined with the scenery, makes it one of my favorite tracks to just relax and run a few laps on. Hell, even my 1087hp Viper is relaxing to drive there.

Scenery??? It's like they found the bleakest place in the world and thought hey, lets put a race track here....

For me, my most dreaded track and, at the same time, one of my favourites, is the Nordschliefe. I love the combination of slow hairpins, long sweeping corners, fast straights and all the bumps etc that unsettle the car. Get it right and it is the most rewarding track in the game.....but, get it wrong and you will throw the controller in frustration, especially if you are leading the race and then mess up the high speed corners at the end and lose......all that work ruined in the space of 5 seconds. The race I am dreading most currently (even more so than doing the Red Bull at Goodwood) is running the Rain Masters race at the Nordschliefe....the satisfaction of completing it will be immense but the fear of getting it wrong and losing because of one mistake is severe....think I may leave it till last!

A mention also goes to Batthurst...it is an enjoyable track with it's narrow width, technical corners and long straights but it is not very forgiving at times....get it wrong and you are punished but get it right and you have a smile on your face.

Those are the only ones I dread, yet I like both of them for the reasons I dread them. The rest of the courses just don't have that same feeling of "Get it right and grin widely....get it wrong and cry about how life is cruel and how you have to buy a new controller". Let's hope for GT7 we get more of these special "Do or Die" tracks and less of the sterile ones that neither thrill nor terrify
The "Ring" at Rainmasters turned out to be frustrating until I learned to take it easy. You can pass 5-6 cars near the beginning and slowly work your way through the rest. Easy on the brake/throttle will get you through it. I spun out twice and ran off the grass three times and got Gold.....I used the new Stingray for all three races.

It's not necessarily my most dreaded course, because I love it and it's great fun, but Matterhorn is one of the better tracks to show if your car has a tendency to spin out in overt or uneven turns, or under acute breaking. There's two or three particular gradual, uneven, long, slightly banked turns that often have my more finicky cars spinning out on me when I least expect them to.

It's where I experimented and learned that certain cars require a less grippy front type in order to maintain traction (e.g. Medium Front, Soft Rear) and less steering sensitivity (-2 instead of the default 0) in order to tame them and make them more manageable. That and learning to gradually accelerate out of certain corners, far less aggressively, instead of just slamming it down.

Tune the suspension if possible instead of mixing compounds and you'll end up with a faster, more planted car especially in situations where you're not able to mix compounds. Also, if you're running custom wheels there's a bug that causes the rear tire width to be the same as the front. On some cars this won't change anything but on cars where the rears are wider than the fronts it causes massive over steer and instability sometimes rendering the car nearly undrivable.

Nurburgring.

But not the 20 km of asphalt nirvana that's called the Nordschleife, I dread, despise and loathe the hideous track that Hermann Tilke stuck to the Nordschleife. Nurburgring GP in any of it's variations is my most hated track, I just can't take any corner of it without mumbling how much I hate it.

Seriously, I despise everything that Tilke does. I even hate when he breathes.

Did HE do that track?? I just had to look it up. I really, really hate pretty much every track this guy has made, but I have to admit I'm surprised he did COTA because that seems to have turned out really well! And the Turkish GP track too, that one isn't bad. But everything else...aaargh

Gotta agree with this guy ^^^^ turns 1,2,3 Nurburgring (and the final complex of corners at Fuji) are the worst, they're just the WORST. I just found out Tilke did Fuji too...that makes sense

But if I had to pick my least favourite track in the whole game it's the Matterhorn. Seriously, this is a troll track. It's been designed to smoosh cars against very large rocks Man I would like to have heard the design brief for that one
"okay guys what we need is a track 2m wide with 30 direction changes over plunging crests. Also the whole track should be at the top of a cliff. You know, for fun!"
"Can we make the scenery so beautiful that people won't even realise they've sailed over a cliff til they're halfway down?"
"...I don't know who you are but PROMOTE THAT MAN"
*high fives everywhere*

Cape Ring. I still just find it dull and I don't know why. It's got a flip and a loop-de-loop. But there's no personality to it.

Dread the track in events because it just feels like a chore.

Ohh that one is very tricky, set your reference where those barriers that block the Nascar layout start, depending on the speed you're going to the corner, you should brake earlier or (very rarely) later (That's how I do it)

Tilke DID NOT design the Nurburgring GP track. He only did the 2002 update to it. You know, the really rubbish bit.

As for what tracks I don't like, probably the same ones as everyone else, the ones I'm not quick on!

I have some very dreaded courses that I cannot seem to grasp for various reasons. Any help would be very appreciated. I do not know many names of the corners so I'll try and explain them as good as I can:

  1. Nurburgring GP Circuit - I've played this circuit in pretty much any racing game and I never seem to manage to nail that first corner after the straight. It's so sharp it keeps surprising me time and time again! Either I go in way too fast and have to brake hard just to take it at a snail's pace, or I completely overshoot it and barely manage to make it while driving on the outside of it all the time!
  2. Monaco - Almost every corner. Seriously, this circuit kills me with it tight turns and the constant shifting that's required. I just can't drive this circuit fast, it's impossible for me!
  3. Suzuka - For the life of me this is a circuit I just cannot get into my head! I don't know why, but if 'feels' so illogical! I don't seem to get the flow of this circuit, no matter what I try to do!
  4. The Nordschleife - Propably a given but seriously, how do you drive this circuit fast. I manage to nail it, but always up to a certain point. There's always that one time where my back end just barely scratches the grass on either side and that's it. I'm done for. Huge spin, and in real life, going that fast, I'd propably be dead.

There are propably some more but these are tops for me. Any help would greatly be appreciated, though I think practise is key here.

I'd also like to add something to what I said about the Nordschleife. It's the circuit that makes me fall in love with GT6 time and time again. Even though I can't seem to complete a full round yet, it's the excitement or better said the sheer terror of driving this circuit fast. Someone mentioned the bumps that no other racing game seems to simulate this well. Well, I truly believe this person was right, because those bumps scare the hell out of me any time, yet at the same time it gives me a kick of adrenaline to feel that you are truly going faster than you ever did. Too bad I can't keep that up yet, but I'll manage!

I've got a completely badass tune for a Yellowbird that's screaming to be tested on the Nurb, by the way, so if anyone would like to try it, feel free to sign up. I truly believe there are people on this forum that would be able to do some crazy times with this tune, yet I'm not able to do so with my current driving skills. Believe me, it's mental and damn fast, sticks to the ground like a dream come true and I think some of you guys would love it! And I would love to see what other people might be able to do with it!

Edit: sorry for going off-topic in that last part. I'm just brimming with excitement is all!

I don't dread any of the courses. There are some courses which demand respect and full concentration in every corner. Nurburgring is one which comes to mind. My track knowledge is naturally weak with all the new tracks. Braking points are difficult to master on Willow Springs(but many have posted helpful videos) and Super License S-2 Gold is an excellent goal for those who struggle with the track. I golded it but not by more than a second. Going back to the Nurburgring Nordschleife in GT5, I feared many of the corners on that track until I familiarized myself with the racing line and practiced it quite often.

I absolutely hate willow springs... with a few other tracks as well. but willow springs is my least enjoyable

Ascari.

Don't get me wrong, I love the track. It has a nice flow, and it's a beautiful photolocation. Whenever I feel a little bit down all I have to do is turn the PS3 on and take a couple of laps at sunset in my Fisker around there.

But they had to make me drive a Veyron in an unfairly low time around there. My brain tries to forget, but my fingers won't.

When you say tune the suspension, do you have any specific tips? Softer suspension? Anything else?

Cape Ring...
I don't hate it (I used to) but sometimes, just sometimes, I can't do its corners properly once

I dislike Madrid, and SSR5. There's a lack of freedom and it feels as if your wall riding a little with no consequences. Atleast in real life on a street circuit you simply cant touch a barrier or damage your car, in the game your just stuck in that walled in environment with no real consequences if you touch a wall on exit, heck its probably faster to touch a certain wall a little bit on SSR5.

I hate Madrid. The full course. Not the short one. Painful. Ugh!!!
