What kind of headphones do you have? I got my XB 1000's

There have already been reviews that the X1000's feels like it lacks for such a price tag when compared to the XB700s.. What, $249 is it? That compared to $79.
 
For use at home, a Razer Orca headset I won playing StarCraft 2. Nothing fancy, but they are certainly comfortable for long gaming sessions at night. And I kind of like the green...

I'm a Beats guy. The Tours are for working out and other activities. The Pros sound quality is second to none. Some of the best headphones money can buy.

Behringer HPS5000, Shure SRH440, Monster Jamz, AKG K99s and Seinheiser HD 515.

Beats are the biggest ripoffs ever. You get the sound of a headphone half the price. And the quality is crap. They snap or just break in an instant.
 
Well the Pro's actually don't sound objectively bad, but when compared to offerings at a quarter of the price that can equal or better it, it's terrible value for money. The Studios and Solos are abominations in any price category though.
 
Sennheiser HD-580 Precisions.. had them for years and they need new cables as they drop out intermittantley.

Also Bose IE's, but I should just throw them away, they're great, but a cycling accident means they don't work properly anymore!

The Solos I can attest to; it's the set that my dad has and while they look fairly stylish, the sound quality is way off my Sennheisers which I paid half the price for. The bass overpowers everything else and yet even that's not really well defined.

If they lack anything, its a power supply and there are tons of portable amps at reasonable prices. If the numbers are correct then there is no reason why they should lack anything sound wise, or build wise. Like i said, ill post how i feel about them when they arrive.

These guys know. I'm not a huge audiophile however I have a very rich friend that is.

He had a discussion over headphones recently and basically said what was said here.

This dude has 14k dollar front speakers. He is super serious about sound. As well highly intelligent. I take his word to the bank.

What you guys say is opinionated simply because you don't have a pair. Also saying that the make quality is bad is total crap. I've had these since they came out and they're still good as new.
 
Yes, i'm opinionated against them because I don't have them. Not because that they are terrible value for money or that there are better offerings out there for a third of the price. /Sarcasm.

I've spent over $600 on headphones and accessories past and present, now if beats were any good I'd have a pair. Except they aren't. What you're doing now is defending your purchase, and trying to convince yourself (rather than me) that you've made the right choice.

And, to be frank, you probably would make a $500 purchase with minimal research about other headphones out there. Because if you did, you wouldn't have Beats.

(unless you were thinking about Bose, which would have been made researching deciding between the lesser of two evils, rather than finding out new products.)

Glad they work for you.

The headphones these guys speak of are way out classing the Bass Freq's I put up. However bass bump per dollar these are miles ahead of anything else.

Honestly everyone should spend 30 bucks and grab a set. The bass alone make anybody into music smile.

Its not a competition, if they work for you and they sound like the best headphones money can by then that should be enough. Why would you want to make yourself feel bad for a purchase. I just spent 300$ :lol: (and i feel great!) on the XB-1000's. If i really do think my ipod isnt pushing them enough to make me happy, then i probably will drop a 100$ more for a portable amp. Probably the FiiO E7, did some research at another forum, and if i need it ill buy it.
 
You like them? Good for you. But there are options that can outperform it for less, that have been out for at least half a decade, and that you'd probably like more than the Beats. If you judge a headphone by it's brand and name then you haven't really thought too much into it.
 
Just read through the thread - there's some pretty good stuff here. Surprised that I'm the first Pioneer guy though!

I use a pair of SE-CLX7s - they sound amazing for earbuds and cancel out virtually all the background noise. I can easily distinguish the highs, mids, and lows, and they balance the sound very well. My only complain is that the left and right cords are of an unequal length, but I can deal with it since they sound amazing.

It's all good man! Glad you like them. I used to like the phones I had until I got my HD650's. Now that I know how much music and sound I was missing, I don't like my previous headphones anymore. I will keep them around for the studio, but I won't personally use them unless I have to.

If noise cancelling is your thing, then the beats or the Bose may be your thing. I have a buddy that games exclusively with some Bose because of the noise cancelling quality and the fact that they are so light, he really likes them. I think they're ok, but again, after hearing my current setup, I wouldn't waste my money on them or suggest them to anyone else UNLESS their need fits it.

Aye, I have 2 pairs of Shure headphones.....can't stand the 210's and have no idea why I kept them but I really like the SE 530's.

I tend only to use them on public transport so I like the small foamy ear plug type as they seem very effective at blocking out noise even if it's a bit of a faff squeezing the foam into your ear and wrapping the cable over and then behind your ears. No need to crank the volume up any louder than I want the music to be just so I can block out the bampots talking mince on the bus into town:tup:
 
For Beats owners:

1) Find a song in FLAC.
2) Get another pair of headphones that are in the price range of the beats that you have.
3) Compare the audio quality
4) Go cry in a corner about why you fell for mainstream popularity.
 
Koss Porta Pro - the old blue model from before the "more colours, less sound quality" era.
Koss The Plug - from 2002, the note above also applies to these.

I never believed people who said that the older models sound better, I thought they were trying to value their own headphones. The truth became extremely apparent for me when I bought another pair of Plugs in 2010 - they absolutely suck. With the same earbud parts, attached to the same player, listening to the same song, the new ones have half the bass, half the high tones and a dozen times the tinniness. I don't know for sure what happened but I have a serious feeling that mainstream and mass production did.
 
Well my main headphones are Shure SRH840



I have a pair of of Grado's but I need a repair on these as they have developed a small vibrating in one ear. And I have a pair of Sony in-ear phones for out and about but these are not good but cheap and better than the Klipsh made ones that come with the iPhone/iPod.

Disregard facts, acquire over priced headphones.

Makes sense to me.

It takes about 15 minutes of research to discover names that produce quality products. Or you can go with the spoon feed ads on Beats, which more than half the price is probably from the marketing anyhow. As people have mentioned, there are older options, for less money, with better sound quality.
