Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II
Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) return for one final clash with the Death Eaters and their leader, Lord Voldemort. After being sent on a quest for You-Know-Who's Horcruxes, the trio set out to destroy He Who Must Not Be Named once and for all.

The acting is superb. Ralph Fiennes, who plays The Dark Lord, was amazing. His raspy voice displayed the full, malicious character of Voldemort. When you look at Voldemort, you see a villain. He looks every bit a villain, and you do not sympathise with him.

There are definite tear-jerking moments in this movie. I could feel tears welling up in me when
Harry dived into Snape's memories, and when he met the ghosts of his parents, Prof. Lupin and Sirius Black.

The ending is just perfect,
as Hogwarts' students and staff fend off Voldemort's army.

Personally I'd love it if Harry said when he first met Ron (in the Philosopher's Stone) that he was going to impregnate his sister.

Quite frankly, it is a perfect way to cap off the series. I will be surprised if this doesn't break $1 billion.

Score: 10/10

P.S. I can't wait for the Twilight series' woeful attempt to make a 2-part movie. I bet it will be full of "filler" moments.

You mean like spending an entire year (or 2/3 of the book) hiding in the woods doing practically nothing?

Cars 2: Something different from Pixar but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing I have against it is the age kids need to be to understand the movie doesn't match the target market for Disney's merchandising. 7.5/10

Gnomeo & Juliet: Something light-heart that our whole family enjoyed. Especially liked the Borat looking character. 7/10

Daybreakers (2009)
Rating: 4/5 stars

This movie ended up on our Netflix queue, not sure how but it currently available streaming. My wife and I enjoy apocalypse themed movies and this fit right into the genre. It stars Ethan Hawke, Sam Neil, and Willem DaFoe so right away you can imagine it will be somewhat eclectic. It was an interesting twist combining vampire horror with the latest version of infection related apocalypse films such as "28 Days Later". Expect some gore, and some plot twists. The setting is the near future where vampires outnumber humans and there is a blood crisis as the human population decreases. Some are searching for a cure, others are searching for a blood substitute. It is a perfect mix of action, suspense, and horror with not too much of each to have you laughing at the implausibility, scratching your head, or turning away in disgust.

This. The seventh book was good...for the first few and last few pages. The middle was "Harry, Ron, and Hermione go camping".

I give Transformers 3 a 1.8/5 stars. It seemed to be more of a comedy than an action film. In the battle in Chicago, they show one scene with the transformers fighting, then a few minutes later, they show the autobots trapped, there was a scene missing that shows how they got caught in those wires I think it was. And the Asian guy that is played by Ken Jeong from Community and Mr. Chow in the Hangover 2, thought acting all cool in an action movie would make him cool after being in multiple comedies, but the role wasn't quite a decent job by his part. And another thing that made it terrible was, Megan Fox wasn't in it. Apparently, she got mad at the director from making her look like a sex symbol. I would have thought there would be commercials giving review ratings about the movie, but there are none at all.

Crooooooow

Megan Fox said in a interview that the director Michael Bay is like a Nazi on set but really cool in real life. Steven Spielberg the executive producer heard this and him being super proud Jewish guy called up Michael Bay and said tell Megan she's fired. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I heard they make like no reference to why she's not there and getting recognition like the guy was.

Seriously? Is that true, that's how she was kicked from the movie? Do you have a link that references this?

here are some movies i've seen recently:

why is the picture not showing up ?

Because you linked the google image page which shows the picture in the middle, not the "show image full size" page, which link would have given you this:

Also, watched last Harry Potter. Dark, liked the first few best, but still pretty good.

And, watched Hooper due to a reference to it in Frisky Dingo and a recent exploration into old Burt Reynolds movies (Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, White Lighting, etc.)

Hall Pass
This movie was barely ok. A couple funny parts but overall not that good.

It's there, but it is in one of the painfully bad comedic sections where nothing happens other than Shia running around lamenting his life. It is a one-off joke comment though, so it is easily missed.

Horrible Bosses - (7.5/10)
I have practically given up on seeing comedies in the theater. They are bad 90% of the time now. My wife wanted to see this or The Zookeeper and I know a repeated gag when I see one, so I suggested this one. I had Kevin James or Kevin Spacey. Not really a hard decision there.

Anyway, this was pretty good for fans of stuff more along the lines of Arrested Development. The talent all around was pretty good, although Jennifer Aniston isn't quite convincing as a nymphomaniac. Kevin Spacey truly felt like a psycho, Colin Ferrel was a perfect greedy a-hole, but Jennifer Aniston felt like she was playing a parody of a sexual harassing boss. Spacey and Ferrel did and said things that I have heard behind closed doors, so the idea of a boss that does that openly is not a stretch for me. But I have never seen or heard of a harassment case that remotely resembles Aniston's performance. All that said, she still looks pretty good.

Overall the whole story feels like the Jennifer Aniston/Charlie Day bit was tacked on a bit to add a woman to the film. It's something that gets resolved completely unrelated to the rest of the film. That said, Charlie Day is good and if you like him in Always Sunny you will like him here. He does his role so well that I am almost willing to overlook the mismatched character and story involving Aniston. His involvement with the others is huge and it wouldn't be as funny without him.

I don't recommend seeing a comedy in theaters because I've come to a point where the ticket prices make me want something to be achieved with the theater experience that I can't get at home, and comedies just don't fit well into that. But if you like seeing comedies in the theater then this is one to see. And I highly recommend seeing it at some point.

I'm with you on the comedy genre as a whole. Perhaps I'm spoiled by great films like "Super Troopers" but most of the slapstick stuff out there might be funny to produce, but it isn't funny to watch. It's like an inside joke that you don't get because you don't find raunchy fart jokes amusing.

It seems like there are a bunch of actors out there trying to be the next John Candy....but they lack the lovable stage presence. I'm sorry, but Kevin James is not funny. He is awkwardly lame and his gags should stay in sitcoms where the storyline ends after 20 minutes of airplay. "Hitch" was lame, "Chuck & Larry" was equally forgettable. I thought "Paul Blart" was going to have potential but it fizzled out after 20 minutes. I saw the first 30 minutes of "Grown Ups" as part of a drive-in double header. I've only stopped watching a movie part-way-through twice in my life. That was one, the other was "Dungeons and Dragons" with Jeremy Irons. In any case, Kevin is now on my do-not-watch list so I think you made the right choice picking Horrible Bosses over Zookeeper.

I took a trip to Blockbuster just the other week. First time I'd been there in years. Got a couple movies I wanted to see, but one stood out. Nowhere Boy, great movie telling the story of John Lennon's teen years and the start of the Beetles. I wasn't so shocked that I hadn't heard of this movie, living in the US and all.

I also rented Insidious, that was an ok movie, only a few freaky parts.
And an obvious flop was Piranha 3D... Me and my cousin got a good laugh out of it. We knew it was going to be bad just by looking at it.

Nowhere Boy just came in the mail (Netflix). I added it to our queue after seeing a preview about it. I'll let you know what I think.

Fighting (2008)

1/5 stars
Terrance Howard and Luis Guzman could not save this movie. It was just bad. I'd write a more in depth review but I've already forgotten most of the plot.

Stolen

2.5/5 stars
We added this to our queue because it has John Hamm in it from the AMC TV series "Mad Men". It also stars Dawson, I mean, James Van Der Beek. It plays out like a murder mystery spanning two different eras where clues from one missing child case could help solve another. The concept was good, the acting was OK, but the story line got a little thin and predictable. It had my interest until the end but lacked a good finale.

True Grit (2010)

4/5 Stars
Jeff Bridges produces another amazing performance. If the hype for this movie was 5 stars, I give it 4. Acting was very good and the script obviously used lines directly from the book. Some actors did a better job of reciting the proper English than others. Bridges had the advantage of being able to drawl his lines. Picture what "The Dude" would be like if he were a post-civil-war U.S. Marshall and that's basically his role. There was plenty of the Coen Bros dark humor and quick witted interaction between characters. However the final action sequence dissolves into a narrated montage that causes the film to fizzle out. Maybe something was lost in the editing stage...but the film just didn't have all the pieces to be an oscar winning western...like "Unforgiven". My wife and I have seen the rest of the Oscar nominated films from last year and this one ranks toward the bottom of the list.

Last week I saw Transformers 3, don't think I can add anything that has been stated here already about it....

Then it got worse. Last Friday me and the gf go to the cinema and we watched 'Bridesmaids'. I was told that it was like 'The Hangover', but its girls instead of men. Thats fine I thought, I'm not going to be sexist and I think the Hangover films are funny.
It wasn't ANYTHING like the Hangover. In terms of comedy values, MOST of it was in the trailer anyway (which of course ruins it when you know whats coming) except for a couple of isolated scenes. If you've seen the trailer, then the dress fitting scene is brilliant. But youtube it, the rest of the film isn't worth seeing at all. Other than that, its a chick flick and I was mislead.

Moving on from that though, hopefully seeing HP7 (yet to see either part yet!) and Cars 2 in all of its Imax glory!

All publicity for chick flicks wind up with the writer and/or director starting an interview with, "This looks like a chick flick, but it really is a movie that everyone will enjoy." Then you get female news personalities talking about how their husband enjoyed it too.

The new trend is to give it a taboo subject that should catch a guy's attention, like "No Strings Attached" or "Friends With Benefits" when we all know that those movies will wind up with one of the "just friends" dating someone and the other getting jealous. They use sex as a hook but all it really is in the end is a chick flick.

Foolkiller, you hit the nail on the head. My wife, thankfully, hates crap like that. I don't have to sit through chick flicks...but instead I have to endure 3 hour long period dramas. I'm not sure which is worse. I've seen just about every version of Pride & Prejudice and i still have no idea what is going on.

Tick to all of the above, can add film reviews to that as well. Never again!

This should help.

My wife is the same way for Pride & Prejudice. Having never watched more than 2 minutes at any one time, as I understand it, there is some dancing, a Marcy D'Arcy, horses and they talk funny.

Circumstances permitting, I will be in line opening night with my wife for P&P&Z.

Watching Robin Hood (2010). Anybody else notice the reference to seed corn? There was no corn in England in the 12th century, and not for another 3-4 centuries at least. [/inner science editor]

There are plenty more inaccuracies in that film. Overall it was pretty bad.

Sexo, Amor y Otras Perversiones (a.k.a. Sex, Love and Other Perversions) (Carlos Carrera, Ángel Flores Torres, Daniel Gruener, Gustavo Loza, Javier Patrón, Carolina Rivera, Carlos Sariñana and Gerardo Tort) -- A series of six shorts dealing with the above mentioned subjects, Although they seem mainly dealing with sex and have no relation with one another, though they are a bit surprising and sexy in general. The shorts are okay, being explicit but not grotesque, but really meaningful when you take into account that the movie is Mexican and Mexico is usually a sexually repressed country, at least in movies, as is the rest of Latin America, due to the amount of catholicism. It's an okay movie as long as you understand the Latin American humor and keep in mind the movie is mostly chilled out comedy. Still, nothing too memorable. Mediocre acting, average stories and light mood. Enjoyable, but not overly so. 5.5/10

I watched Harry Potter 7 - Part 1 last night. Its was ok, on its own its not a great film. The fact it is all leading up to the second part is obvious and should make part 2 far better for it (hopefully!)

I just watched american pie: book of love.. Fricken hilarious and stupid at the same time!

Just watched the restored version of Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS. Somehow I feel its a good film but seeing the opening sequence (SHIFT CHANGE) and the face of Maria(clone) creeps me out.
