What Phone Do You Have?

I think my future phones are gonna be the I phones or Apple ones. I think I read online a year ago that they have a longer shelf life and last up to 5-6 years depending on how much you use it.

I will say, the old LG phone just took a .177 pellet, which broke the sound barrier, and it didn't pass through or even dent the back. 😀

I’ve got old worthless iPhones also but, not going to try those just yet.

Changing out my S9+ that i've had for more then 6 years for the Galaxy S24. Bought the new one at 50% off retail, which is insane pricing here.

I have a Samsung Z Flip 4 since 1.5 years now. It's decent but not great. Samsung's Android is driving me nuts sometimes. My previous phone is a Huawei P30 Pro, which was much better. I miss that. I still own it as a backup and wouldn't mind going back if my Samsung fails, but it's no longer getting security updates :/

Yeah, I own a Samsung Galaxy S7 plus, it's about 4 years old. See we let the battery get to 50% and then charge it. They said if you let the battery run down to 0%, the phone won't have a long life-span.

Recently picked up a OnePlus Nord 4. It's an upgrade from the original Nord I bought about 5 years ago. Very pleased with the new phone. It's nice to have a phone with fully metal shell again.

Out of interest, any one who has got a S25 Ultra, how do you find the speaker quality? I got mine just over a week ago but only got around to setting it up yesterday. It sounds quite a bit worse than my S23 Ultra. It has like a tinny sound to all voices, sounds quite low quality. Everything sounds shrilly, even notification sounds sound bad. I wonder if that is just how they are or I just got unlucky with a faulty unit. Seeing some posts online, there are users complaining about quality but there are people that are happy with theirs saying it is a big step up in that department.

Only problem for me is I ordered the 1TB Jet Black version from Samsung direct and it has been out of stock to even order since launch until today when they have finally got a delivery date of 24/03/2025 so over a month away so not sure if worth the hassle of potentially waiting over a month for replacement if it sounds just as bad / get unlucky with a faulty unit again if that is what it is. Best case scenario, a software update can fix it if it is a bug that is making everything sound low bit depth. Might just go back to the S23 Ultra.

We're looking for cheap reliable Samsung Galaxy smartphones, we'll have to get them at a Verizon store, sometime soon. One that you can make phone calls all over the U.S., storing and taking pictures, texting, and streaming music.

I heard nothing but bad things about S25U. I'm using a S23U right now and I have no plans to buy a new one anytime soon.

Should we get a Samsung Galaxy A16? They're selling them at our local Verizon store for $300. I'll see what other cheap smartphones they have. Ours is over 4 years old. We bought our Samsung Galaxy S9 at Walmart for $800 in November 2020. What good reliable phones do you guys have that me and my mother can research and look into getting?

That seems absurdly expensive for a Galaxy A16? Are you sure they weren't suggesting an A26?

I picked up an Honor Magic V2 for pretty cheap (relatively to folding phones) a few months ago. I use it for some work tasks when not in the office or at home and it also means I don't have to take a tablet with me as often as I used to.

I went for the V2 over the V3 for the simple reason of price, the V2 has more performance than I need it to, but was around £500 cheaper. Both were significantly cheaper than respective Samsung models. Although Samsungs OneUI is definitely a leader for phone UI, the Magic V2 isn't that far behind, so given the over £1000 saving in cost, I can live with the difference.

We called Verizon back the other day and the woman said that they had a Galaxy A16 on sale for $160 plus tax. We're going to buy it in the next 2 weeks, she said it's on sale until the end of the month. You can still get online on it and save/store your pictures on the phone which is what we want.

So we now (wife & I) have iPhone 17’s and I’ve just updated our mobile contract. We’re on unlimited data, calls & SMS which was £25 per month, however that came to an end this month, so I was looking to drop the cost. Three gave me the same plan but for £15 per month with the obligatory increase next year and the year after but not at the same crazy prices of a new contract. So even with two years price increases it’s only going to be a max of £18.

Is signal of Three good where you are? I think them not having 2G and then cut off 3G had a bad effect on their coverage. Maybe Vodafone merger will help things in the long run for them. EE tends to have the best coverage and speed. If you wanted to have unlimited data without being in a contract and no price rises, the cost of two sims should be £33.75 on 1pMobile (EE network) with BROOKES25 10% discount code. Thought I'd mention it in case you are still in cooling off period. However, I do understand though there is benefits of being on contracts for improving credit rating and sometimes using for identity proof.

Yeh the signal is pretty good where I am.

I had a bad experience with EE some years ago and would never go back.

I recently bought a 128GB Pixel 9 Pro on clearance, upgrading from my old ZenFone 9.

I broke my rule of doubling storage with each upgrade, which I'm already starting to regret - but I couldn't stomach paying over $1k for a phone (particularly with news of Google blocking side-loading soon).

I also felt some slight regret not buying a 10 Pro on sale, then saw reviews of the battery life somehow being worse than the 9 Pro - that combined with the capacity being capped after 200 charge cycles got me to scramble and buy this.

So far, I've been quite happy with this. I thought I'd hate how basic the Pixel's software would be compared to other Android skins, but installing Shizuku for better customisation has really helped. I did have to give up gestures though (as they've been broken on third-party launchers for years), but three-button navigation was easy to get used to again.

My Z Fold5's power button stopped working entirely two weeks ago. I was stuck having to use the workaround of double tapping the screen in order to turn it off and on.

So I sent it off to Samsung to get repaired (for free thanks to consumer law ) and was able to borrow an OPPO Find X5 from one of our suppliers for the week.

I learned that I've gotten very used to having a small outer screen. The Find X5 just seemed way too large for me despite it not evening being that big of a phone.

It's probably a good thing because the Fold7 when folded is "normal" sized. Much less of an incentive to upgrade.

Double-tap to wake/sleep is an essential for me, I couldn't go back to a phone without it. For some strange reason though, I can't double-tap to sleep from my lockscreen - the LG G2 could do this 12 years ago, I don't know why Google hasn't enabled this. :banghead:
