What's the current Gr3/4 meta?

So, @Moglet use Tidgney's guide as a base, but, best to figure it out for yourself.

Using his guide it seems I'm already using a fairly quick Gr.3 car (the Lexus RC F) which is good as I get on really well with it. :)

Tidgneys testing is at the upper skill level, and I find it does not 100% translate to my lower skill level... however his comments on car behavior do translate (regardless of the performance achieved), and it helps me choose cars that suit my driving style/habits.

Exactly, I managed to get 2 top split FIA wins in a row last week with the Gr3 Ferrari but there's a good reason why he puts it at the most high risk score possible

For guys lower down the ranks stability on exit is probably the most important thing to prioritise, a car you feel confident going on the power with minimal drama will make you lap a lot quicker than guys slipping and sliding all the time on exit, especially in Gr3. It's only when you reach A or S DR where you'll need to find those last few tenths which forces you to choose cars that don't drive the way you want, but ultimately are a little faster.

Its not viable at the highest level of play though, you adapt to the fastest car or lose in upper S class.
I'm more of a mid-low S class driver that usually has no chance of winning so I've been using lesser used cars as an extra challenge and a form of training. Obviously, this is risky for my DR but there's an extra sense of satisfaction whenever I squeeze out a good result in the non-META car.

But yes, choose the wrong car in a competitive field and you're practically handing away positions before the race even starts.
My .02...
Tidgneys BoP testing is most valuable... "I" think the best part of his testing lies in his comments/critiques on how the car drives, more-so than on the numbers/performance achieved. I honestly believe that anyone (well, at least us less skilled "drivers") wishing to be competitive needs do their own BoP testing. Tidgneys testing is at the upper skill level, and I find it does not 100% translate to my lower skill level... however his comments on car behavior do translate (regardless of the performance achieved), and it helps me choose cars that suit my driving style/habits.
So, the bit regarding "learn"... first, I 100% agree, however, some of us don't have time/talent to truly learn to the point of forming habit, or, muscle memory, so, for those of us with more time restrictions... or even... skill restrictions... you are 100% correct... race the car you are most comfortable/consistent with... because even with the meta car, having a muscle memory mishap will result in lost time, or, a wreck, and, if you're not on track it doesn't matter how meta the car is, you're not going to place well.

edit; to add, hats off to @Tidgney as he is skilled enough to ring the ultimate performance out of each car... which is most interesting to me as he is faster/slower in cars that at my skill level I am opposite... case being 991 vs Aston...
Even so, the 991 is my go to car as it suits my driving style better... I'm faster in the Aston, but more consistent/comfortable in the 991... he happens to have the skill to be faster in the 991... so, obviously, my skill level does not allow me to extract everything out of that car... and while I'm faster in the Aston, I am more prone to make mistakes with it... which Tidgney notes in his comments and has scored it so under the column "Risk Indicator".

So, @Moglet use Tidgney's guide as a base, but, best to figure it out for yourself.
The how on getting the fast times for each car I find more valuable than the final number itself. I just wish I could actually countersteer like he can.

Even the 4c gr4 is competitive nowadays in pretty much every track apart from Monza.

Balance is almost as good as it can get.

I don't think the 4C is very competitive since the last recent nerf, it just lacks the power on the straights now. I rarely see it on the leaderboards either. For that matter I think the Ferrari Gr.4 is a bit anemic on power as well.

I used Alfa on last weeks events after the power nerf and was competitive on both Maggiore west, Brands Hatch and Interlagos with the 4c gr4 on top rooms. Its definitely balanced. You will struggle if you're on traffic cause the car is extremely slow on the straights tho.

I used it too. I think I got into the leaderboard, but I had a bad qualy, after been thrown out of the track. I starterd 11th and it was hell trying to overtake people on the straight. I think I was overtaking 4th place, but I got a 15 seconds penalty for NOT bumping him... after that, all hell broke loose.
