I can't say much about it (lived in Florida for the past 21 years!), but I have experienced it in other climates. (It's amazing how many native Floridians have never seen it!)
I can say this, we get a lot of transplanted people from the Northeaster US (mainly New York and New Jersey), and a lot of them tell me they only miss snow one time a year, and that's Christmas Day.
They say you can't go back to snowy climate after years of not driving in snow, shovelling walks, getting so bitterly cold that you can't stay outdoors for more than 5 minutes...just as I find it hard to comprehend bundling up in clothing all day long.
I went to the Olympic Penninsula a few weeks ago, and it was cold, but not any colder than what I had in Gainesville, FL...hoiwever, there aren't any mountains in Gator City, USA. The mere sight of those snowy mountains, the cold, clean, fresh air and the temperature made me feel a lot more "majestic". With every sight of that temendous range, I understood how awe-inspiring and willing you feel to take on the world at that very moment.
