when entering a corner do you suggest using the hand break or break for a the drift?

I'm not a big drifter, but the technique I use is slowing down, take the corner, steer, downshift & brake to lose the traction. After countersteer & play with the throttle. It make fast & nice drift with low countersteer.

I never really used the handbrake...

don't do this ever again.

i use the brake...that's the more practical one and the one that YOU should use too.

Yeah bandwidth doesn't come free :(

Well i use the good old, regular brakes. 👍

Most poeple here tend to lean towards using the regular brakes then the hand break. (This does not apply to FF drivers,[edit] and some of you AWD drifters)

Please use the search button before posting.

Well said FI. 👍

I never touched the E brake ever... well.. no, ever. I could see it being an issue in FF cars for a big showy drift, but AWD I think you can bias enough to do power over drifts and the likes. I drift, but its speed drifting, and while I do drift FF a little in certain corners, the e-brake seems to murder speed...

haha DR, about that trying to be courteous thing...
In fact i WAS in the other 2 threads but the third thread, i couldn't be courteous anyomore.
You understand right?

Yeah, this guy is... welll yeah..
He has two dead threads now on the LM Impreza that he made back to back, basically asking for settting to handed to him.

I understand your frustration... He has been sent a PM...

both works for me but it seem that the break is better
brake is best! u stop much slower if u use the handbrake. but u can use the handbrake in the en of the turn. just to straight it up. or in the beginning of the turn. but u get less controll with the handbrake.....

no need for ebrake unless your a AWD drifter.. so reg brake for me!

Actually, AWD drifters do not need e-brakes...just only in a couple situations when you want to extend the drifts...but other than that, no e-brakes for AWD cars 👍

When you come too early on a drift than expected or your hit ur brake too long.

It all depends on how you want to drift, if you like using a brake at all, then i'd say most people use the regular brake. Some people ass-drag through corners (FF cars), [no offense] FF drifting is pretty unique (when it's not a powerslide). Sometimes if your'e going in a bit too fast for the ideal drift you might tap on the handbrake (or use poor man's ABS, quick repetative taps on the E-Brake) just to get a bit of the slide going, although this isn't a true drift any more IMO. But then again this is my opinion from my experience, just try out what people having been saying and find what you like best, maybe you'll find something not yet discovered (eh?).

I usually don't use the handbrake at all. To me, it really is an 'emergency' brake. For example, I'll use it if I've been on a really good run worthy of saving for a replay. If I slip up at one point, I might use the handbrake to correct my line or extend the drift. Rhys Millen calls the handbrake the 'Hail Mary Switch.'

When I'm entering a turn I usually make up my mind right there and then if I use e-brake or brake, but lately I've been using ebrake to start my drifts. IMHO brake or e-brake it really doesnt matter if you have the right tires, sims, it loses traction just by turning.

I use brakes. they feel so much more comfortable than the e-brake. i can also perform a better drift when using brakes. only when im drifting with FWD car then i use it, oterwise i use brakes :)

Im an AWD, so both. I use the hand break only in long hi speed corners, like mid field or other places, but in small corners, its faster for me to use the reg. breaks.

yes the brakes give you better control of the slide than the e-brake does, thats on a fr vehicle that is. for AWD drifting i use the hand brake. i would say its all about the preference of the drifter

Depends on the drive train fr you should almost always just use break. But sometimes awd and ff ifyou want can use handbreak. So I use break unless im messing around.
