...If PD are going to keep their fans that they have now, they need to stop dwelling on GT5 which was a huge disappointment and start working on GT6.
Speak for yourself - I don't think GT5 was a big disappointment in the slightest and there are many who will agree with that.

Played this game pretty much every day since it came out - very few games can do that. Just get together with a good group of players and it just keeps on rolling.

I can't find an image of it, but at E3 Kaz promised things like Livery Editor, Event Editor etc. on a slideshow and these things are no where to be seen in Gran Turismo 5. That alone is a disappointment, and even if you disagree with GT5 being a disappointment, it's a fact that Kaz himself admitted that he wished he had more time to work on GT5, clearly indicating that Kaz thinks he could have put more into the game.

I remember that. It was a list of things he'd like to see, but admitted before launch that some of them weren't possible.

It was TGS 2006, if that makes any difference. :)

But yea, a few of those goals have yet to be met. Still waiting for coloring/livery editor. A license plate editor would be cool, too (as seen in the pic)!

Team builder + club builder sounds interesting too. GT5, why did you fail so hard?

I think we will have it in a month or so.

No brand new tracks. (Maybe a track from GT4 or GT-PSP.)

About 5 cars of which 2 will be cool (including at least one Ferrari), and 2 will be "advertisements" of normal cars where the car company paid PD to stick the car in the game.

P.S. I think that kind of advertising is devastatingly effective, because I am getting a CR-Z, which is never advertised and I would hardly have known about it without GT5.

This is priceless...

Gran Turismo forums - "Are we even going to get anything?"

Forza forums - "Okay, we know the release date of every monthly DLC, lets try and guess what's in the upcoming pack"

Team builder and club editor? I think I know where forza got that from now lol

Hence why we've not seen a single update or DLC avaiable for download from PD for a while. If they are going to get GT6 ready as soon as possible then they need to shift more of their focus onto the game currently in development.

Maybe GT6 will be GT5 repackaged with a number of the things on the slideshow pictured above..

Now that would be cool and mean a closer release timeframe than some think :D

Seems plausible but they would be a laughing stock in the gaming community.

I'm sure the comment would come up. "So this is GT5 with the extra 2 years of dev time you wanted and it's a stand alone title"?

I would just like to have the Vegas strip to finish off this game, but don't go and do something PD-esque and just make it one player.

I've been playing GT5 everyday since launch up until GT Academy a few months ago and I think it's safe to say that GT5 is OVER. I dont think there will be any new updates other than the tired old "catch the leader through a field of rubbish AI"... Also, even if we get any other dlc it will probably be some pointless Subaru re-badge of the Toyota-86 or a Nissan leaf or Juke or some other meaningless crap. I've never felt dissapointed with GT5 until now... Seems like PD just quit on the updates and dlc and said "nahh, let's just put this on GT6"

Perhaps we will not got another DLC, BUT maybe we will. Who knows really? Either way, if we get more then PD buys a little extra time for GT6 before people start getting impatient and asking when is release. If we don't get DLC then PD needs to start communicating a little better about progress to keep the fan base interested. Forza seems good at keeping people waiting, maybe for a change PD could learn from them.

Hopefully GT6 won't be a 6 year wait but all we can do is wait and see. Ptience my friends is a virtue!

Correct me if I'm wrong here but, Kaz was quoted last month saying there would be more down loadable content in one of his many interviews.

He has said alot in the past, some of which have never happened. I wouldn't exactly etch in stone everything he says.

He didnt say there "Would", He said He'd try. Large margin of difference I think, plus, if he does release new DLC, he can buy time, but it may also mean less time spent on GT6... GT5 is what happened when he didnt have enough time due to other commitments, you want GT6 to be the same?

Hey guys I'm new at this posting & replying to threads so please bear with me. I'm also new to the GT franchise as this is the first GT I ever bought, so I can't rely on the history of this game as most. But here's my two cents though...

I've been reading through these DLC threads since back in March, and I'd like there to be more variety in DLC's, but to be honest I don't see why a lot more people can't just be pleased with TC cars that are currently in the game? I understand everyone has an opinion, but I'd think that re-modeling a car that is in the currently, to a TC or RM spec wouldn't take as long as modeling new cars. New RM/TC-able cars alone for ME and others would be pretty refreshing, so long as they vary the cars.

Also an Event Creator would be awesome if PD could provide it. Instead of you being able to choose your field of cars from the entire car list, why not choose cars from your garage? Just favorite them kind of like when you want to play in arcade mode. So it'll be like you're racing against yourself in a way, you know?

Little things though could really just extend this game, not just endless car DLC which we would have to wait for so long. Again though I'm pretty new to the posting/replying but will soon learn. Glad to be part of this website finally haha.

Welcome to GTPlanet!

One of the gripes people have is how uncompetitive the DLC as been in comparison to other racing franchises. Yes, there have been lots of patches for GT5. But, these [patches, not paid or even free DLC] have not really added to the track list nor car list. Single player A-Spec is almost anorexic.

GT5 Prologue had a nice influx of cars and a nicely updated version of High Speed Ring as part of a free update. They also added another group of single player events.

@DaveTheStalker regarding the poor DLC. I'll agree that the DLC cars weren't something to get excited for for most, except the Aventador. I'll be honest, I went more crazy when they announced the Golf R/Scirocco R as DLC then the Aventador when it was, ( I'm a pretty huge VW/Audi guy).

Also in comparison to GT's closest competitor, (Forza), you can say the DLC's were poor. I too was kind of jealous of some of their new car additions, but this being the first time PD has done DLC, it hasn't been THAT bad, you know?

I was also thinking of something that could give the game some more life, even extend it some more. How about they do championships that would include the RM & TC cars only? There would have to be some restrictions so you can't just easily beat the AI, but not too much as that you can't even compete without having some fun. They could extend these over at least a month or two if they categorize the cars fairly. I at least would really enjoy it.

Why would anyone buy another dlc from PD? The last dlc was motegi that came out at the end of June. They still have yet to fix a bug so you earn credits for online racing. The bug has effectively killed the track/s as you rarely see anybody racing at motegi online.

People still race for credits?

...and even if you disagree with GT5 being a disappointment, it's a fact that Kaz himself admitted that he wished he had more time to work on GT5, clearly indicating that Kaz thinks he could have put more into the game.
True, but the jury is still out on whether or not that was Sony forcing things through, or PD being unable to meet their own deadline.

Yes and people still expect a bug to be fixed on a track that they paid money for.
I wasn't questioning if a fix would be forthcoming or not - they usually do come with PD.

I was just surprised that people race for credits still, hence the comment.

It's been two months since this interview.

lorddevil6969696: Will we have new DLC for GT5?

Yamauchi-san: Yes, we are preparing new DLC content for GT5. Despite it being a long time since GT5′s release, we have received a lot of fan messages asking about new DLC content. And that display of continued interest is something very important to us.

Ahhhh!!! THANK YOU? For a moment there I thought I was losing my mind. I know for a fact I read right here on GTP a quote from Kaz saying that he was working on DLC's still for this game. :-)

Typical PD cryptic code words.

For the last few weeks we have been getting GT Academy reward cars and a fancy racing' suit. There's our DLC. Many of us ave learned to "expect the worst and hope for the best" when it comes to PD/SONY. With low expectations, it's hard to be disappointed. Nonetheless, hope remains.

At this point, it's best if PD just focus on GT6 or maybe one last DLC.

We need DLC for one reason; to revive our interest in the game. The problem is, even if we do get DLC, not only will it have a high chance of being underwhelming, but it will do little to the game now. Interests from DLC can only last so long.

Best way to get interested to the series again? GT6.

I have a hunch they'll do something big for the 2nd birthday of the game.. Like they did last year with Spec 2.. Makes some sense as to why we havent see DLC for a while... [/speculation]
