I'm sure this has been posted, but I searched and couldn't find it. So...

Gran Turismo 1: This is the one that started it all. Unprecedented racing, exceptional graphics, totally new concept.

Gran Turismo 2: Unfortunately released for PS 1, so it's graphics were so dumbed down that the game looked bloody awful. Had a significant number of cars however, and improvements.

Gran Turismo 3: The first title for the PS2. Graphics were stunning, and many new features added.

Gran Turismo 4: The second title for the PS2. The graphics were equally stunning, the car list was massive. Added such features as the UCD's, Nitrous, Drag Racing, etc.

Gran Turismo 5: The first title for the PS3. This title REALLY showcased the abilities of the PS3. Added all new physics, and damage. Added a full set of online features that were really unseen in the GT series.

Obviously... there are more versions, but these are the main ones. I personally Like GT4 the best, but I can't leave GT5 alone because the physics in GT5 are easily the best.

I enjoyed GT3 the most because it was the last one that focused on fun. The menus were nice and simple, everything made sense, and it was just plain fun.

It also had SSR11. :dunce:

I voted GT5.. technically it is best..

But in reality I enjoyed gameplay of GT4 best.. Still GT5 is better overall for me in the end. Hard to explain...

I fully agree with this.

I still enjoy GT3 a lot, even today. In terms of a fun game, GT3 is best.

I couldn't agree more! SSR11 will remain the best track in the series to me. I was a bit surprised at the result of this poll so far, although I voted GT3 too, I expected GT4 to have the most votes by far.

I voted GT2. It was the only GT game I had until GT PSP. Loved the RM's, variety of more lower-power American cars (Stratus, Avenger, Focus 1.8).

 to the GT series.
I voted GT5 for obvious reasons. However GT4 as a very special place in my heart:)
Never played GT1 or GT2 (too young:nervous:)

GT2 cause race modifications were possible to almost all cars.. + it had aot of cars.. good classic cars asswell

You guys are all making great points. I LOVED GT1 and if you can get a copy of it... imo, it's worth it... the graphics were better than GT2, but I think it will help some of the newer chaps to see how the series got it's start. GT2 was such a disappointment for me... so much so that I actually just didn't play it. TBPH I'm not even certain if I own or ever owned it?

GT3 and 4 were gold though. GT3 was great because it just updated the graphics by SOOOO MUCH, and GT4 was able to add TONS of content (though certainly confusing).

On one hand... I have GT5 which has the updated physics and online capability, buuuut the newfound big brother and 4/5ths of the cars "unfinished". On the other hand, there's GT4 which is basically GT5, with crappier physics, no online, and graphics that aren't as nice, but thats mostly due to the system rather than the game itself.

Hmmm....

Plus money was so easy to come by and there were alot of races. I loved those championship races. The races had restrictions also.

All of the games that make up the main GT series are great, but I stand by my vote for GT4 because I feel that it's the most engrossing GT game to date, thanks to the large number of cars available and a great selection of race tracks. I've spent so many hours playing GT4 since getting it on the day it was released 👍

GT3 was pretty good. I was thrilled for it being my first in the series. It was a little hard for me to come by cars in at first, but I loved the challenge.

GT4 was even better, more cars, events, etc. Found it on sale not long after it came out and immediately bought it. Waant even in the store to buy GT4, but I did anyway.

I voted GT5 because the physics model is superb, the graphics are unreal, and even though there is a lack of events, online racing more than makes up for it. There is so much potential for the game to grow even beyond it's current self. Soooo much fun.

GT3 was the best for me (hey that rhymed). I just remember having the most fun racing my friends on that one. GT4 was almost as good but I remember there being weird irregularities whenever my friends and I would load each others garages, like setting changes and stuff like that.

locked and unlocked

There was one opened not too long ago which has fizzled out.

As it doesnt have a poll and is buried away, I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt and keep it open.

GT5 wins it for me. Interior view + Ferrari, Lambo etc. puts it ahead of GT4 for me. Even though people complain about the AI, it's still better than GT4. And what's the point of 400+ events if, esentially, its the same thing over and over again, aginst the slow(er) AI?

Gran Turismo 4 gets my vote. It had by far the best GT Mode and assortment of tracks. With stupid things like standard cars, leveling and B-Spec mode, along with the lack of that early struggle to make money that is so fun, I can't give GT5 the nod.

Aside from the HP restrictions, almost none of the car-type restrictions actually worked. You could run any car you wanted in any almost any race. People laugh about running a Veyron in the Euro Hot Hatch series in GT5...*every* series was like that in GT2.

On topic, here's my ranking of the series.

5. GT3 - This game just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. Yeah, it was pretty for its time but the massive decrease in the car lineup from GT2, lack of used cars, elimination of descriptions on cars, lack of re-winable prize cars, and what I think was the smallest amount of events to date just kinda added up.

4. GT1 - Started it all, amazing graphics and physics for its time (no car game had come anywhere close). Horrible US soundtrack (especially the menus) hurts it, but otherwise awesome.

3. GT2 - Huge improvement over the first in every way except for graphics and stability. The game had MAJOR glitches/design issues (corrupted saves, units in tuning sections not matching the numbers, wheels clipping through fenders, the above mentioned lack of functional restrictions, etc), but the HUGE car lineup, awesome physics, and massive amount of events makes it worth it.

2. GT4 - What more needs to be said? Massive lineup of cars and events, incredible graphics and physics, the return of car descriptions, little things like photomode, tons of real-world courses without sacrificing the PD-originals, I could go on and on. The only thing I felt the game was missing was race modifications that effectively doubled the roser back in GT1 and 2.

1. GT5 - This was actually a very close decision between GT5 and GT4 for first place. The physics, insane detail on premium models, overall car lineup, and all the little touches (expanded photomode and B-spec, special events, seasonal events) won it the top place despite the games negative issues (which to me are very minor).

The best Gran Turismo is easily 5. That's because it's the one in my machine. It would be 1 if it was in my machine.

GT4

Played it for years.
I played GT5 for a month. Still hoping it will get better with offline DLC, but not expecting much.

GT5 has got my vote. I was REALLY fond of GT2 (slipped it into my PSP and travelled with it for many years) but GT5, despite many flaws, is a dream come true. GT has always been about getting as close to reality as possible, and each version has got closer - GT5 is breath taking in so many ways.

GT2 gets my vote because it has the best GT-Mode. GT4 is second, GT3 third and GT5 is about last. It has the best handling but that's all it has going for it. As a sim it's good, as a game it's not.
