There's been a lot of discussion, so lets put it to a GTP poll.

For me, I'm probably going to get the Ultimate Edition, but I'm in no rush so I'll wait to see if its worth it. So my choice is wait and see.

I'm going to wait and see for the PC release, and even then, I still might not buy it. I got bored with GTA V and RDR2, and I can't see VI being any different from the standard Rockstar formula.

I'm not planning on buying it right now. I'll probably check the reviews when it's released and if it seems good I might get it. If the price is reasonable.

There are 4-5 game series left I buy absolutely blind (RIP Uncharted, Need for Speed, Destruction Derby, G. Crammonds GPs):
Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport + Forza Horizon, Wreckfest (with former Flatouts included) and of course Grand Theft Auto. Would've loved to buy a special edition with physical stuff like a model car or figures of Lucia & Jason, but this gets very rare on the games I love (shame on you Gran Turismo or the NFS Unbound joke of physical perks for Unbound).
So I prepared myself in the last weeks with the stacking of reduced PSN cash cards to a 100 € value and was there at noon yesterday to pre-order the Ultimate Edition for a net ~77 €.

I still remember the first time playing GTA 1 with a friend on PSX and the next day the first thing I did after school was the fastest way into the city and grabbing the PC big box version. Still have the game in the CD-case and the paper map but mom got her hands on the box years ago like on many boxes of my 90s games 😄

I think this art design was Germany only for GTA 1? Pics from ebay.

Awesome to see how the art style has evolved.

I'm gonna be waiting for a physical release (coping) because I refuse to support Rockstar's plan of selling this game as a digital-only product. Whether they're doing this to detract leakers or because they refuse to support the used game market, not having a physical disc is offensive in my opinion (exaggerating).

I would wait for a PC release, but that thing isn't coming out for another five years at minimum  and since the Online isn't releasing at launch (and who knows what plans Rockstar has for that mode, the mode that makes them 100 billion trillion dollars), I have no issues waiting to see what Rockstar does near the game's release.

Not that my opinion matters that much tbh--this game is gonna sell a billion copies regardless. It's all just my pride at this point

Im retired so I'm gonna splurge and get the Ultimate Edition. I wouldve liked to have a physical disc copy as well but that's not a deal breaker for me.

I wasn't aware till your post that there ever was a collage style GTA box art before GTA3, interesting stuff. Of course the UK and I think all of Europe got the non standard GTA3 art rather than the now iconic one.

As for GTA VI I will wait for the PC release depending how the game is received. I hope it's not something like 5 years away.

PC release is typically around 1 year after console launch, going by IV, V, & RDR2. From what a former dev. has explained, it's essentially for optimization.

I'll pre-order the standard version, but will probably wait, until November. With it being digital only, there's no rush.

Like any new game that's come out since the PS3 era, I'll wait a few years and then look for a sale. In this day and age, the idea of buying a AAA game Day 1 (or even Year 1) just doesn't sit right with me. Granted, Rockstar is better than most when it comes to releasing finished games without major, game-breaking bugs, but I'll wait for the more adventurous types to find any issues and let Rockstar refine whatever needs refining. It'll also allow me to see what their update cadence will look like and how they choose to support the game long term.

In the meantime, I've got plenty of games in my backlog to enjoy (which will continue to languish while I satisfy my current game addictions).

I will pre-order the Premium Edition, but I have to buy in few weeks before the release day, because I need to save my $100 first.

Yeah, same. I don't understand the point of pre-ordering a digital game so far out from release. I'll probably end up going with the Ultimate Edition a few days before the pre-load date.

I can't wait for this. My co-worker and I are gonna swap a week off in Nov to treat ourselves. Between this and OoT, this fall is gonna be off the rails.

Or Q4 2028 when it's released as "Enhanced for PS6".

Yeah, I’ll wait. Not like the game is going anywhere in the next 13 years. However, I can’t wait to drive and fly and hover and dive through every environment.

Wait and see.

Rockstar & PlayStation as of late have a lot to do earn my money.

NEVER have I ever had a lapse in PS+ going back to PS Qore ~ I let it expire recently as it timed up fittingly.

Been gaming too long. Been in the scene since before even 8bit.

No disc is the biggest thing. Not cliche. Serious.

So, since only Single Player has been announced there is no reason to pre-order an offline story based title. Moronic TBH.

When GTA VI Online is shown and info is confirmed that is where I'll buy.

Fully expect Online to be digital (fair enough as it was never on "disc" and is an online specific game) & a SEPERATE fee potentially.

Which allows me to wait and see if GTA VI Single Player comes to disc.

I've played/bought/upgraded through PS3-PS4-PS5 and have waited this long to play the next chapter...out of principle I can wait for the disc version IF one is to be released later (as suggested but not 100%)

The same logic applies to PS6 to an extent. If it has PS4/5 disc support then I'll most likely get it and be EXTREMELY stingy with how I spend my money digitally and potentially utilize PS+ tiers to maximize offers, games, etc.

Pic to show my collection of launch day release consoles over the past 50+ years (from NES to PS5 Pro ~ these were mostly bought day and date of release live).

This is not a game to me. Extremely disappointing and surprising after all the good will PlayStation garnered during the Xbox game share debacle.

I still don't know which one I should get.

I still find it weird that they locked stuff for the ultimate and if you buy the "physical" version, you won't get the full game.
