Excellent points, I'll no doubt get both the ugly and cheap hardwared Xbox '720' and a OMG elegant and expensive PS4.

Both of these 8th gen consoles are not to be released for a while.

Just like the PS3s prototype controller looked like a boomerang, it was changed so it is like the classic look, the Xbox look may change.

Yeah, things can change pretty significantly, even only a year out from launch.

Example from the concept PS3...

^lol.
It depends on which comes out first and the gap between the release dates.

I didn't have a PS3 until GT5 came out, didn't really need one.

Same applys to the next Play Station, won't get it until the next GT comes out.

I was really boned when it lost so many ports from concept to launch. I think Sony never had the intention to put all those ports on and it was probably just a marketing ploy to calm all the media chatter that it was going to be too expensive. Even in its final state it was over $800!

I mean that thing was going to be a wireless router, have native multi-monitor support over HDMI and crucially have rear USB ports which was the biggest stupidity to not have for the final console.

Although I can't really say seeing as we know nothing about the future consoles I might make a switch.

Funny how the Wii U is not an option in this thread :sly:

Robin.

I'll get neither. I'll always be one generation behind when it comes to consoles. Just got my PS2 last christmas and my Xbox in 2008.

Neither one. The main reason for buying a PS3 was GT5 which turned out to be such a disappointment (an expensive disappointment, I might add) that I'm not going to bother next time around.

Very true.... but I will bother to buy GT6.

Thats 360 look at 720

I don't even think the Xbox 720 has been officially confirmed, neither the PS4.

BTW, trust me, my Playstation has died many more times than my Xbox.

Xbox-1 death
Playstation-3

I'm happy with both, but if were talking cheap hardware, well then the Xbox's not on there.

I used to have a Xbox 360, I bought 1, it died, the next: died. I went through the process like 8 times, but I never got a actually functional Xbox 360 so I ended up getting rid of the last one months ago. My 4 year old PS3 has never had a single problem. Not trying to add to the flame war, but overall in terms of reliability the PS3 is more reliable. Both consloes have there ups and down, but you buy which ever one you think will entertain you more over te consloes lifespan. (by the way, my 10 year PS2 still works great!)

The reason why they didn't release the PS3 the same as the concept version was because it was going to bring up production costs way more than it already was. Each PS3(when it came out) costed Sony $800 to produce, so it costed them more money to make it than what they gained when they sold it. Since more and more devices are coming with a blu-ray reader/burner and the cost of producing them for technology products has gone down it has led me to the conclusion that the PS4 will have multiple outputs and might even be able to output video in 1440p to multiple screens!

Yup, and I understand. It's always the luck of the draw, and sometimes a lot of us will get the worst of it. I know my current PS3 has been going on for 4 years straight now, something my Xbox hasn't matched. Both were worth the money however.

If it was my guess PS4 will not have to wait too long for a GT

Yep. May as well get the rumor mill started early, I suppose.

 well I'm pretty sure it'll be very powerful because Sony invested over a billion dollars to create the PS3, so the PS4 will be a great improvement!

Mainstream graphics cards are doing that (multiple 1440P displays) already.

The real advance in next gen consoles will come in physics and AI.

Personally i would chose a PS4,i prefer Sony over Microsoft just because of the quality.

To be honest we won't be seeing anything at least until 5 or maybe 10 years down the road. The reason i say this is because of Kinect and Move. They plan on seeing how much they can get out of these Add-ons/upgrades before they move on to the next console.Could it be just a fad or something that falls through, they won't know until they ride this out.

5 or 10 years!?! I don't think so....I'd say 2014 at the Latest for Both to come out. Move and Kinect will be compatible with the Next gen Machines I'm sure so that won't be an issue.
