Who cares about sim tires!

Sorry divine, worded that wrong. I meant that if I'm only doing something to impress myself, and I don't care about impressing myself, then making that something more challengeing really makes me angry, and the state of hostility I'm constantly in won't allow for excess anger, hence the exploding and beating anything in sight to pieces. And SD, having T8s up front and T2s in the rear with all brake power up front as well, I find that if you're already turning it kicks the rear out much faster than anything else.

Mixing tires is a bad idea all together, It may seems like things are easier , but all your doing is creating a very unbalanced car and you adopt your style to the way your car moves like that thus creating a false sense of skill and style.

I don't care about skill or style, it looks good so I do it.

Ok, then why to you even post in the drift forums? unless it's to comment on someone elses video?

If you don't care about style or skill...then whatever. I do care about skill cause it that's the challenge. Anyone can just drift, but to drift with total control is something altogether different.

Anyway, if you don't care about skill, why come here?

cauz he got none j/k :D

but isnt drifting all about skill and style?????
if skill doesnt matter, who would you prefer, a guy who took 10 years drifting, or a guy who has 1 year experience drifting? obviously the 10 year guy cauz he has been refining his skill so, more skill = more style hehehe

im think if u cut down on the HP it will be harder to drift with tires other than sims becuase of the grip lvl

I think the fact you are missing is that a newbie with no skill can come along and make a video that really does look nice, albeit with some flaws that the masters can point out. I really shouldn't have said I don't care about style because that is not what I meant. I meant that as long as the replay puts a smile on my face I'm happy with it, I'm not looking to perfect my drifting, I'm looking to have fun drifting.

The Question is: Are you looking to get better. Nobody has a perfect drift. But most of us do our best to be better drifters. That's what I'm saying.

And I've seen noob videos(I"m a noob too) and the majority of the time they are very flawed. Cutting corners, bad exits, not drifting the whole corner, etc.

I like having fun with my drifting as well. But to me, it's more fun ot have better, more controlled drifts. So I guess the point is that if you're not worried about getting better, why give others a hard time that are?

You want to know something funny?

Since I wrote this thread I started to really make an effort to use sim tires and I've found that my drifting has become much cleaner/smoother/longer then before.

So I guess I'll have to do a partial retraction.

I still think that it doesn't really matter what tires you use, as long as you don't mix! But sims will give you those long sweet drifts that you see in the veteran's videos. And that's what I'm looking for! In my book, sim tires are great.

I guess it doesn't matter which setup you prefer, as long as it doesn't look like it's dragging its ass through a corner using e-brake the entire turn then it's a drift

I get long, clean good looking drifts by mixing tires, and my car is perfectly ballanced thank you.

Do me a favor. Drop your attitude. You've already said on more then one occasion that you're not interested in any better skill. So whay even make a statement like that. Seriously. And you car is NOT perfectly balanced. That's an oxymoron. How can a car be balanced with different tires in the fron and rear. I'm not talking like a Porsche where the rear is a different size tire. I'm talking about different tire types.

By mixing tires you have a handicap that will always hold you back from your full potential. but if that's cool with you, then so be it. :yuck:

Ehh... uhm... I think this is a classic case of misunderstanding... I said switch from, not switch to. But you're right on that aspect.

But why drift with any tire BUT a sim? (excludes rally drifting)

I think sim. tires are for the pros....cuzz its hard to handle using alot of hp...."I use sim tires, but only when i lower my hp for my car".

LoL, the first guys says sims are near impossible to drift w/ then the second guy who supposedly agrees w/ him says that sims are for beginners... I reccomend sims for drifting since you want tires that lose traction easily and drirfts look smoother w/ sims.. while w/ other tires w/ more grip drifts usually dont last as long.... But i dont understand how you can agree w/ someones opinion and then contradict it... :dunce:

DarkAzN
heero 12....never mix tires...its dumb
Do I tell you how to drift? No? Then don't lecture me on the subject. Drifting is only something I do once it a great while to relieve the boredom and monotomy of grip racing. I'm not really looking to do anything but pass the time, so I don't care if it looks like a retarded chimpanzee is banging on the controller, I do it because it is fun.

ummmmm... i got nuthing to say to that but...... IF drifting in gt3 annoys you and start banging on the controller i suggest you stop drifting.....

Yeah, serioiusly. Heero12, You say don't lecture you on on how to drift, yet you get an attitude when you come to a drifting forum where the vast majority of the people are trying to become better drifters.

If you only do it for fun, that's fine. But don't cop a bad attitude when some lets you know you're doing it wrong. I am trying to become a better drifter/driver in GT3, along with almost everyone else. If you're not interested, fine. But don't get mad at us because our techniques are better and more consistant then mixing tires and setting your suspension in and atempt to compensate.

i don't think it's "wrong" to mix tires, but i think its not a good idea. we say that mixing tires is not a good way to drift because we want to help those who do become a better drifter. you can do what you want, but we're just helping out.

Seriously, why didn't I just say that. doh!:ouch:

If I was copping an additude please point out where, I never intended to cop an additude and I'm sorry if I did, but I can't really change my life right now so don't take anything I say real serious. And mixing tires is my style, I'll always be better mixing than on sims because it's how I learned and I can't change that either.

If you stopped mixing tires, and learned good technique, you would be a better drifter..... C'mon, it's obvious..... Knowledge is power.... Right now, you are lacking drifting knowledge (technique/settings)... If you had that information you would be armed with what you need to become a much better drifter.....

However, as I have said before... If you don't want to learn how to become a better drifter, than that's just fine.... It's up to you....

I was going to ask what is wrong with mixing tires? From SD above, it appears that it hampers your ability to learn how to drift better.

Can you explain the benefits of using tires other than sim tires? What are the aspect that will improve when I switch to a tire other than sims? What tire should I switch to? DarkAzn apparently deems it stupid to use sims, yet offers no reason why. You've all stated it will improve your drifting ability.

How?

We all have to start learning somewhere, and why not use sims? They are the easiest to break traction with and hardest to regain traction. So should I aspire to drift with T5 tires?

Be as mean as you want, but offer a plausible reason why someone should not use sims.

Calling it stupid and saying nothing else simply points to your own in telligence.
