I did a year of french in high school, I learnt nothing from it.

"omlette du fromage" is the best I know hehe

I was unable to make myself understood speaking French in Montreal. However, I have been to France three times in the last three years, and can get on fine there. Go figure.

I got a B in GCSE French. 17 years ago.

thats because French's and Quebecers dont have the same accent. French's one is the true "french" accent... Here in Quebec we totalled the accent mixing french with english and we've all ****ed it up... So thats why France makes fun of us, that we cant stand each others (Quebec and France) and that we cant understand each others...

I did 3 poor years of it. The teachers were good, it just didn't interest me. I'm now doing Spanish and have developed the strange habit of saying huit instead of ocho :banghead:

911_Carrera is quite good at French, though.

well I wanted to know who SPEAKS french... Not who studied it... lol it changes of subject all the way... whatever... Its good to know that people study it, but I dont see why people likes to learn spanish... French is the third more spoked language in the world.

Je parle un peu de francais!

Je prends la classe de francais trois. Je viens de faire une promenade à écureiul(sp?). :dopey:

Il faut que vous ne mangiez pas de chats. (we learned the subjuctive last week)

I heard Spanish was :sly: Suppose it depends who tells you. However, after a quick google search, French didn't seem to be near the top of most lists.

I liked Spanish because I'll probably go to Spain more than France and I'd given up on French so I thought Spanish would be a fresh start.

If thats teh case you guys should just drop the bloody french. I think its one of the stupidest languages going were you have to spell most things and arrange most things differently deping on if its guy or a girl.

To be fair, learning Spanish is way more useful than learning French, You can travel on most of the globe if you speak both English and Spanish. French is the third most spoken European language, after English and Spanish, and it comes obviously behind Chinese and Hindi in term of population.

French is a very rich and complex (often too much for no good reason though, IMO) language, especially with grammar, but Spanish can be fairly complex as well, especially if you take into accounts the different dialects used in Spain (Castillan, Catalan(s), etc.) and the differences between them and Latino-American Spanish.

That's weird. Usually French have trouble understanding us when we talk, while the opposite isn't true. Perhaps you just got unlucky. In English, I often have trouble understanding pronounced Scottish accents in movies though. :p

je ne suis pas perdant. Je suis un peu bizzare. J'écoute à AC/DC maintenant.

C'est votre choix d'essayer de parler français mais commencez donc par l'apprendre... :D

The one that can translate this CORRECTLY will gain my respect :sly:

You just owned me :( but hey, my english aint so bad... ;) (oh well...)

It isn't that bad, but there's room for improvement... Just nagging you, as you did with them. :)

My english is quite bad at times, especially when I write something quickly. I'm constantly editing errors in my posts, when I actually notice them.

yeah... I speak english well but I dont know big words like I do in french... You know sometimes I write french like I would be Victor Hugo or someone that had the big hand over the french language but in english... I know some basis and quite alot so I could speak and understand... Sometimes I dont understand because people use big words, but thats ok. I stopped at the 3rd class of high school so I dont know everything, I learned my best english on the net... :)

Well, I'm in Level 5 Pre-AP French...

I'm still terrible at grammar though.

And in the US, Spanish is so much more popular because there is a significantly (at least more visible) Hispanic population than French-speaking only population. Plus many countries in Latin America are suppose to be "the next big thing" or something like that economically.

Well Je peux parler français, because i'm from quebec. I learned my english with internet, Diablo II, english songs, etc. but not from school. English is so much easier than french. We spend 11 years of school learning french, only 5 years for english and I still do less mistakes in english.
