(i know it doesn't affect anything, it just annoys me)

You are pushing down on the left stick. Unassign it and you'll be OK. Just remember to re-enable it for a wet race!

They'll automatically activate. There's zero reason for the wiper toggle to be bound to your controller beyond novelty.

Are the wipers on at the start of every race or do they turn on later? because it's sounding like you're just accidentally pressing the button

i wasn't aware you could un-assign the wiper function, i'm assuming you can do the same with the horn? damn thing toots away when i'm cornering too hard

Yes you can assign all buttons.👍 Go to options>controllers settings, you should find it there.:)👍

I find them on when I enter a race sometimes.

It's definitely not me switching them on though.

I know which button I've assigned to switch them on/off (R1) and I don't touch it accidentally.

I have never seen my wipers on at the start of any dry session, and I can always see my wipers. I've never heard of this happening before either, just people pushing the button by mistake.

There was one time when my wipers came on without me pressing a button or seeing a single raindrop, but that was while driving and only lasted for a second or so before shutting off again. I assumed the weather had reached "light rain" stage but went back to "about to rain" immediately.

on my wheel, the x button are the wipers.
so when in a lobby, i go to the track, out of the pits, i press x.

It's this. I remember this happening to me when I first played GT5. I think the default button for toggling the wipers is L3, which is easily pressed when your using that stick for turning. Go to options and then controller and un-assign L3.

I think L3 is the horn, R3 is the wipers. That's why everybody honks their horn mid-corner, even more often when struggling to maintain control. I doubt I'd have bothered to switch my horn to L3 if it didn't start there, I'd have just assigned the RA menu to that.

It might be that the OP's R3 button sticks or is going bad, though I've never tried starting a race with the button held down to see what happens.

Wipers are assigned to R3, not L3. I couldn't pass comment about them being on at the start of a race, as I race on bumper cam. I reassigned the horn a while ago now, it annoyed the crap out of me...

Well now some of them honk to be annoying, some honk because they think it's funny. I like to honk away right before the race starts as a sort of way to say good luck.
