Why are realistic hybrids hated so badly?

I have been a part of the Gt series since gt1. I love the game. Lately I have been bored with all of the drag rooms, you see the same cars in every room! GTR, acr, and Ford Gt. I have great tunes for all of these cars. But why do people kick me.out when I pull out a 9.5 second cobra r with no wing? Its around 950hp. Rwd and a little better traction. They are still beating me with the gtrs. I don't get it? Why all the hate for diversity? Sorry I'm writing this from a phone.

-_- There are PLENTY of threads like this that already exist. We DO NOT need more threads that discuss the SAME EXACT THING.

But I thought it was the 100000+ horsepower cars that were looked down upon and everyone enjoyed realistic hybrids?

Oh, and welcome to :gtplanet: :sly:

As with all online lobbies, ask for permission before you try something that is different from what everyone else is doing. That is, if you don't want to get kicked.

Any sign of altering = suspicion of "illegal tuned" 1500hp honestly shouldn't be broken to reach any higher. Thats unfair to the rest of the car list. This is why PD avoided having cars over 1000. Supercars like the Bugatti Veyron, Viper ACR. Enzo Ferrari etc. Compared to cars like GTR34, Supra, etc. which are normal street cars (sports Cars). Anyway back on topic It's just a risk prevention, Even though the whole rage of Mod/hacking/altering has spread like a wildfire and has about 60%+ of the GT5 Community. Their are also people who like Fair play like myself. They aren't going to want to see someone with any kind of 3rd party advantage. Like someone already said: "Ask before you try things." Never hurts to be on the safe side. Even if you're kicked there are a lot of "Mod Haven" lobbies.

If that was PD's reasoning, then they made a poor decision. No amount of horsepower is unfair. Some cars are just better than others - and they should be if that is the case in real life. You take care of this by only racing cars with similar performance, as is done in reality.

As for the original question posed, some people will just hate the mods automatically for one reason or another. Others will assume anyone who mods is dishonest. Still others simply are unsure of how capable the game is of handling these cars fairly and take a low risk approach by avoiding the modded cars. I'd be in the last category, though I don't have a problem with the cars.

I like the realistic hybrids but the unrealistic ones are destroying the fun in gt5.

I am not against the idea behind hybriding or modding and whatever that entails. I think anything that brings a element of cerativity to the game is good for the game. I've driven a shifter kart with 20,28,45 and 60 hp and I can tell you its the most fun I've had inthe GT series ever, and I mean ever. But there is a bigger picture, and the bigger picture is always that you have to be able to line up on the grid with anyone in the world, anywhere, and know for a certainty what is possible, tuning wise, with their car. That's called integrity, and with unlimited modding, its gone. You have to know that if you lose, its because the other guy was a better tuner and/or driver, not that he's better with computer code than you and found something that hives him a 5% edge in grip/power.

That doesn't mean this stuff has to go away, but PD has to address it in some fashion. Something as simple as a "HYBRID" toggle switch in an Online lobby is enough to handle this for now. That way you can run with them or without, your choice.

And I believe that would be possible. PD just needs a checker to match the codes at the entry of a lobby.
For example, a car has a certain code for the engine chassis, body, etc.
That checker could search for the combinations possible to do to a certain car with just the ingame's resources, and if that car's code combination didn't match the ones in the game data, due to an engine swap or any other thing, it could be excluded, and a pop up (similar to what shows when the PP, HP, weight, ect. is higher/lower than what the lobby settings allow) could show up.

^^ this ought to be true & easily possible.
I know there have been a few online games over the years that I have known of, that have been able to restrict certain server gaming areas from hacking, while allowing online gaming for those using hacks & game mods, etc.

If driving a realistic hybrid, ask if you can use it when you enter a room, or only enter hybrid rooms. If you turn up in an unannounced hybrid car and suddenly start beating normal cars with countless hours of fine tuning, people are likely to get pissed.

That's the thing though,.7. The host was like No you hacker leave blah blah blah. They were all running 9.6 cars or faster..

It doesn't matter what they're running. You ask before taking a hybrid car into someone else's lobby.

Also don't make up crap like "they're hating diversity". The only thing they hate is having to deal with cheaters. So again, ask before using the car.

"Cheating" is a variable term. Which made it quite the debate in the other thread. Dictionaries aren't really a part in this as cheating is dependent on what the user defines it as, and if it violates any set rules and regulations.

Do we have to have 30 threads to debate the definition of cheating, when hullo - consult a dictionary.

Well that's the point. Modded cars aren't cheating.

You can't decide what is cheating and what's not. It's all about what is in bold. Doing whatever to your car can't be a cheat if there is no one to cheat (such as in A-Spec, or [because someone will probably argue A-Spec] a free run). Driving them online isn't a cheat because online doesn't have any universal rules to break. Entering them into a no mods room is cheating (or just against the rules), obviously.

Well I threw that bit in as it covers any grounds where rules aren't existent or posted.

So back in the days before multiplayer existed and most games had a large set of cheats for the player to use, they weren't actually cheats because there is nobody to cheat?

You're cheating the game, it's pretty simple.

The point is, isn't 3 threads debating the "what is cheating and what is not?" in regards to hacked cars enough already?

It's not up to me to decide, and simply correcting a point not deadlocked to the thread title doesn't mean this has gone off topic. If you don't allow room for side discussion, you'll probably never get anywhere.

Exactly. But the stupid, incorrect name stuck and now people get mad at other people for doing nothing wrong.

Oh and, lack of multiplayer doesn't mean you can't cheat. If you and a friend agreed to play a certain way in a single player game, but you don't adhere to the agreement, you've cheated. If you submit a fastest time to the record keepers but did not follow the rules, you cheated. If you made yourself immortal and blitz through the game on Saturday, you didn't cheat.

I saw this same idea in another thread. Simply brilliant.

It is the more realistic hacked cars that are the worst. If you can swap the chassis of a Yellowbird with something that handles well, well you get the idea.

I am sure of one thing though. SCE and PD aren’t gonna give a crap how realistic these hacked cars are. I agree at some point there will be a pop up window. But I think it is going to be more like this.

I doubt either of those will ever appear, since PD has all but given up on GT5 and moved onto GT6.

You say that as if they've shut off online servers and no longer support the OCD and Seasonal Events.

So are you seriously saying entering a code in an old Grand Theft Auto game that instantly allows you to lose the cops isn't a cheat? What else would you call it? You're (albeit enabled by the programmers) cheating the game.

No they haven't shut off the servers because their next game isn't out yet. The OCD and Seasonals honestly one person could do (and probably does).

I'm well aware. I just find your comment was a little too serious and didn't possess any exaggeration or sarcasm.

PD might have moved on but it only takes one manufacturer to find out and tell PD they didn't agree to their car being transplanted into another car when they licensed their vehicles.
