why do i feel GT4 is going to kill it!

ok well i think that GT4 will become a stupid game with its drag racing mode and a drift mode , also the scenerio mode will make it worse i think they should have just left it =simulation mode arcade time attack and then just put the new stuff in leaving out the drift,scenerio,and drag mode
 
How can EXTRA modes be worse, if you don't like a mode, don't play it.

the point for me buying GT4 is all the fun cars they will have, and yes i prob wont be playing those modes , its just what i think dont take it to the heart guys! damn!

Well he's just saying that he dislikes the new modes i gt4, but he shouldnt have just kept on whining about it to the other members. Personally, I think it's a pretty stupid thing to whine about... it's like going to the Olive Garden, and whining because you get breadsticks and salad with every meal, claiming that it's "ruining" the meal. Well, the meal doesn't change regardless of the side dishes... and GT isn't going to change just because it has some extra stuff. It's all icing on the cake... if you don't like the icing, fine.. but the cake is still there, and better than ever.

sorry, I disagree with you entirely.
Drifting has hit the motorsports scene full throttle and i think it is suitable for GT to have types of motorsports that feature cars from the game. Especially because japanese cars are well represented, drifting is essential to GT to showcase the abilities of the drift machines. Drag racing will let u experience what muscle cars were mean to do, racing down long stretches of road.
If drift and drag isn't for you then you can stick to the other circuit races which is in fact the majority of the game.
You might be thinking "hey but the game is called GT... so shouldn't it be just GT racing?" But this is about this history and a showcase of cars now, not just GT racing. PD picked the most modes of play where one can try out cars around the world which performs best at these different kinds of motorsport

Not to go off-topic, but those Olive Garden breadsticks with that sauce is totally good! 👍 Sometimes, you'll probably get full off of them, but the breadsticks and sauce are very good. You should try some of those breadsticks, man.

Now let me do something I'm known for (and hated for), proving points. GT4 is just trying new things, and I think it's looking very good. Some don't like Photo Mode. That's okay. Some don't like to drift. That's okay. Some don't like drag racing. That's okay. But come on now, man. A game series has to evolve, you know. If you don't try new things or continually renovate something, it gets stale and old. And GT4 isn't even out yet. Even if you don't like these new additions, at least give them a chance. Assuming you're from my homeland (America), just wait for December 14th. Maybe find a demo of GT4 at a Wal-Mart or Best Buy or something. Just play around with some of the features and try to get into it.

At first, I was going to blast you by not being a GT fan. But that's being one-sided on this issue. All I'm saying is, give it a chance. And yeah, be careful around here. You'll probably get the ban treatment if you persist in being disrespectful and foul on here. Welcome to the 'Planet.
 
i dont think it will kill the gt series no. i just dont think it will improve that much compared to gt3 and compared to other games.

I seldom reply like that, but seriously, you nor anyone else has played GT4 in its entiredy.

Drag and (drift mode) w/ be awesome. I have drift in parethesis because i still dont know if its a for sure thing or not. But how can having 2 new modes of racing screw things up? Especially when there are alot of fans of either sport. I myself love everything about drag racing. I dont care for drifting, however, i see how many people enjoy it, so its got to be a good thing.

Topics like this are rediculous. Post something like this after you've played the game atleast.

To be honest, in GT3 I played the Arcade and Time Trial modes for all of about 5 minutes, I just stuck to the Simulation bit for a few thousand hours. So the addition of the drift and drag racing modes probably won't affect me in the slightest. unless thy are included in an obtrusive way i.e. if they are a major part of the Simulation mode and there are cars only abtainable by completing these modes.
 
If you know how your car behaves in drifting, because you learned it in the drift mode, you can master critical situations in the races!

Oh and drag racing and drift mode will be a part of simulation mode. (Just like Rally Racing was)

What's wrong with drag racing and drifting anyway? Drifting is fun.
 
i never said drifting wasnt fun, sliding cars is fun, especially a civic si HB in the rain , im just saying what if it turns out like NFSU or SRS stupid ricey newbie wannabe drifters , go BACK TO DRAG!
 
Well it wont be SRS or NFSU because you can't paint stripes in this game. You wont be racing on regular roads, you'll be on Circuits.

The extra modes are ok with me, as long as they don't kill the drifting like Need for speed Underground. (my opinion only, not to offend anyone who likes this game)

I dont think you should say that GT4 will become a "stupid" game because it added in drag and drift mode. Polyphony Digital want this game to take the heart of every different kind of "car" competition lovers out there! TO GET THEIR ATTENTION! :O 👍 Not everyone likes GT3's idea of only providing racing laps around a track as the ONLY competition. Drift, Drag mode will add more taste to it that will satisfy more people into getting the game.

You should go around and check out what made NFS:U a popular game. People at my school talk about "oOoo It have drift, drag and lap racing!" and everyone would be all over it. This is what I think Polyphony Digital is trying to do with its big franchise, trying to get MORE people all over it again and get new people to jump in! :O
 
I think GT4 will stink because it will have the civic. And the civic is a car in NFSU so.....
It'll ruin everything :lol:

That is exactly the problem, IMO. You start attracting the wrong kinds of people to a mature simulation game like Gran Turismo. With the ditching of online mode, I don't think it's much of a problem anymore, you won't have to deal with these people. However, this will still attract these drift posers and all around wannabes to not only GTP, but to future versions of Gran Turismo.



I have yet to see any indication (screenshots or other wise) that this "drift" mode will be in the final version of GT4. If it is, I hope it stays a very minute mode and won't interfere with the overall gameplay.

It's better for the kids than that underground Xtreme tuning bizzzzz type game that is currently flourishing.

At least Gran Turismo is somewhat educational, and gets some people that otherwise know little about racing and car culture get into it in the first place.

I see what you mean though. The import-tuner reading crowd encroaching on your digital turf doesn't sound appealing.

You could always complete the modes you want, and then attack those less desirable modes later. What's the point in buying the best that racing games has to offer if you don't participate in all the modes. You would have less to discuss on GTP aswell.
 
When I think of drawing new gamers into Gran Turismo, you may have heard this statement before, but you know how the saying goes. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. You dig? Anyhow, don't call this as a bad thing. To me, bringing in a gamer used to stunts and illegal activity (evading cops and illegal street racing) will only educate them into what racing is really like instead of pretending racing is all about flashiness and stunt driving. So as I say, you have to draw in auto fans any way you can. I see this as being more of a way of drawing new racing fans to the GT series while keeping old GT fans happy. Will this work? Give GT4 three months at least. We'll see.
