why do i feel GT4 is going to kill it!

I hope Polyphony Digital adds every form of motorsports in future GT games. Yes I can see it now Drift, Drag, Rally, Open Wheel, Stock Car, Sports Cars,Historic, Motorcycles,Nascar,V8 Supercars, WRC, F1, DTM, FIA GT,NHRA, JGTC and well you get the idea.
 
^Don't forget a Destruction Derby Series :dopey: whew... this one would last a while...

That is exactly the problem, IMO. You start attracting the wrong kinds of people to a mature simulation game like Gran Turismo. With the ditching of online mode, I don't think it's much of a problem anymore, you won't have to deal with these people. However, this will still attract these drift posers and all around wannabes to not only GTP, but to future versions of Gran Turismo.



I have yet to see any indication (screenshots or other wise) that this "drift" mode will be in the final version of GT4. If it is, I hope it stays a very minute mode and won't interfere with the overall gameplay.

Weren't all of that kid one day. I know that I hated rice from the start, but there are plenty of respectible rwd well tuned JDM cars.

Secondly why would you care if a whole bunch of civic ricing punks decided they like GT? Does it really affect your ability to play the game in your own property, with your own TV and your PS2? I can see you being worried that having the support of a different group would lead to a GT5 dedicated to rice and drag racing, and leaving out the GT. I really don't think Kaz would allow this. Were all of you so resilient to the addition of rally?

At least we'll know KY will make it impossible to drift in Gt4 for "import tooner" punks... I can just imagine their faces after their millions of hours on NFSU drift mode only to find out that you need the handbrakes for FF cars to drift(ass drag)..:lol:

Drag racing is probably the biggest thing, besides living crowds, that makes me squeal like a schoolgirl over the release of this game.

When you say it would make the game stupid, you're being irrational. It's a form of driving all in its own, where gears and takeoffs are key.

Don't talk about something you have no clue over.
 
Oh Oh, Let me add more! Making fun of "ricers" puts you as low as them.... Some of them may even know more than you ;)

It could be similar to the bonus levels in Stuntman. Going up ramps, jumping through flaming hoops then smashing head first into a pile of lame cars like any Volvo.
 
McLaren'sAngel, just remember not to put in your favorite car in danger. Or if you do that to your babe, the McLaren F1, has its life and health insurnace are all paid off.

There is a basic trend for ANY GT gamer that wants 100% completion, plenty of cars, 7-figure money balances, and trophy after trophy:

tune => qualify => race => climb through the pack => defend positions and hold your line => GO FOR THE WIN!

I know drifters don't really account for any audience of real racing prowess, but don't go off telling me that GT is only going to be boring because some "ricers" will have the chance to race like they own everything with wheels and an engine. If a person cannot race as well as they'd like to, you can always practice. Think of having all of these virtual racers as recruiting. If you're the Project Gotham-type game player, you're a racer. If you're the NHRA type, you're a racer. If you like NFS:U or any games like that, you're a racer. And all I'm saying is that we all share the same interest- a love of racing and automobile culture. I'm not bothered that NOS or drifting or performance tuner cars will be in GT4. Why? Because we're all racers regardless. I think Gran Turismo is not only about racing to win, but racing to where you feel comfortable. Once you're done with the licenses, you can race almost any car any way you like. It doesn't matter what kinds of cars or racing you're into, as long as you have a passion for racing, you can compete against anyone. And if we all drive like "n00bs," we can always improve our racing skill.

Maybe I'm not so much a one-sided person on this, but come on now. I see this more about making the game more accessible and more fun to people rather than deteriorating the GT franchise with stuff that has no home in the GT series. Can't we just have a little fun here, player? Dig me?
 
Hmm...I'd imagine GT is probably already a very popular game among "ricers".

Considering it was the first console game you could really mess around with and customize your car with. In fact, I would even say that Gran Turismo did more than it's fair share to popularize the idea of making race cars out of plain jane Honda Civics.
 
Nah.. The technical specs usually confuse them :lol: They go all out on horsepower and all the expensive stuff..

body kits can be very tasteful and functional. Thus, I don't mention them.

Most of the nicest tuner cars in the world have some form of body kit on them.

Well you have to think about it again TetsuoSTI, because what Polyphony Digital is doing is all about business. They need to grab the attention of many customers as possible to help themselves gain profit and hopefully make their competitors give up. Adding in new things is the key to success, even it have to use some of the competitors idea to make things happen.

GT4 is having alot of competition than ever before! :mad: Forza Motorsport and Enthusia Professional Racing are really trying to stab a knife through PD's product. PD can't let that happen! Even if you may not know, many customer's these day STILL compare a simulated racing game to an arcade racing game such as Need For Speed, Street Racing Syndicate and Midnight Club series. In fact, some people may buy other racing games besides GT4 and will forget about buying GT4. That will hurt PD because there competition just "stole" one of their customers. If there is something in the game that PD's competitor made that really attract people, then PD NEED to retaliate back by doing something similar to gain the interest of that particular customer. :O

Although the "NOS" give people some mixed feelings on many boards, it's a wise move by PD in my opinion. Adding that "NOS" into the gameplay will make the customer who wants a racing game that have "NOS" will have GT4 in mind instead of the one well known Need For Speed:U 1 and 2. GT4 should be adding in things that the competitors are using to try to kick PD out of the racing genre competition. For example: C= competitors, PD = GT4

C: We got Nitrous Oxide System!
GT4: So do we!
C: We got the godly SKYLINE THAT EVERY IMPORT FAN LOVES!
GT4: Heh...we got 10+ different ones and even the old ones!
C: We got the "realistic feel"!
GT4: So do we!
C: We got 100-300 cars!
GT4: We got over 650 cars!
C: We got DRIFT MODE!!!
GT4: (depends on final product. Let's assume no) We don't have to add a new system for a drift mode. The players themselves can tune up and make the cars drift based on their own skills. So we technically have an invisible drift mode.

etc. Yea it can go on and on...

Anyways, it all come down for PD to be able to cover as much gameplay as possible to create this cloud over its competitor. If the competitor got something new, PD would have already added it in. Basically, this cloud is to absorb everything the competitor have and pact it all in one package for 49.99! :O Instead of buying NFS:U2 and Forza because they both have something you like, but in a seperate DVD box. But why buy those two when you can just buy ONE GAME that have EVERYTHING THAT THE OTHER COMPETITORS HAVE TO OFFER FOR THE PRICE OF 1 GAME! :O:O:O

RESERVE YOUR COPY TODAY!!!! or you will be left under the cloud of Polyphony Digital and be regretful! :O

I agree with you Jedi2016! I am buying GT4 regardless of what kind of people buy it. After all, those who buy GT4 have something in common that we can get along with! 👍 :cheers:
 
Welcome to the month of November, folks (as of 12:04 AM CST)!

But Lady McLaren, do you think PD is going for the "something for everyone" element for GT4 that I've talked about before? If so, will they succeed? If not, is "something for everyone" really important in making sure GT4 becomes a modern-day classic?

Man how the hell can you bag out on new modes. We will still have more cars and more tracks then any previous GT game, but we will still have the pleasure of knowing we can do proper drag racing and drifting instead of just mucking around with arcade mode. We havnt lost anything other then online mode, which was only removed so they could bring the release date closer, but each to their own i suppose. Dont like it, dont play it.
