I have tried driving with SRF off but my car slides like it's on ice, even on Racing Soft tires. How do I increase rear grip?

SRF is the only aid I disable in my online room. I personally only use abs at 1.

It gives a un natural feeling to me.

Practice with it off. Throttle control is very important.

:)

what car are you using, and instead of srf, try using traction control, then gradually take it off as you get better

Camaro SS '10 tuned to ZL1 specs I will practice without SRF. I use a DS3 also.

I don't understand why anyone disables the use of driving aids in their rooms. Just because some people might feel fine driving in one way doesn't mean everyone does and it seems unfair to force an opinion like that, especially when 90% of the games cars would use these or similar driving aids in real life!! I always allow driving aids in my rooms. I only ever have TC on 1 personaly and that's just to help the car out of gravel traps when i get rammed off but i'm more than happy to let my room guests drive their cars as they feel happy with. Too much elitist snobbery exists within this game and that's what people often forget - it's a game.

If you join the right rooms, you won't get put in the gravel anyway. And people disable aids to make sure the room is equal and so that it filters out the dirty drivers.

people don't allowd skid recovery force because its stupid, its an unreal aid, that adds a magical amount of unrealistic grip to the tires in every situation. its the only aid that actually makes the car faster. and quite a bit faster at that.

so people turn super grippy glue tires off, because they like the realism factor of this game, they didn't buy mario car for a reason. realism is that reason.

So basically, every single person should have skid recovery disabled, and there would be nothing elitist about it. most people don't use it, and allowing some to use it would then be unfair.

Do some more research before you call one of the smartest things you can do in GT5 an elitist decision.

Edit-

The second smartest thing you can do it GT5, is never buy a bugatti, enzo, or a ford hahaha.

Agreed. People should be able to play a game how they want, whenever they want, and I feel if people can't understand that, they shouldn't be allowed to play.

What's increased skill adjustment? I don't use TC though only abs 1 Does SRF add grip to tires is that why when it's off tires loose grip?

Sorry, I was making a wisecrack. SRF adds a magical and unrealistic level of grip to the tires. Learning to drive without it will make you a much better driver. You can do it, it's just a lot different than with SRF on and will take a while for you to get comfortable with the adjustment.

No, i don't buy that at all. Accidents happen wether deliberate or not. I would rather people use driving aids if they don't feel confident enough without them as it can also eliminate a lot of accidents. Oddly enough i get involved in more accidents that are not my fault in rooms where people don't allow driving aids because they think their bag of talent is brimming when really the bags empty. There's positives and negatives to everything and no one has a right to tell a total stranger that they shouldn't play their own game how they feel comfortable to.
For those of you that ever want a fair room where you are free to drive how you feel comfortable with, a room that has few accidents and fair rules then remember my user name and look out for me online.

Few real drivers will join buddy. Most of us while looking for a room, turn the option for skid recovery off to avoid the mindless noobs.

"no one has a right to tell a total stranger that they shouldn't play their own game how they feel comfortable to"

Yes dude we actually DO, in our own rooms. Thats why they included the kick player option..

SRF is like being allowed to take steroids in sports. Do you think thats ok too?

I do kick people, but only for stupid things like deliberate ramming when trying to cleanly pass or driving around circuits the wrong way during practice! That's just being plain annoying!!

Do you kick people for...

-cutting corners
-not being able to drive into a corner 2 wide
-ramming themselves into the inside of a corner to get the pass
-going wide or getting sideways all the time in front of you constantly slowing you down, but always blocking the pass
-just horrible driving in general. disrupting the flow of the guys actually racing, not just trying to "stay on the track"

I do, and so do the people that host the rooms i usually play in. Turning skid recovery force off keeps a huge portion of those people out. AND its an unfair advantage when used.

I don't care if your new and just learning. Driving on the outside of a corner for people to pass and to not disrupt the flow of racing isn't hard. People that don't do it can go somewhere else and learn.
I put my time in crappy rooms allowing X1's and what not, or "trackday" rooms, to stay out of the way. Now i can race. And those that can't aren't welcome.

I covered pretty much everything i think.

Unfair advantage? Why don't you say that when you realize that not allowing aids is an unfair action itself. Think about how the people who use driving aids just to stay competitive feel when they see rooms not allowing driving aids. You would feel that exact same way if the situation was reversed, if you needed to use them to stay competitive.

Everyone has to learn somewhere. I like to think of myself as a reasonable person who doesn't get so wound up by a computer game that i'd kick everyone out for such a comprehensive list, let alone take the time to even write the list. Pathetic, over and out.

Offline and in arcade.

This isn't Need For speed. I take GT5 more seriously than that. Ultimately, people can set whatever driving settings they want as it's their room and there rules. You either obey their rules or risk getting kicked.

Well i used to use driving aids, and it didn't take very long for me to realize the standard in GT5 was abs 1 only.

As soon as a i found out all the people that could actually drive in the game, only used ABS 1. I did the exact same thing. And i progressed really fast. Not wasting any time getting used to the physics of SRF.

And i'm mainly talking about SRF here buddy (you know the OBVIOUS unfair one) I don't give a crap if you use TCS or not. Even though you shouldn't, because it slows you down, and no one needs it, they are just to lazy to learn without it.

I mean, unless you actually have a condition that prevents you from controlling your fingers properly.

TCS doesn't always slow you down.
It really is a tuning thing. More per-car than per-driver, in my opinion as a tuner.

Your lack of comprehension is what i consider pathetic. Friends get together and enjoy fast paced heart puming clean racing. Getting it all ruined by some idiot that doesn't know what he is doing (yourself possibly)
gets very frustrating. Go play somewhere else, and stay out of the big boys way. This thing your sticking up for is known as "pathetic driving ability" and its within our right to keep it out of our rooms because it ruins the fun of capable people.

Like i said man. Go play mario kart.

You see, there you go again - stating that people are lazy and so forth. Maybe some people have tried endlessly or just don't have the time tio master your incredible levels of super hero talent but that doesn't give you the right to start saying what we should or shouldn't use and as for your last line, you come across as plain offensive. You need to start realising that everyone is unique and can't be dictated to in the manner that you relay.

ok dude, i am going to make this very clear for you since your obviously having a really hard time understanding.

When someone hosts a room, they DO have the right to DICTATE it however they want. Can you not grasp that?

I don't go around the forums bringing up the fact that you shouldn't use SRF. So please dude, really think about what your saying. And try to make it less stupid.

You asked a question. Your getting your answers. Everything stated in this thread is why people don't allow it in online lobbies. We answered your question, why are you arguing?

There are plenty of rooms for the exact thing your talking about, go join one of them

i think you mentioned elitist snobbery? i will be as offensive as i like sir, take your own advice.

and my last line, wasn't meant to be offensive. It was more like, heres the deal, unless..........

At what point have i stated i need to use SRF and so forth? You have a real attitude problem. You see, i see the 'big boys' as you call it as people who tolerate others, not people like you who have to belittle others - little man. Go play with your lego or hot wheels toys.

Um, let me just grab one of your posts here:

You just said that people who use driving aides are "idiots that don't know what they are doing".
...👎

There is no reason to be insulting.
This thing your sticking up for is known as "pathetic driving ability"
Once again, a sweeping genorilization. Not everyone that uses aids is a 'pathetic driver' like you say.
and its within our right to keep it out of our rooms because it ruins the fun of capable people.

So, me using aides makes it so you have less fun, is that right?
👎👎👎

Too lazy? What about the people who don't have much time to practice driving without them? Those people cherish the little time they can play and most likely use it to relax. Do you really think that they would want the little time they have to relax to go to getting better at a video game? Take me for example. I'm a high school student. I prioritize school and homework over playing a game. I also prioritize spending time with my family over video games too. If I'm lucky, I get an hour a day, so I don't have the time to practice. Also, XPOWER180 is right. The big boys are the people who actually accept others, not the ones who think that they should take power over everything.

Attitude problem? He's explaining to you for the 4th time now virtually the same thing and you're still not getting his point.

A little harsh but well put. If someone makes a room, its their right to design it the way they want to, its not being an elitist or superior being, its about bringing in like minded drivers into their rooms!

People can use whatever aides they like, on their own, but don't expect people to adapt to you in public rooms, you need to adapt to the norm and learn to follow rules and restrictions.

I didn't ask the question -DUDE. I offered an opinion -DUDE. Can you not grasp that? I never stated i don't enter rooms because of a lack of driving aids, i stated that my own rooms allow all aids to be used. Can you not grasp that - DUDE ?!!!!!

I need to figure out how to quote multiple people.

@gamerdog6482 i'm sorry but the majority of my justification was previously in this thread, i'm not going to take the time to point them out to you, its way to hard/time consuming for me to quote people.

@otakukid96 My answer to your entire paragraph is... go play in a room that allows the aids. AND we do tolerate less skilled drivers, when they can at least not disrupt our race. Hard to understand?
