Why does GT3 have only 150+ cars?

GT2 has a big line-up of cars. That's what I like about it. As for GT3, why does it have less cars? It would have been better if it had around 700 cars...

Probably because it took up too much memory, that's what i think.... If this is true, i'm cool with it because the graphics rule. :D

I agree with GCstyle

GT2 may have a lot of cars, but a large number of them are Japanese subcompacts that are under 150hp, even with all the expensive mods. I think Polyphony figured that people wouldn't want to waste time with those little crackerboxes and would rather have more actual race cars to play with instead.

I mean, can you imagine trying to finish a 5 lap Test Course race with a Honda Beat? You'd be old and gray by the time it ended...

So I assume that you own and race every single one of those 150 cars?? On a regular basis.

What's the point of loading the game up with 700 cars? Who would touch more than half of them??? 90 percent of people grab their fastest car and win the races. Some people don't use more then 10 cars to beat the game. 150 is fine.

Variety is more important that quantity. In the next one I'd rather see more manufacturers.

I also think that they put in as many as they could get licensing for.

Cars in GT3 took at least 2 weeks, and most took nearly a month of modeling to complete. In GT1 cars took about a week each, and for GT2, they had the process streamlined (because of GT1's experience) and could pop out a car every few days if I remember the interview correctly. Development time would have doubled if they had wanted to put more cars into the game. For GT4 there should be tons of cars as GT3 had, but that's quite a ways away...

Yup, I think they had it down to ~2 days per car for GT2. That jumped to ~2 weeks per car for GT3, so if they did 500 cars, we'd still be waiting for GT3 to come out. Not worth the wait, if you ask me...

licence issues and they were running outta time

With the incredibly long time until GT4 reaches other countries, there should be new manufacterers. ;)

no, GT4 & GTC are different I think; with GTC being an expansion pack for GT3. GT3 has around 180+ cars. what i would like to see is more circuits and more manufacturers, not necessarily more cars (esp. if it encrouches on graphics)

Yeah but in GT2 you can the tyres go right thru the body to:D

Quality over Quanity. For GT2 it took PD 1 day to program a single car but for GT3 it took them 2 weeks to program a single car.

Why? Why did Polyphony leave out most of the cars people drive every day? Simple, you already drive it, and compared to the cars that are in GT3, generally the car you drive is pretty lame. I'm pretty sure that there are MR2's in GT3, but since there are no second hand cars, your not exactly likely to see a 1986 car in the game!
