Why is the karting so hard?

The Kart Space is awesome but totally useless as the karting sucks due to bad handling and you can't drive anything else on it. Please PD, give them TCS. Or don't include karting anymore in any DLC.

If you can't handle the kart while the others can. It means the problem lies with you. And in real life, kart doesn't come with TCS.

LOL I have nothing more to say other than practice! And the karts are amazing sadly your driving must need work. Just keep at it, there worth it!

No offence, but you must really suck. The fiat 500 f is harder to control than a cart lol :-)

Karts are totally wrong. Braking for turn 1 makes the kart understeer into the wall, even if I give it a litle sideways move (through the wheel). Anyone who has ever driven a go-kart knows this is totally wrong, since they only have brakes at the rear axle and you use them to place the car sideways into tight corners.

Oh well, arcady track to arcady karts. Spa alone is worth the track pack.

You have to stay on the throttle to maintain rear traction. Once you know that it's quite easy to drive.

Well, i guess you suck if you can't control a Fiat 500. Karting just isn't fun with their current handling.

I couldn't drive it at all with a DS3. Now that i have a wheel it makes all the difference in the world!

No, im saying that's how EASY karting is. I agree they understate mire than in real life, but it's easy to tame. Ok, I admit, I'm a drivin god, I do trackdays, gaming marathons etc. So I suppose I can't comment on how easy it is, but for an average racer like u I understand that understeer is a bitch :-)

The new kart space inspired me to complete all the sp challenges within an hour today. Cockpit view seems like the way to go in recreating the experience. All in all karts are very fun, easy to drive, and feel realistic.

Im struggling to do the autoring one :(

Notice when he turns in off the throttle the back end starts to kick before he does the donuts?
The trick would be pedal modulation, and it's something all rear engine cars benefit from, staying on the throttle lightly to turn, keeps the rear in line better.

My problem is that when I'm trying to drive those things with a wheel, i need to hit the pedals very often. In free run that's no problem but in a race i keep crashing because there obviously is too much traffic

I think the Karting in GT5 is great.

to me they handle as I would expect from a kart.

And our local indoor kart track is also very slippery so pretty close to Kart spac.
Alltough it isn't as pretty as kart space :D

YES 👍

People I've seen online put too much steering input as well and just jam on the brakes, try and brake only before the turns

They are very easy if you practice and are skilled at GT . If you tend be a casual player then i'm sure you might struggle a bit .

But overall I think the Karts handle very well , it is very easy to brake too hard & too late and understeer with the 125 . But this is a driving sim . If it was meant to be easy & arcadey then PD would have named it Forza .

Good luck with your Karting practice . 👍

I love the karting, how you can see everything working in the cockpit view. The 125 can get a little bit nervous, but not uncontrollable. Im even holding a karting event on a separate thread in the spot races forums, with a few small races. (hint hint)
The only aspect of them that is difficult to control is the long winding curve on kart space, but its fine if you just stay a bit wider than normal.

I find the karts to be very challenging with the DS3, but much more manageable with a wheel. As said before it is important to be on-throttle while in a turn with the karts to keep the rear planted. A lift at the wrong time is usually the cause of the crashes I see.

They're as easy as cake and great fun to drive in my opinion. They're a bit oversteered, yes, but if you've ever driven a go-kart in real life you'd know that's accurate behavior.

I barely use the brakes when I'm karting...
Just let off the throttle into the turns, and hammer back on it when coming out.

Be subtle while cornering as well, or you'll end up spinning out and completely frustrated.
I use the DS3, and this works wonders for me.

And I cannot stress enough to use cockpit view when running karting, even if you don't like it with the regular racing... Things just flow so much better than with zoomed view, or others.

That is a gearbox kart, so he is probably in gear one do he has that amount of torque to spin the wheels, single speed karts can't do doughnuts in real life (I have the same kart as the 125 one in gt5 and I have tried to do doughnuts in it but it wont).

The karts are a pain to drive with a ds3 because you can't turn full lock because then it jacks the rear wheel and looses rear grip, just like a real kart. To drive a kart the key is just to turn in once and to the minimum amount needed to get round the corner, you don't want the rear to slip, you just want constant grip, so gentleness is the key. This the same with real karting, a top kart driver will drive with the steering wheel nearly straight all the time.

With the DS3 it is hard to modulate steering so you either understeer or oversteer. With a wheel you can modulate steering and find that exact ballance of grip and the kart will handle as it does in real life.

I'm sure a lot of us overdid it on the Kart Space on our first attempt, as that track is made specially for Karting, you have to attack corners in a different manner.

Any one have a good trannie setting for a kart? I'm trying to get above 103mph on a straight...it rarely happens with my current setting...anyone? and thx.

OMG! Kart Indoor Space is so awesome, it was a great surprise to me!

I play with G27, and the feel with the wheel is awesome, the way you race the Kart it's a life-like level!

Indeed you have to modulate steering, gas and braking pedals, trying to maintain the traction and a high RPM as possible by the exit of corners!

Great, simply great, i love it!
