Why Mugello is such an awesome place...

Meh, apart from turns 6-9, it's a bit too stop start. Plus the long corners and acceleration zones at the final turn especially would make aero dependent racing dull.

Best track in Italy by far - and better that Spa now that it's covered in that run off tarmac stuff.

Wonderful flowing track butchered by Chicane after Chicane after Chicane. 👎

I know it's not technically in Italy... but no love for Imola? :)

It is in Italy, in the region of Emilia-Romagna. ;)
Still, it's a great track, it was one of my favorites in GTR2 and PCars! 👍

Totally disagree. Tamberrello and Villeneuve are barely chicanes. They both fast and flowing, especially Villeneuve. Alta is the only real chicane on the track.

Everyone gets misty eyed over Tamberrello, but it was really a nothing corner before. It was only "special" when things went wrong because of the proximity of the wall. Now it's actually a challenge to drive.

Also without Tamberrello and Villeneuve, the lap times in a modern race car would be incredibly quick, turning the track into a bull ring.

When they put chicanes at Tamburello and Villeneuve, they removed two other ones. Aque Minerale had a stupid chicane, which they removed, making the new turn the best turn on Imola. Plus they turned the chicane Barrichello crashed on into a single kink to the Bassa chicane, which has now been removed altogether.

As noted by @twitcher and @Jimlaad43, Imola only has one chicane now, it had far more before the reconfiguration. You should give it a run on pCars, it's an awesome track :D

I definitely prefer it to Mugello despite having a soft spot for Mugello after so many FM2 laps on there.

Imola, Misano, Vallelunga--all great Italian tracks. But Mugello is probably my favorite. 👍

I too love Enna Pergusa as well. Such a beautiful setting for a race track. I know a lot of people don't like chicanes for whatever reason, but I like them when the have variety to them. The stop start nature leads to some great racing, with good slip streaming on the straights.

I wish Enna Pergusa would end up in a video game. It wouldnt be great for F1, LMP1, or other top flight cars, but it's amazing for production based racing.

Strictly from game experience, I actually find chicanes the hardest part of many tracks. Lezmos and Parabollica are pretty easy to be quick through, whereas finding the perfect line and making time through any of the 3 chicanes is much more difficult. I find Alta to be the trickiest part of Imola, same with the final chicane at Catalunya (thst's one I don't like).

The other thing I love about Imola is how anchored into its surroundings it is. The trees are thick and hang over parts of the track, the buildings are close by, and feature that classic Italian look. Watching either ELMS or WSBK, I get a feeling like I'm watching a race on a special track, F1 '94 aside. It's a feeling I don't get while watching races at many other tracks, especially the new ones. I'd have to double check, but I think TCR is racing there later this year, which should be great :)

Pretty old game, but it was in GTR2.

Still a great game though and any computer these days should be able to run it. I'd highly recommend giving it a try 👍

I could never understand the love for Imola. Sure its stepped in history but I wouldnt really call it a racers track in manner of say Motorland Aragon, Suzuka, Laguna or Motegi

AragoN? :odd: And to me Suzuka is one of the most over-rated tracks in motorsports.

I could hot-lap Suzuka all day on any racing game, it's one of the worlds best, undoubtedly.

To me it's like Catalunya and Hungaroring - great track for hot-lapping (F1 2009 on Wii springs to mind) but for actual racing not a fan.

It's also in Shift 2 but, you know, Shift 2.

Ah, didn't know that. Didn't bother with Shift 2 because of Shift 1. Surprised SMS didn't recycle it for PCARS actually.

Yeah, the track list for Shift 2 was easily the best thing it had going for it, absolutely tons of tracks. Just a shame about the rest of it. They had to start from scratch for pCARS because EA owned all of the assets but who knows, they might still have it in mind to build it for pCARS 2.

Agreed about the car and track list. Shame the physics are completely hopeless. Interesting though I thought EA only has rights to IP (like the name of the game), but not actual in-game assets (car and track licensing permitting of course). I seem to recall people saying some tracks in PCARS are direct ports (touched up a bit) from Shift 2.
