Why so many "standard" cars in GT6?

Putting on a lip kit or a car-specific spoiler or de-winging a car is cool and all, but not entire necessary. Would be nice to have that option for every car, but as long as I can drive, upgrade, and tune the dang car the same as I can with any premium, I don't care. I just want to have those cars, whether they are upgraded to premium or not, I want them. If you don't see a need for them, then your taste in cars blows, because there are so many good standards.

Really, you wouldn't care if the first NSX Type R disappeared forever? Or the trio of E46 M3's? Mustang SVT Cobra R? Honda DC2? S2000 '99? Jaguar XJ220? Lotus Carlton? Mercedes SL65 AMG? 190E? Mitsubishi Evo '94? Subaru STi '92? Nissan 240Z? Toyota Celica GT-Four? Supra? MR2?

HAHAHA! I'm sorry, what? I actually want those cars that are standard to be treated like how the premium cars are treated, and be rebulit from the ground up. It would suck to see them go, yes, but I won't feel down either because hey, there'll return someday as a premium model.

Your taste in wanting to keep those cars that are in standard form blows way more, because at least me and others actually want all cars to be treated with respect, AND to the manufacturers who built them. They have history too if you haven't noticed, so who not treat them with love, not like 🤬.

Why take them out at all? PD can work on updating the standards while they are still in the game. Let's say they have a premium NSX Type R '92 ready to go by tomorrow. You boot up GT6 tomorrow and there's a small update and a notification telling you that the NSX Type R '92 now has a detailed interior etc...No reason to remove standards until their premium counterpart is ready.

That would work too, I even kinda like it. But I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. It's better to not have them in the game AT ALL, but bring them back as DLC with new cars included after there rebuilt. This will encourage PD to do more rebuilding with cars that are standard, and be given money from DLC purchases for their hard work.

Or possibly make them free, and the new cars to be paid for.

*Yawn* Yeah go ahead and call me a troll over the truth. Let's have over 1200 cars with 800 of them being ports from a last gen game... It's good to have extras in games, but when the game doesn't allow or let you utilize all of them, than what's the point of having those extras in the first place?

Here comes the next excuse. La la la I can't hear you...

Not my problem. They'll be in 7. That's good for me. Maybe not for you. Usually people stick their fingers in their ears when they don't want to hear things they don't like, so that pic is fitting for you. You can't take opinions like mine. It ends up in you writing a few rhetorical paragraphs.

Don't go there, because some folks that dislikes hearing negativity on here are the excat same by trying to shut a person who writes them up, even though it's his or her opinions. You're one of those people too so, nice try but try again.

Uuhhhhm....does anyone else care that there's about 300 different premium cars in the game that look better than any other cars on the PS3 system...not to mention...there's 300 of them....

Standards really don't look that bad either.

I thought it was clear that removing a standard car doesn't bar the car from ever appearing again from the series as a premium?

Toko is hung up on something that is irrelevant to the game's production. He is only wasting his own time by typing and thinking about it constantly.

It still removes my ability to drive them in the meantime, and that's not really necessary.

I drive standards more than half the time I spend on GT6. I don't like many of the premium cars, just like you don't like many of the standard cars.
Fair enough, though my argument is that if PD actually made use of the cars then we honestly won't even need 1000 + cars.

Looking at games like MCLA, NFS Shift, TDU2, Grid Autosport, their car count can't even touch that of GT's, and yet they can be extremely fun, because these games doesn't rely on having a high car count to be fun, rather, they rely on making good use of the cars.

While I do agree, PD keeps them in because they don't want to remove them and risk taking someone's favorite car out. Which is also why I would guess is part of the reason why there's so many standards. A: because it would take a lot of time converting them into premiums and B: they don't want to change/remove anything to make sure they don't take someone's favorite car out of the game which, in my opinion, is respectable and completely understandable.

Bluh bluh bluh
Can you get off my back? Your just like that guy from Youtube who's still butthurt over me not racing him, and goes around the internet yelling "Oh he's a troll" and all that crap. Like go back to playing G.T.6. instead of attacking me.

Back in 2001-06 they didn't but they look abysmal now when compared to the works of art PD is capable of putting out.

Can you two find a room, jeez  I don't think that discussing standard cars is irrelevant to the game's production. I'll have to agree, 1200 cars is moot when a majority of them are duplicates (or very close ones at least) or of horrible quality compared to other cars in game.

And I did have an idea back in Gran Turismo 5 when the premium XJR-9 came out. I wanted PD to replace the standard model with the premium one in an update that came with the DLC pack. I can't tell anyone how mad I was when they didn't do it and CHARGED you for a car that's ALREADY IN THE GAME. (Well, it did come with the other cars in the pack but that's irrelevant. On a side note take that Turn 10) :p

Oh and, I'm gonna get burned for this but :sly:, Forza car diversity > Gran Turismo.

(Please don't kill, report, or sue me, it's just my opinion anyways :nervous:)

This is where your argument breaks down. Nobody hates standards. What we dislike is the idea of standard resolution, 10 year old cars in a next generation game. We would also like as many cars as possible but are willing to give up the old models in order to have a competely next generation experience for GT7. Having everything at a very high level of graphic fidelity is important to us.

You and others that think like you aren't concerned about graphical consistency, nor about other issues like upgrading cars equally, livery editor consistency etc. We hear all the time that you don't think they look that bad. Maybe they don't on a 32" TV or if you're playing in 720P. But on any modern, 42"+, 1080P TV they will absolutely stick out like a sore thumb on the PS4. You guys don't care. We do.

That's kind of the kicker isn't it? The gameplay itself is so weak that it must rely on a huge car count to satisfy the faithful.

👍

Ladies please, stop fighting. Look, if you don't like Standards, there's enough Premiums in the games to work around them. I was never forced to drive a standard but I don't mind driving them personally. Unless you're willing to wait for years for PD to add a duplicate premium car along with a standard (they won't take standards out of the game, they'll do what they did with the Veyron's) then accept that you don't have to drive standards and arguing about it on here isn't going to get us anywhere.

For crying out loud, how many threads do we need about this? We know.

Anyways, what's wrong with standards being in the game? Seriously, all they're doing is giving you a bigger variety of cars to drive. Who cares if they're recycled from GT4, they still drive close to if not very similarly to the real thing, I'd know I own two "standard" cars irl and they're disturbingly close in terms of driving character.

It's your choice, why should you care if they're there, just avoid them if you don't want them. Granted, you're missing out on a lot of great cars, but that's on you.

Just because you don't want something in a game doesn't mean the rest of us don't. I dig the standard cars believe it or not, it's nice enough that they kept them instead of scrapping them. The universe can't cater to the whim of everyone y'know.

Some of the best most enjoyable cars are standards, they must prevail :D Cars like Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1600, Benz 190E, BMW 2002 Turbo, Isuzu Bellet GTR, Celica TA22, Honda S800, Dodge Charger, Pontiac Tempest GTO, and many more ( hundreds of them )

Can't forget the Ford RS200

I'd be happy if they modeled all cars to standard car standard. There is no need for graphical perfection, would much rather resources were directed towards other areas - better AI, better physics, higher frame rates, more cars on track.

Lack of imagination will ruin immersion faster than standard cars.

I drove DC2 Integra Type R on my last play, I want that in premium , but I'll make do with standard for now. I drove the car in real life once when I was in Oz, an almost stock one, except for super stiff suspension and race LSD + Toyo Proxes, maybe roaring exhaust too :p

I didnt say discussing...I said porting the cars is irrelevant to production. There is no production there. You misunderstood.

No they really don't look that bad. There will always be the pixilated king of course but generally they all don't really look too bad. Only time you're really going to notice their blockyness is when you're photo mode.
