Why the hell did they take the force feedback off the rumble strip

Seriously who was the genius behind taking out the force feedback on the rumble strips and the bumpy banks for the Nurburgring.

Unbelievable

Its still there, just not as "drastic" if you will..

What do you mean? For my DFGT, I could feel every centimeter of the rumble strip as I leap over them at high speeds.. Or do you mean the DS3?

I use wheel and controller and there's feedback on both. It vibes quite hard on the DS3.

Some have it and some dont... dont ask me why... at first I though, well ones are sort of like a saw and you get the fell others are just sort of flat and you dont but then I realized that even though you could ear the saw on the tyres and see it on some rumble strips you dont feel a thing... same goes for the cobblestone stone road in the Rome circuit... in GT3 you could really feel it through the FFB in GT5 you can only ear it... a bit of a fail if you ask me.

DFGT by the way.

I'm using the g25 and some strips have feed back but most have zero feedback while the visual is showing the car shake.
The hard Nurb banks now have zero vibration

G27 here. Realistic steering. Feedback strength-10. Assist - off.
Feedback is weak, comparing with prepatch strength. It was better before. 100% shure.

PD / Thrustmaster is probably just pee'd that the G25 and G27 is far more popular than the T500RS, hence they decided to nerf the G25 and G27.

But yeah, there is less feedback going over rumble strips than in the past. I believe this is the result of PD trying to fix the issue where the wheel would just wobble violently and uncontrollably when driving the high speed racing cars, namely the F1 and X1.

Ideally, PD should allow us to adjust the steering wheel more in-depth.

I use the G25 and there has been no change.

One has always been missing - the kerb on the outside of Brunnchen, which only gives a vibration once you're eight feet off the track, rather than on the kerb where it should be. Otherwise, no vibration issues here.

I did the Ring 24hr with the most recent game version.

It's weird I played some more GT5 and it seemed like the force feedback is back, but maybe weaker than before. Not sure if it is something to do with playing the game right after it is patch or am I just getting use to it, but I felt like my second round of playing GT5 which included restarting my PS3, I was able to feel some feedback on the rumble strips I swear didn't have any feedback before.

My settings are G25
Simulation
Power assist OFF
FF Strength 10

Interesting. Perhaps the supposed "weakened" force feedback is just the result of a placebo effect.

That was introduced in 2.04 patch because kids complained wheels shaking in the straights. FFB sucks for me after 2.04 patch.

Maybe PD didn't want a mass of compensation claims coming in saying "GT5 destroyed my steering wheel, I want a new one"...?

It was introduced because the combination of DFGT and F1 resulted on an uber harsh spiky undriveable FFB pre 2.04. So, as everything with PD they fixed that and broke something else.

When you have at least 5 different steering wheels..

ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY

modify the source FFB and expect everything is ok for everyone.

It's definately different with my G25.

You only have to get into the Ferarri F1 2010 to see that. No more constant vibration when you're travelling down a straight.

As for the rumble strips, I've found them weaker in FFB especially the more centred the wheel is. It's as if they put some kind of dead zone in the wheel. Not completely dead just much weaker than before.

I'll be honest with you, I've upped my FFB from 4 with Power Steering ON to 8 with Power steering OFF. Now it is beginning to give better feeling but still not what it was.

Keep in mind though as someone said above that not all "rumble strips" are the same, some are virtually flat and just mark the edge of the road, whilst others are raised curbs or saw-toothed nastyness and in a real world scenario can finish off your suspension (as we saw with Massa not too long ago, forget where?)

Biggest problem in console games is that developers do not give us options. They just still stereotype console gamers to be very different from PC gamers. It would be simple thing to have both FFB models available for player to choose from. Better still they should have changed the FFB ONLY for F1 cars! Or better still, separate rumble strip FFB as own slider.

Of course now it is very easy to improve FFB for GT6 and everybody will notice the difference :D

I believe it was at the 2011 gp of Dubai. He took a tight left hander with his left front hitting the raised green curbing blowing out his suspension and sending him into the gravel pit.

On topic though, GT5's curbing feels smoothe even when riding on top of the raised red and whites, but when watching touring cars or even F1 cars riding them it looks as if the car is harder to control. The only rumble strips that feel the best (IMO) are the ones at spa.👍

Or even better do like most Pc Sims, give us a controller.ini with all the FFB values available for tweaking. Gt5 is no different, it could have it anytime, it's PD the problem.

I am going to have a look at this later on. I use a T500RS with aids of only ASM on and abs 1. I to will use the F1 car for this.

It seems like people using DFGT driver which includes the CSW are fine but people using G25 or G27 are royally screwed

Its always been like this... It was my first complain when I first got the game on release day. You can feel some rumble strips but most you dont feel a thing and Im on the official logitech wheel (DFGT)

So after reading numerous complaints of nerfing the FFB, I have a simple question.

If you could go back to pre 2.04 would you?

I still haven't updated from 2.03, because the 'feel' is too important to give up. But sacrificing the online aspects is getting old:(
