Well I'm glad there isn't a race series for the BMW Z4m as it's a pretty piss poor performer vs. other cars in it's class such as the Porsche Boxster / Cayman and Honda S2K. Hell the 135i post quicker lap times. BMW should come out with a decent roadster. But yeah Mazda's are raced more often than any other car manufacture and the Miata is HUGELY popular.

Have any of you won the Mazda Furai Concept 08'? Talk about an awesome car... It's only weakness is top speed at only ~ 185mph.

Nope, but I've noticed that there are a lot of Japanese cars :D

It's hardly surprising that there are a lot of seasonals involving Japanese cars in general let alone Mazdas considering where the game was made... but there is still plenty of time for other cars to be chosen to feature in future seasonals.

Because Mazdas are just better, you haven't driven until you've driven an MX-5 on a mountain road.

I doubt that the selection of events has anything to do with "is this car popular or not". For example, GT-Rs have a huge fanbase in all over the world... We have atleast 60 different skylines in this game. But no skyline event (except the bonus race).
M3 has huge following here in europe, GTs biggest market, especially the e36. But still we have no M3 race.

I really think that the most plausible answear to the OP question is, that Mazda wanted PD to make special Mazda races. I wondered from the beginning why they made a 787b premium, from which they already had a standard model. Yes, the 787B is a great car which has won the 24hr of LeMans, but we have plenty of other LeMans winners which are only standard. Maybe they said "Ok, we allow you to make our 787B premium, but you have to make some Miata races. We need new customers, advertising this car in a videogame which is mostly played buy young men is exactly the thing we need".

Two points: the prominance of Nissans and Skylines in the game is due to PD's relationship with Nissan (they've designed cars together, Nissan sponsors GT Academy, etc) and Kazunori Yamauchi's love for the Skyline. I've never seen them do this with any other manufacturer, Mazda included.

Secondly, yes there are many cars that have large followings and are huge competitors in motorsports, but the Mazda Miata has had spec racing leagues for over a decade. It's more than just popularity, it's the fact that there are Miata racing series all over the world. Big difference there because you don't really see that with any other car. Just my 2¢. :)

The 787B is the only Japanese car to win, so it's fairly important from that standpoint, even moreso to a Japanese company. 👍

That and it sounds amazing.

I'm thinking it's just because it was part of the deal for including the Leguna Seca track in GT5. It's the only track in the game that is sponsored by a car manufacturer. Mazda hosts many events on this track in real life.
