This is my first time registering and when i go the chat room its says i been banned and why is this? My brothers and cousins use this computer too so i don't know if they messed around because they play GT5 too.

I'd love to help, even with my meager experience dealing with the site staff, but you told us nothing. Did it say what you were banned for?

The only thing I can say that's of even slight relevance is that the bans you really want to read about never seem to get even a passing mention in the banned user log.

I know. I love reading it every now and then for a laugh, but it rarely gets updated. :(

Whenever I see a well known user get banned, I always check to see what they were banned for and most times it isn't even updated.

I know right! :grumpy: Though I'm not complaining. I don't want to end up on the list. :p That Noisaturismo guy got banned didn't he? I wanted to know why.

I actually checked the banned user log after I saw he was banned.

Would be nice if there was a set number of posts to qualify for the banned user log. After say, 400, a quick write up is mandatory. By that time they could have made friends/enemies. I suppose it would be too much extra work for the mods though.

Yeah, maybe it depends on who it was who gave them the ban hammer. Only particular mods do a write up in the BUL. Or they just can't think of a short enough explanation that includes the entertainment factor.

There is just one thing that is wrong with the Banned User Log thread.
It DIRECTLY goes against this part in AUP

You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.

Pointing out people like that is similar to the dark age rituals where you chain people in front of the town square so that people can harass the judged and even toss rotten stuff on them.

A short, humorous paragraph about why a person was banned, especially if it contains no insults... and we do our best to ensure there are no insults in the BUL... isn't exactly abuse. Especially if any abusive comment listed is a direct quote of what the banned user posted in order to get banned. While we did many of those humorously, we always kept the AUP in mind and stuck as much as possible to the facts.

If you do spot any direct insults in the BUL, please DO report them, and we will be happy to amend that entry.

As for chat, I never moderate in there, since my browser and bandwidth make it difficult, so I'll leave that to another mod to explain.

Did the OP get their answer?
I would say, as your cousin and brother use the same computer and therefore IP address, that is why. Only one account per IP I believe. But the lack of details doesn't help for a clear answer.

That's not always true. Famine and Milford_Cubicle both have an account, presumably from the same IP. I think the IP thing is for previously banned members.

That will be an exception rather than the rule.

As I said, details are sparse in the OP. His brother or cousin may have been given the boot for all we know. Or they might never have had an account here.

When I go into the chat room its says in quotes "You have been banned" which shocking to me because I never entered the chat room and this is my first time registering. I talk to my brother and he said he had a account on this site and he was a acting childish in the chat room and he called the chat room admin names. I can tell you my brother is an idiot :grumpy: and I don't know why it did not just banned him and not me too.

Your account was created after "your brother" was banned. Not for the first time, incidentally.

Some coincidence and so I guess the ban has something to do with IP right?

Probably. Makes sense though because if you "two" are accessing the site from the same location there is no way to tell who is using which screen name.

Maybe you should tell "your brother" to behave. I assure you that if you set a good example for "him", your problems will disappear. :sly:

More than that, I wanted to figure out why mafia_boy's pals Leo and Paulie were banned. He said "BS reasons" but without knowing something about the circumstances around their bans I don't know if he's telling the truth. And was IWinYouLooz (can't remember his GTP name) one of those people or was he banned seperately, in another undescribed incedent?

EDIT: It's DLR, and it looks like he's gone forever. Drives me nuts when I see a well-known member suddenly permabanned with no noise or fanfare, all relevant posts deleted, basically no way of knowing how such a core member could have gotten the boot so suddenly.

This. I want to know how Azuremen warranted a temp ban. At least there's a description in the thread, but would be nice to see what happened.

I guess we're just a bunch of nosey 🤬.

With him, I can probably make a pretty accurate guess as to what happened. He has a loooooong history of behaving like that - remember, he was the guy who started that pony flood in the funny pic thread. I guess he finally stepped on enough toes to make one set of them kick back.

Though I'd still like to see just how arrogant he had to get to be given a vacation.

If a member is banned why should you have to know why they got banned?

Well it's a bit of a laugh really. A rogue's gallery. I remember the first time I stumbled upon the banned user log. It was a pleasant surprise.

You have to be a premo member to find that out. There was a discussion taking up 3/4 pages in one of the threads in the infield on Azuremen's banning. He's only banned for 5 days though.

If a member is banned why should you have to know why they got banned?

Because then we don't have separate threads or off-topic posts about why Member X is banned.

To be honest, I only post bans if they have a real posting history; short-lived members do not deserve a visible public notice of any sort (but a private log is generated, anyhow).

If you really want to know, you could ask him when he returns because his ban is only temporary.

Seems nosey to enquire why someone was banned. They were banned because they contravened site rules. Does it matter which one? Anything super major would overspill into a main thread.

I can't deny sometimes I'm intrigued given the humourous tidbits written by the mods in the log but I can't say that I'm honestly that interested.
