will gt6 end like gt5?

this is wondering me since i read on facebook that gt5 servers will close. when gt7 comes out will gt6 servers also close?
i paid a lot for the gt6 and my money would be a waste if gt6 servers would close

what do you guys think?

Yeah service will end eventually. Especially since PSN is somewhat different on PS4. No idea when that will be the case though.
 
they could at least keep the gt6 servers since it was the last one for the ps3, makes me sad wasting 80 euros to know the online services will end shortly, since gt7 comes next year

It doesn't mean that the services will be cut immediately when GT7 comes out. Although I do think that it will happen rather quickly as Sony probably would want everybody to switch to the paid PS4 PSN. But either way we still have a couple of months of online service for GT6 to go so plenty of time to enjoy online racing. ;)

No software runs in perpetuity, the better question would be when will it happen. I'd be surprised if anyone at Sony/PD could, much less would tell us at this stage, though, so there's no way to answer that one.
 
they could keep the servers to the people who cant afford a ps4 like me lol.
lets hope they wont shutdown the servers

It already is coming to an end. Traffic on this site is one indicator of the numbers still playing GT6. To me it feels like we are already slowing down to levels of post comments close to the three year mark for GT5. That is a bit frightening. GT5 took three years to slow down. GT6 took six months.

Servers for GT6 will close a few months after GT7 comes out just like GT5 did. The reason for this is simple, you're going to have to pay to play GT7 online so they don't want the free game hanging around for too long. That's why the GT5 servers closed so quickly IMO, to get you used to the idea. That way when they close early for GT6 people will defend it by saying, "well that's what they did for GT5 so it's fine". Like the way people constantly spout that GT had 2 games per console therefore GT6 has to be on PS3 instead of PS4 as if it's written on a stone tablet somewhere and found in a cave in the middle east.

You will need PS+ service for the PS4 to be able to play online. For what it's worth PD will have to deliver better online services for GT7 if they will be paid.

They better do.. I'm scared about how expensive it can be monthly to play GT7 online. :nervous:
 
If its like GT5, count 3 years and a half. So by mid 2017 the GT6 online services will close. Thats quite far in the future I'd say.

PD is on the clock right now as PS4 is out and they have no GT title on the menu. Based on GT6 content, the direction of GT will become more and more online-dependent which will likely require upgraded servers, not simply reworked hand-me-downs from GT5 and even 6 service. Anyone here think PD will wait even two years (late '15 release) to get GT7 out there? The 3 1/2 year run for GT5 was outstanding all things considered. GT6 will never see that level of support.

I really hope they don't. I plan to wait for the price to drop before I buy a PS4 so I imagine I'll be using my PS3 for some time yet, like many others. Personally I wouldn't exactly be encouraged to buy a PS4 if the online services for the current gen were switched off so soon. Such a blatant attempt to get at my money would only encourage me to move away from console gaming altogether.

I think 5's servers were shut down in an attempt to get people to pay out for one more PS3 title, yes, but that's not as bad. At least you don't need new hardware to continue playing online. I don't think they'll do the same with 6's servers come the release of GT7. I think they'll stay up for at least a year after it comes out. Such a move would be too obvious a money grab IMO.

Thanks for the info mate. 👍 Anyway is not so expensive..at least not as much I was thinking... It's not cheap since you have to buy the game itself too..but it's still in my reality,so I'm ok with that for now. :lol:
