In a previous post I asked if GT7 needed to be more difficult. There were some interesting replies, but most avoided my most important question. WILL GT7 SELL.

IMO GT6 has been an unmitigated disaster. Look at the sales figures. GT1-10.8 million, GT2-9.8 million, GT3-14.8 million, GT4-11.4 million, GT5-10 million, GT6- according to latest figures around 2.5 million.

WHY?. What did we get, a few more cars, a few more tracks, YIPPEE. The worst and shortest career mode ever. To the average buyer this is the backbone of every GT generation. But oh what did we lose, SO MUCH!.

I have been a fan of GT since my son, knowing I was a great fan of motor racing introduced me to GT1 15 years ago. Through the years I have had two PS1s, two PS2s and three PS3s. Since I retired on a disability pension 10 years ago the game has become an integral part of my life.

So the important question is will I and enough other people pay £400+ for a PS4 and GT7. At the moment I,m not sure. I want the GT franchise to go on forever but I think I will wait for the reviews of GT7 when it is released before I buy it and this saddens me.

Depends how PD approach developing a game on the PS4. If they insist on keeping standard cars and GT4 tracks, sales will take another hit. Boosting track and car count is not a valid reason to use PS2 assets, it is laziness. I wouldn't mind if they scaled back content (halving the car count would be fine, as long as all are premium models) for some more consistency. PD just need to sort out some of the fundamental components to justify GT as a flagship racing game for the PlayStation, otherwise people are going to lose interest very soon.

Unfortunately but yes, but if they don't do something about the loud tire squeal i won't buy GT7 ( That's a promise PD ), when i play GT6 and have to use cars with the worst tires i have to turn the volume on my tv to absolute minimum.
I am halfway through A-Spec, but i don't going to finish the game if they don't do someting about it, or give us an option to turn the tires sound down.

Of course it will sell, racing/sports games will dominate the next gen (IMO). They'll finally be able to produce ultra realism in their games. People will buy GT7 just to watch the cars shine, I know I will - and I can't wait, no matter how much GT6 disappointed me. GT6 shouldn't have even released on the PS3 junk hardware.

In GT-6 PD used the theory "If you build it they will come". Judging by the sales figures they didn't. If PD wants to get their fan base back the theory has to be "If you build it BETTER they will come". There are many more alternatives now than ten years ago.

I'm pretty sure people will.
GT6 was released right near launch time for the PS4. A lot of people that got a PS4 don't feel like getting their games on PS3 anymore. Since GT6 is similar to GT5 in a lot of ways, people will just wait for the first GT to arrive on PS4.

My guess -> GT7 will far outsell GT6 because it'll be the first one on the PS4.

source: this is exactly why a couple of my friends didn't by GT6, but will be getting GT7 when it's released.

I think it will sell cuz it will be 1st GT 4 ps4. But!!!
They will probably add 3,4 new tracks, 50 more cars and the rest is copy paste from gt6

WILL GT7 SELL?
Not to me.

I was a low-info buyer of GT6. Unfortunately for me, my original PS3 started throwing fits trying to play Blu-Rays and certain game titles (primarily GT5) in January, so to make the purchase of another seem more cost-effective, I treated (heh!) myself to a new game at the same time. I knew about the new Mustangs and Camaros, and that was it for my knowledge of GT6. So even my tiny percentage of responsibility for that ~2.5mil sold was completely a matter of bad timing.

WHY?. What did we get, a few more cars, a few more tracks, YIPPEE. The worst and shortest career mode ever. To the average buyer this is the backbone of every GT generation. But oh what did we lose, SO MUCH!
Preach it, Brother; Preach it!

I was right behind you with GT2 at release. The Game So Bad it Needed TWO Discs!

I originally planned to skip this title when I heard the powers that be were planning to introduce monthly fees for online activities and that GT6 had in-game store availability, not to buy DLC such as cars or tracks or tuning mods, but credits. I'm no fan of DLC at all for a game I've already paid for, but must admit I got'em all for GT5. Considering the usage I got of the GT5 DLC, I can't complain much about it, except to say I paid for it, it should have been tradable just like it's counterparts organic to the original material in the game. If GT5 was the groundhog of the future, sticking it's finger in the wind to see which way it was blowing, and GT6 the heralding of the new age of gaming, with virtually no free-play but rather enticement after enticement to venture online, how can anyone expect less from GT7?
Simply put, the successor to GT5 should never have had all the bugs this game has. I fully get that GT5 wasn't the game it became at release but how does that excuse the horrors of GT6? One would hope GT5 would have been a lesson for PD, not a future business model. And OP, I know you were questioned about your price quote, but when you add in that monthly fee, which you'll NEED quite likely for activities, content and updates, with a possible massive onslaught of DLC opportunities, you underquoted, I believe.
GT7? No thank you.

Thanks to GT6 I'm done with Gran Turismo. I've played since the beginning with GT1 but GT6 has been a real disappointment for me since I pre-ordered and spent so much on making sure I had the best version available and to get it on the street date. If I'd gotten it a few weeks later at the much reduced price I might not be as upset with the game but for what I spent for what I got, nope, not doing that again. I'm pretty much done with console gaming as a whole though. There are far better sims on PC and I'm just plain tired of the greedy console model of keeping prices as high as possible. Plus in the now current gen PS4/XBone you have to pay an extra fee to play online.

Here's a comparison video of GT6, Assetto Corsa, and Project Cars, you decide if it's worth it to stick to consoles.

Although GT6 has it's issues, I still feel it is one of the best GT games in the series. In fact it's number two on my list. GT4, was the best- GT6- #2 then GT2, GT3 GT 1 and GT5 gets last for that crazy RPG experience points thing. I will gladly play GT6 until GT7 hits the shelves. Also it'll give me a reason to buy a PS4- there hasn't been a great game out there yet that made me want to buy a PS4 yet- but GT7- yep I for one cannot wait. But GT6 will only get better kinda like GT5 did (although a RPG experience system still makes me go Grrrrr.) :)

I am sure gt7 will sell ok. Even though it will take years longer than anticipated to come out, we will also be suckered into paying for a prologue, it won't have any of the things that the diehard GT community has been asking for for years, it will be expensive and we will have to buy an expensive console to play it, and pay to play it online. I am sure it will still sell ok because it will be shiny and new and most of the common gamers will be wowed by it. It will also be the only mainstream racing game on ps4. I am hoping pcars lives up to the hype, and can deliver their product in a timely manner and give Kaz's and GT a run for their money. Force GT to up its game and finally deliver what we've been begging for. Here's my money please take it, but give me something good in return!

The problem with videos like this is Youtube quality is far below all three games so they all end up looking about the same.

I totally agree that this form doesn't show each in its best light. It does, even at the lower resolution of the individual panes, show a marked difference in visuals but what's most noticeable is the difference in sound quality. I've been watching individual HD videos of Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, and others as well. Plus I not only watch GT6 vids in 1080p but that was the mode I played in as well before my PS3 recently died. The differences become even more apparent in full screen HD and it sadly shows just how far behind GT has fallen.

I'm sure that GT7 will sell fine being the first release of the series on the PS4 but I won't be buying it. PD burned that bridge with me. Honestly the most painful part of that is that I'll lose touch with this awesome community when everyone switches over to that version and I'll have to move on for lack of common ground. :(

The awesome community will still be here never fear. We'll all just move over to the Forza/PCars/Assetto Corsa etc. section of GTP.

I hope dearly that someone at PD reads this and sees the generalized displeasure with what they're doing.

I was frustrated byGT5 and was hoping for GT6 to be much better. All I got was Bathurst, some ten or so great cars and new Daiki Kasho music. For $60. And they expect me to spend $600 or so again in the future for a new console + steering wheel + collectors edition? Sorry, not after all this disappointment, the proven ineptitude to fix the simplest things in the game (despite being able to make a genius graphics engine and a properly fun physics engine) and disregard for me as a customer. And even less so considering that the competition is fiercer than ever, and much better, simply put.

🤬 you PD. I've had it with you.

If the poll I set up a while ago is anything to go by, yes it will sell. But not as much as previous ones judging by the amount of "no's."

I think it's going to come down to "do you already have/plan to have a PS4 minus consideration for GT7?". This would be the title that prompts me to purchase a PS4 anytime in the foreseeable future. As it is, that's a big no for me. My eyes don't play FPS games anymore and I'm over The Sims. So unless PS4 can make my morning coffee and bring me Egg McMuffins, it's just not on my "to do" list.

You should check out GRID Autosport @CarBastard. Codemasters also messed up on GRID 2 due to not listening to the fans, but now that they do listen to their fans, their new game is A LOT better now. Trust me, you'll be amazed. 👍 GRID Autosport is also for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. :)

Honestly, I don't see PD ever being like that. They simply don't care about us, and we shouldn't about them either.
