While I would like to see him win a 5th championship I am not sold that he will definitely win another one. When he retires he will still go down as one of the top 5 greats in the sport in terms of accomplishments.
I know i'm going to sound alittle too optimistic when I say this, but seeing that Jeff has about 10 years left in his career I think it's possible for him to tie Earnhardt and Petty in Championships. I'm not saying that it will happen but it would be nice. Johnson will certainly tie those two or hell maybe even pass them!
Jeff has way less than 10 years. I can't envision him racing past 2016 or 2017 quite frankly.
Look at Dick Trickle he raced for a long time, and was into his 60s before getting out of Nascar.
Yeah but look at mark martin. He's in his 50's still racing. Dale Sr raced till his death at 49.
Jeff Gordon ≠ Mark Martin. It doesn't make a difference what any other driver does.
Morgan Shepard is still racing. He's 70.
If I recall correctly, Jeff Gordon would have won two of the championships that have been run under the chase rules had they been under the pre-chase rules. (e.g. he scored the most points over the whole season)
I know one of them was one of Jimmie Johnson's titles. I don't know which other one though, so I'd say he's definitely got at least one more in him.
