So now that Ps5 support VRR do u think in a later update we will get this add to the game.
I'm here to say "I don't know" and "I really want it to".So now that Ps5 support VRR do u think in a later update we will get this add to the game.
VRR(variable refresh rate) not VRI'm here to say "I don't know" and "I really want it to".
Cockpit view in VR is amazing on other games, and with how great GT7 looks VR might make it one of the most immersive driving game experiences ever.
Here's hoping!
Oops... my bad! My points still stand though! Ha ha.VRR(variable refresh rate) not VR
I’ve tried this morning.Has anyone checked if the game triggers VRR even if it’s not officially supported? Some games are getting improved performance even though it’s not officially supported.
I don’t think the benefits will be huge though. The game is already almost a full lock on the target fps and I don’t see them adding a 120 fps mode.
Possible why I see no difference then.I just did some testing and you cannot force VRR on GT7. My TV shows live input type and rate. I have VRR set to AUTO and 'Apply to Unsupported Games' set to TRUE. LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga shows VRR enabled but GT7 states fixed 60 VRR disabled.
I think mine does (LG65 BX). I’ll test it tonight and report back.Does your TV have a way to analyse the incoming signal? On the LG you press the green button a bunch (maybe 5 times rapidly?) and it shows some stats which are a live representation of the source. It's very useful for this testing. I'm happy Sony finally pushed this PS5 firmware.
It does, not showing VRR however. ☹️Does your TV have a way to analyse the incoming signal? What about the Replays though, have you noticed a difference there?!I’ve tried this morning.
So I’m using a Sony 77” A80J with my PS5 plugged into the HDMI 4 set to VRR.

As GT7 isn’t patched yet I set it to Apply to Unsupported Games.

But I noticed no real change to the game. As ALLM can’t be turned off on the PS5 (it can be forced off by running it through an AV or Soundbar with HDMI 2.0 but then you don’t get VRR) at the time you can’t have Dolby Vision with VRR etc.
So HDR10, VRR, ALLM and 60Hz or 120Hz.
GT7 still looks fantastic and is smooth as butter, but I’m not sure if VRR will be a benefit or not, until I can test it if they do an update.
I really doubt we'll see anything in terms of difference until there's a patch. For now it simply does not even enable VRR even when forced AFAICS.What about the Replays though, have you noticed a difference there?!
I‘m very curious as I like watching them a lot.
Anyway will test it later too, as I own a 75“ x900h which supports VRR.
But maybe you already have an answer to that so I’m not having to test it 😬
Edit: Because the frame drops in Replays are not bearable, really killing the immersion
Sorry, didn’t notice a difference. As @CamPatUK said, it doesn’t seem to enable the VRR at the moment. What about the Replays though, have you noticed a difference there?!

I always get frame rate fixed. I tried a different game, astro’s playroom which has VRR and on this game my tv says VRR, but not in gt7. I even tried the replays on the RT mode and I got the same results. We’ll have to wait for a patch.I really doubt we'll see anything in terms of difference until there's a patch. There's enough of hitching, frame drops and and pop in that makes me think the ps4 might not be the reason for some of the short comings.Ratchet and clank In performance mode is 100fps with vrr, so I thing Gt7 can run at 100 or 120 fps with vrr, but I feel ps4 part of the build is holding the game back
VRR kicks in to prevent tearing. If your game dips, and the entire screen dips, vrr isn't going to make get rid of that dip.VRR [reety much needs an unlocked framerate to work properly, VRR will only really kick in when the framerate dips
I take this as a positive but maybe I'm being optimistic. To me, it seems, that devs must be able to disable VRR in code so I am hoping they have disabled the forced VRR so they can patch in proper VRR.In the latest digital foundry video on this topic, they say out of 20/30 games they tested, only GT7 couldn’t force VRR. We are so privileged 😂
It must be because in all ps4 games you can’t enable VRR either.I take this as a positive but maybe I'm being optimistic. To me, it seems, that devs must be able to disable VRR in code so I am hoping they have disabled the forced VRR so they can patch in proper VRR.
Am I crazy? Surely it'll support it eventually? Unless it's tied to the physics but that hasn't seemed to be the case when the frames dip.
Don’t get me wrong. I think it will improve but this would give ps5 players with VRR displays an advantage because of faster response times. Not that this advantage couldn’t come from better/different gear but they always seem to want to level it. Whether that’s just an excuse or not I don’t know but I would put it past then.Personally I think it would be a great help. One thing to bear in mind is that to achieve locked 60 you are leaving a lot of performance unutilised. I'd bet that GT7 can reach 80 or 90 fps in places and since it only very occasionally dips to 48 (under extreme stress that isn't normal) it could clean up the whole experience.
I look forward to lurking the thread about Gold CE @ Nürburgring for people who want times changed and ladders reset.Don’t get me wrong. VRR isn't really about tearing (it can work with or without tearing in principle). It's about letting the display refresh rate match the GPU frame rate more closely. Without VRR, a frame rate dip to 40-50 fps actually results in the display refresh rate jumping abruptly between 30 & 60 Hz. With VRR there are much smoother transitions.VRR kicks in to prevent tearing. If your game dips, and the entire screen dips, vrr isn't going to make get rid of that dip.
