Will we ever gonna have an open wheel racer in GT Sport?

@daan Since Gran Turismo has evolved to something far beyond your control since GT1 and GT2, you should go back and redesign your game. For crying out loud, you had 1200+ cars in the 6th iteration of your game and now you only have around 150, most of those are two time variants of the road car. Come on dude, you copped out! And then there is your lack of tracks, WTF DUDE!!!
To be able to make your own game, you’ll first need a lot of resources and money, especially if you want to make a game development studio so that you don’t have to make the game all or largely yourself. And if you’re going to do it on your own, then be prepared for the long and slow development of your game, depending on how large you want your game to be. So this argument of “Go make your own game” is a very dumb one, one that a lot of fanboys (including GT fanboys) use. Game development today is very expensive and time consuming. Why do you think DLC and micro transactions exist, other than game studios being greedy?

GT6 had 1200 cars, 800 of which were slightly upgraded PS2 or PSP models. Only 400 cars were Premium cars, where half of them were “GT6 Premiums”. And only a handful of those had some form of tesselation.

And while GT Sport admittedly has a big lack of tracks, they all at least have a pretty consistent and high model quality, and they all have at least 6 time variants. A lot of tracks in GT5 and 6 like Grand Valley, Deep Forest, Trial Mountain and Laguna Seca for example, were slightly upgraded PS2 tracks where only the road itself was re-textured.

Just seen this.

I'm happy with GT as it is thanks, whether there are formula cars in it or not. Having formula cars in there does not break the game for me. You've got the laser powered stupid car, and the physics defying Tomahawks for that.

GTS will also get better as more tracks are added. Some of the variants you mention are way more than that. Take the Atenza for example. You have an FF road car, a 4WD GT4 and a RWD GT3. That's not just a variant, that's a whole new, different feeling car.

The road Atenza should be AWD too going by the badge on the back.

Hamilton's car this time around instead of all the Vettel stuff, but yes.

One can only hope not. Hamilton......shudders at the thought.

If we did get open cars I would opt for the beauties at the beginning of this video

I don't know how you would even begin to get the physics right, but that would be amazing.

PD should give us generic F1, F2, F3 cars. With the livery creator the community can do the rest.

Such thinking should also influence future DLC. For example they could release a couple of LMP2 models and there'd be many dozens of real life liveries that could be created.

There is precedent for this with the old Super GT base model cars. Those always needed the livery editor and now that we have it they are suspiciously missing... :odd:

GTS’s “Rally” Racing should be called “ice” Racing, they really botched it!

Maybe they can take the current dirt physics, put it on a snow track and start over with dirt.

By that same type of reasoning a teenager should always remain a teenager.

That's a poor example and actually feeds the opposite argument. Once one exceeds the limits of the age classification, one is no longer a teenager and as such are excluded from that classification.

One of the reasons why I'm a fan of the GT franchise is the mix of several categories of cars in one game.

I really wish GTs would bring open-wheel cars or formula cars.

As Asseto Corsa, PC2 and Forza 7, put in their games, i would very much like my favorite franchise to put on as well.

But I did not like the formulas GT. I do not like the look of them. I think generic and without personality.

I would prefer PD to sign a contract with Ferrari, Mclaren, Red Bull, Honda, Toyota, Lotus, Renault, BMW and Mercedes to bring their models for a specific Formula 1 season.

It could be a 90's season, the time of Schumi, Mansell, Hill, Prost and Senna. And a season of the 00's with Schumi, Vettel, Alonso, Massa, Montoya and Barrichello. It would also be magical to bring the 1980s, period of turbo cars and visually gross and gigantic.

Just bring six models for each season. That was enough.

Why? So we can play with several visual options of cars formulas.

I would very much like it. Really.

Even the Indy car I like. But circuits should be present as well.

Yes! Absolutely!

I even want a RedBull fancar category, but that'll never happen :(

I am a big fan of open wheel cars so yes. They don't even need to be licensed, I would be happy with a Formula C, B, A and X like P Cars 2 has.

We need a poll for this, but yes, would love to have them back

If there's a place to race them, then yes.

The Gr1 car never get used at the moment and I would hate to see the same fate befall formula cars.

I’d love to see a return of the FGT. And let us change the settings and experiment with high and low downforce set ups!

In every decade, bring iconic cars.

But, it was necessary, however, the BOP tool, to balance the cars. Could you bring these cars, for example.

Six models per decade.

The 90's:

If there was to be an open wheel racer in GTS, chances are it would either not be an actual F1 car, or it would be a case similar to the F2007/F10 in GT5 or the Lotus 97T from GT6 - one-offs because their licensing rights happened to not be with F1.

Licensing the real thing, more often than not, is a funny game of what you can and cannot do with it. In the case of F1, there could, for instance, be a problem in driving their cars on a non-F1 track, which, in its current state, would give you a grand total of one track to play with them on. Or they could have a problem with the Livery Editor (that goes for one-offs too). Or cars of mixed eras racing together in a game that isn't the official F1 game. Lots of potential mine fields, and one doesn't need to be particularly imaginative to think of the solution.

By creating something that is similar enough that people can see what it's supposed to be and yet can in no way be affiliated with that party (for instance, the Formula GT had a 3.5 liter engine - F1 regulations between 1995 and 2005 stated a max. capacity of 3.0 liter, ergo it technically isn't a F1 car) basically gives you free reign. It's not quite as simple as that, but that gives the right idea. The Formula GT, for instance, isn't restricted to real tracks, nor is it necessarily forced to only race against duplications of itself for some license reasons.

With all that in mind, creating a new, original formula would be the wisest decision. Whether you're putting your own/a different livery on one. reducing power output to but a few hundred bhp and essentially create your own formula out of that or organising some form of FGT vs. Gr.1 series, the chances of some license holder throwing a fit, I'd imagine, would be minimal, and everybody wins.

Club single seaters would be awesome. They'd only need to do one model per series too for the likes of F4, F1000 or Formula Renault and there hopefully wouldn't be and licencing issues like there probably are with higher formulae.

Of course. Just as Megane overtakes Ferraris, McLarens and Vipers.

Nothing that the BOP tool can solve.

Its possible.

Holding contracts individually, with each automaker, no problem.

The GT franchise has already done that. Forza does this. Asseto Corsa does this. PC2 did this.

Asseto Corsa, by the way, brought the Ferrari's formula car season 2016 to the game.

So, no problem, man.

There is a solution. It's not that hard. The other games have succeeded, GT will get it.
