Anyone upgraded successfully yet?
When I click on the Get Windows Now logo this pops up.

If I click on Ok, let's continue it just goes into an endless loop.

Though reserved I am going to wait at least six months to get bugs ironed out before installing on my laptop. Windows 7 serves me fantastically so that's fine. Though I am going to dual boot my PC with two Windows 7 installs and upgrade one for test purposes I think...

Give it a few days before trying to get it. The Windows servers are swamped to the point where OS updates aren't happening.

I'm in the process of installing Windows 7 in a VM to upgrade to the Windows 10 RTM I have to see if I think its worth it. From what I've seen of it at work it looks alright.

I'm sitting here typing this on my laptop with Windows 10 successfully installed (from Windows 7), I've reserved it on my gaming PC as well (which has Windows 8.1 on it) but it says it isn't ready yet (the folder on c:\ is currently at around 6Gb though), so not sure what's going on there. I'll check it out a bit later.

I'm liking it so far on my laptop though.

Did you guys install all optional windows 8.1/7 updates as well as the important ones?

I know you need KB2976978 for the get Windows 10 thing to pop up but would you also install all optional the other stuff?

So I forgot that for some reason my FX-8350 doesn't like VMs.... Gonna have to try another machine.

I typed "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" into the command line and it forces the update.

Windows 10 will have forced updates.

I'm going to keep my Windows 7.

It's slightly unclear at the moment, from what I gather updates will be forced and downloaded automatically BUT you can choose when to install them. So in theory you could just let them pile up but it will waste ton's of GB's. It's part of MS's move to make Windows a service, not software which is kinda silly.

I typed "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" into the command line and it forces the update.

I installed all the optional updates and I now have the pop up.

I reserved a copy and now nothing is happening... I guess the servers will be swamped.

I still haven't got my update yet.
I reserved and all updates are there but not letting me download it.
I just restarted the computer again to see if it would maybe pop up.

Wow, I literally thought I bricked my Windows 7 drive because it kept crashing at the Install screen as soon as I click Next. Luckily I had a repair disc lying around so it fixed the problem, miraculously.

However I want to reinstall Windows 10 onto my SSD. I know that you can reinstall Windows 10 but I don't know if you can on a separate drive. Anyone confirm?

As far as I know, it's complicated. The Windows 10 that we get today is the upgrade DVD. Install Windows 7 on the SSD first with all of the updates and then install Windows 10.

Do you need to enter the product key for your Windows 7/8 copy or not?

(As a upgrade from Windows 7 to the Tech version to the full version) I did not.

Is there a checksum published somewhere for this download? I don't trust my internet.

Welp. I need some help regarding Windows 10.

So, when I saw that you can sign in for Windows 10, I instantly signed up as soon as I saw that the upgrade is free for Windows 7/8/8.1 users. But here's the thing: in Febuary my computer got infected with a pretty big virus, so I had to reset it completely. The PC was running on Windows 7, but since we've lost the product key, I thought that I had to get a new operating system. At the time I had my pocket money spend on something else, and I needed to do my exam on the PC (it was only one week left until I had to hand it to the teacher). Then I downloaded a cracked version of Win 8.1 Pro, everything worked fine. About a week ago my license expired, and the product key I used before to activate it doesn't work anymore. So, my question is: if I get me a new Windows, would I still get the upgrade to Windows 10 or not?

Still haven't had mine start to download yet, I wonder what the staggered release is like... are they doing a couple of million a day or just a few in which case mine will download August 2022.

I don't really want to try any unofficial method to force the download, the last time I upgraded from 8 to 8.1 my machine had to be replaced it was bricked so hard.

Right clicking on the bottom icon 'Windows 10 Upgrade' and 'Check your upgrade status' prompted me to start the Upgrade. Took about 35 minutes total.

Now for the anticipated headaches........glass half empty when it comes to Windows for me!
