Apart from the automatic driver installing upon setup (seriously Microsoft, at least give the option to disable this!), 10 is pretty good. It feels a lot nicer to use than 7 & 8, to me at least. So what does everyone think of Windows 10 ?

Well, I wait to see what happens with the paid version.
It's rumored MS is working on a less NSA-induced W10, which probably is the paid version.
There's no free stuff in this world. You pay your free Win10 with your personal details.
If that version is the same... i won't bother. No OS needs to phone home 5000 different ip adresses to check hour and update, and that with all privacy enabled, snooping disabled.
Even the Entreprise version, which has more options to be turned off still has massive phone home connections.
It's not that I have anything to hide. But I don't feel like sharing my life with every company in the world.
I mean, a keylogger, hard coded into the OS. WTF MS!! It's not like if I loose my password, that you would hand me it out. Or in case of an HDD failure give me a backup of my data they copy. Because that is their excuse for all that transmitted dataEvery picture viewed in the photo app tranmits a lot of data to MS... just for statistics naturally
It's very strange for a company to harress so much to give out free stuff. And then bundle it so you kind of force people (dx12, free Forza, no Skylake support,....)
Some stuff with Win10 look great. Some don't. UWP seems to become the next GFWL (Tombraider and GOW having problems)....
The whole Win10 leaves a very sour taste in my mouth, I don't get why so many people upgrade without the slightest refection on why MS is doing this....
Actually, no it's not. The bash command line shell and a number of development tools and command line utilities are being ported to Windows but that's it. In particular X is not being ported over. That means no GUIs, no "linux desktop". Of course there's always Cygwin, which has been around now for quite a few years. But it still has Windows running underneath, warts and all.Well, linux is coming to Windows. No reason to use Mac now.

Let alone all the individual apps you download.Curious, do you own a smartphone? Because they do just as much "snooping" and phoning home as W10 does. Google is also as much of a "keylogger" as W10 is. ie, it's really not.

Imo, its a good os. Many applications are now wanting to supoort it, versus telling you "oh well" and own a broken product.

Yes I own a rooted Galaxy S2 with Guardian Rom OS on it. No snooping there and I use my phone mainly as phone. Kid of the 80's.
For the apps, people are to blame if they download a flashlight app that needs access to internet, phone book, calander,....
At least they could give us the choice... if I don´t want to participate in the telemetry program (Norton gives me that choice for exemple), i should be able too. Even by going lenghts and firewall blocking all, doing reg edits, it still passes through.
Now you can say : Hey it´s a company, it can do with it products it wants.
MS gave you Win10 for free. So is it really yours? Is it a product or a service?
All points MS avoids and evades on every occassion.
And why do I get harressed on my legimate bought retail Win7 version with that upgrade. Some even forced upgraded.... (BTW, in EU at least, Windows bought copies (even only Key) are products that are owned by the customer with all the rights that it comes with.)
The whole Win10 is just not very kosher atm. And we all know after Snowden how such entities work.... Information is key, as much for the NSA as for MS...

Which bits of data specifically are you not happy they're collecting?
Microsoft needs to come clean and state everything it tracks, exactly what can and cannot be stopped by users and why. Now let's be clear: Windows 10 is Microsoft's product so it has the right to do whatever it likes with it, but only after a full disclosure to customers of its practices so they can make an informed choice about whether or not they wish to be a part of this data gathering process.
Any data whatsoever, if they're not forthcoming about what they're collecting and why, what they're doing with it, and who they're sharing it with.Which bits of data specifically are you not happy they're collecting?
Had that happen the other day. I tried to restart but i couldnt even bring that up in the start menu. Eventually i came back to my computer and all seemed well.So I've never had a problem with Windows 10 till now. If I click the Windows Button the start menu won't open, Cortana doesn't work and neither do any of the other icons on the quick launch, unless it's Chrome or Microsoft Office. C'mon Microsoft.
I'm just thinking about reinstalling through a usb. None of the commands work, I'm tired of playing around with it as well.Had that happen the other day. I tried to restart but i couldnt even bring that up in the start menu. Eventually i came back to my computer and all seemed well.
Have you tried rebooting your PC?I'm just thinking about reinstalling through a usb. None of the commands work, I'm tired of playing around with it as well.
Yes, many times. After I did that, it takes a while for it to load my desktop. Just a black screen with my mouse for one or two minutes and then it loads.Have you tried rebooting your PC?
That's strange. I think I had that problem when I had the 10 Preview installed on my computer (this was before 10 was released). Rebooting usually solves these problems.Yes, many times. It didn't in my situation :/That's strange. I think I had that problem when I had the 10 Preview installed on my computer (this was before 10 was released). Rebooting usually solves these problems.
