Windshield wipers and bad weather.

IDK about the wipers, especially since I think that most wipers would break at 100mph. And that would have to be rendered, along with possibly the rain.

But Rain-X, sure. I don't think that it'd be that hard to implement; it's not like it's rendering the rain. Just an effect for the screen, like in F1:CE. Although the cockpit view could be problematic then. Maybe a moving texture?

Senor Gato, windshield wiper extraordinaire.

I know at the local car wash, behind the local Qwik-E-Mart, the blow driers about blow my wipers off my car (2007 Mazda 6). I am doubtful that the wipers being stuck in the upright position will be implemented. The situation of the wipers being stuck in the upright position is inevitable due to adding a ton of HP, and speed, to a car that is designed to go no more than 100mph.

Wipers working on a Civic going 190mph=FAIL

no coz then it would be called a helmet wiper.... too funny

but F1 and motoGP dont have defrosters...ROFL

Actually, they do. They have very fine lines that run through the perspex glass 'you can't see them' that act to stop condensation building up and blurring vision.

What about a defroster? That is much more important, with the inclusion of snow, than frickin wipers. The sound of the fan blowing hot air would be soooo epic!

Make a USB fan, connect to your PS3. There you are, the real driving simulator, now with air conditioning!

Im hoping it will be automatic depending on the type of rain the wipers should adjust. I cant wait to race a Ferrari in the heaviest rain setting and at night on a windy track!

I wouldn't mind automatic wipers but I would prefer to use them manually with different speeds. Also with night racing perhaps we can have dimmed and full beam lights.

:)

They will be automatic IMO, but, PD has even observed how the fuel tank cover of the SLS is closed to reproduce it in the game perfectly, it may be possible that they put manual wipers, headlamps, movable windows and other little things like that. Awesome.

Well there is not going to be an issue with amount of buttons because in football games like FIFA theres pages and pages of button combinations to do different actions.

To be honest I think most of the die hard gt fans are going to want maximum control over there car and so am I :)

Would need the indicator stalks with a turn switch for lights, plus the controls for the wipers.Pull lever to operate passing lights & main/dipped head lamps. If this idea does become reality, would self cancelling indicators be taking it too far ?.

I think it would be cool to have it manual. It would bring the realism up a small knotch. It makes you react to the rain beyond the tires. You actually must think: Oh, I need to turn these puppies on. I've never felt that in a game before.

That wouldn't be that hard to do, from the hardware point of view.

I've just finished making a gear shift to replace the G25's, it's wired into a "butchered" Dual-Shock controller, you can basically add about 10-12 buttons or switches to control anything thats controlable in the game, I'm working on a button fitted to the gear stick for reverse and maybe one for a hand-brake as well.

If I can do it, trust me, anyone can !

Some what off subject, but I was thinking, If you have the option to turn the windshield wipers on/off, why not be able to turn the radio (if the car has one) on on/off. I know that's an "out there" idea, but it'd be so cool.

It'd have to be internet radio, therefore you can get all radio channels.Could make the steering wheel base bigger, so it's more of a dashboard & have a radio in there. Also many usb ports etc for desired purposes.Multichanger peripheral, Ipod connection, phone charger slot etc.

On second thought, I think I'll just put my radio in the living room.

If there's rain, wiper is pretty important for cockpit view. How else could you keep your vision? Kick out your windshield with your leg?
Ever taken off in an airplane with water on the window? After you get to a certain speed wipers are necessary as the water fly off by themselves.

On the other hand, wipers must deteriorate over time and leave streaks, car dash should stick and start making noises after a certain number of presses based on the quality of the material. Otherwise, GT5 sucks and they can keep dreaming about getting money from me. It's definitely not enough that it just simulates driving.

The Ferrari F-40 has roll up windows because powered-windows takes away form the car's performance. Too much weight. I assume other Ferrari models do that while the more luxurious models do not. Surely, though, you could ask them for powered-windows, but if you say nothing, get your arm muscles ready!

The Ferrari F40 doesn't have wind up windows, it has a section of the light weight plastic that slides sideways

I can't tell who's joking and who isn't now, but methinks some people expect to much.

They have to draw a line somewhere.

It's possible that they could impliment this into the real time adjustments menu... along with the brake bias, TC, ABS etc. At the top would be an option for the headlights and windscreen wipers.

The only problem with this is that too many options might get in people's way and some would complain that it was too fiddly, but it would be perfect for me as I always disable all driving aids.

I wasn't joking about the Street Fighter Dragon Punch button combo to switch on the wipers, they should definitely introduce special moves into GT5 somewhere.

JK ;)

Could be a problem with wet rally stages..

"Oh, my windshield is covered! Can't.. seee.. anything...

.. better turn on my wipers..."
