Okay, the patch worked alright. Not 100% translated but I'll do fine with this for now. I only had time to play one match last night so I couldn't tell much differences from PES5 to WE10. The movements are twicked a bit, and the shots to goal feel somewhat different too, but it hasn't changed a lot.

I played Brazil vs Barcelona on four stars, won 1x0 on a corner kick headshot. A good start. :D Now I must test it against the real enemies - my friends. :p

Ah, another thing: In the intro video Zico is showed a lot, yelling at his players. And at the very beggining there's something written in Portuguese, "Uma jogada pode mudar o mundo". It means something like "A play can change the world". Cool touch. :)

I've still got to apply that patch as well, I hope someone else takes the job up though. It's kinda lame that people were patching the games and then selling them on e-bay, thats why Fernando quit.

You know i've got that intro music stuck in my head for some reason.

has anyone come across this line in PES5:

Peter: So what did you think of that game Trevor?
Trevor: ....
Peter: Yes, thank you for that analysis.

also

Peter: So what did you think of the goal Trevor?
Trevor: For me it was the pass that split the defence. (but he scored from a free kick!)

Yes the commentary in PES5 is awful i must admit. Like when you score a free kick off the bar he says 'he's so unlucky, it came off the bar!' even though it went in.

Quick question for you WE9 experts.
I have WE7 for the PS2 and I love it. I was just wondering how much of a improvement WE9 is over WE7. Would it be worth buying the new game or should I just stick with what I got?

I think I have WE6 somewhere, should be fun to play just to see how different it was back then. But currently I'm playing the Nippon Challenge on WE10, four games already and four easy victories. There's some cool new falling animations, more life-like. Now you can select to have the player's name appearing above of him instead the usual 1 or 2. At least I don't think you could do that on the previous versions of the game. I think I'll play some more soon.

Nippon challenge? Bah i'm doing the international challenge, which is the same thing apart from I don't have to use Japan.

Also wtf fernando released a v3 patch and i've already inserted new balls and real emblems. I'm working on an audio patch myself now, hope I can be the first WE10 music patch. I've just got to figure out whats what in the 0_Sound.afs file :ouch:

El Gigante
There is a massive difference in gameplay between WE7 and WE9, and i would definitley go for WE9 :)
But how much of a improvement is it? Is it huge or is it just minor things like better control, more teams, more features, etc?

Hmm, he's still doing patches? I haven't checked WE websites after I got V2, but I think I'll use V2 until a full patch is released.

Nippon Challenge is cool, I just beat England on the semi-final and now I'll play vs France in the final game. It's cool to play because the team isn't very strong, the players are slow and they shot a ball like my grandma. Still, I have Takahara in the top scorer list with 8 or 9 goals I think. :)

I suppose it is just minor things like you said, but the gameplay is so much different.

I played WE10 a couple of times and I'm back to PES5. :indiff:
I can't believe how you guys didn't mention how crappy the players "feel" in this game. It's like, on that matter, the game went back a few generations.

I mean, where's the feeling that the players had some "mass" (resulting in a true sense of inertia) when they changed direction and even when there was contact between them?
In PES5, if you were running and wanted to stop and run in the opposite direction, players wouldn't do that straight away. They would reallistically slow down, smoothly change direction and then they would start running the other way. Not in this game. In WE11 they'll do that in a split second (like if they had no mass whatsoever) and with jerky movements, like the old games.

I may not have given the best example and I don't know if I expressed myself that well, but am I the only one noticing this?
I'm really disppointed and I would like to hear your opinion.

I thought the slow turning was due to having that horrible auto sidestep function that they added so they could keep the controls the same as the psp one.

To me it feels like WE9/PES5, but with the old style R2 sidestep back. I found that it was realy difficult to dazzle someone with some good dribbling in WE9/PES5 because that damn auto sidestep thing would constantly sidestep when I didn't want it to. In WE10 I can actually use players like Robben properly.

I'll have to check up on the turning thing though, is it when you are sprinting or just running at a normal pace?

I haven't noticed that either so far. My only complaint is that the game seems much easier.

Seriously, the Nippon Challenge only got hard at the quarter finals against Holland, before that I was winning every match by 5 goals or more. I only had a draw against Brazil in the first group, 3x3. But it's God damn Japan I'm using here! And on four stars! They're a crappy team, can't run, can't shoot and still I was scoring a lot of goals.

That aside, I'm liking this game a lot.

LOL. I just beat China with my ML team 12-0 on 1 star. That was tons of fun. Free training is incredibly hard in comparison.

There are some really cool (and weird) stuff to buy in the WE-Shop this time around. Different balls, like beach ball, watermellon ball, meat ball and stuff. Some costumes like penguins and stuff, besides the usual. Just to make the game a bit fun.

I don't think it's just that, although that's true.
I've played the game a bit more and with more attention, then came back to PES5. I'll try to explain better what I felt (forget what I said before):

- In PES5, after a player received a ball, you would have to wait for it to gain control of the ball properly (depending on the situation, obviously), and only then you could go on. Which was something I liked and thought it gave more realism to the game.
I think that now in WE10 the time of reaction of the players is again (too) quick, and the animations itself are also quicker, which - I think - it's a bit of a step back. And it's not just when receiving a ball. That includes changing direction and the result was that just having the ball in your possession was a lot harder.
(maybe that's the reason you're saying the game looks a lot easier now?)

- Regarding players interaction, it was very interesting in PES5 when two players were fighting for the possession of the ball. Sometimes one of them would even fall (with or without a foul), which was reallistic imo.
I haven't seen any of that in WE10 yet.

That's all for now. I think you got the idea.
Basically, it feels that they tried to please everyone who said PES5/WE9 was too difficult and had too many fouls which, ironically, was what I loved about it.

Wtf. I just whooped Barca's ass in a WEFA cup round, and when the final whistle blew, all my guys were doing nothing, and all of barca's team were throwing up their arms and celebrating a crap.

We have the same home stadium, but I destroyed them the entire tourney. Has anyone else had a team celebrate their loss? Hahaha.

100% sure. I beat them by 2 or 3 points each game.

LOL Maybe they are just really happy for you.
