JWRC Entry:
S2/FuturesPassed / Mini Cooper S '05

Also, I just fixed my tuning part problem with a full restore, so now my Peugeot 206 Rally Car is ready for competition!
Edit: Apparently, that didn't remove that part. I'll get another one in 73 in-game days, though.

Considering dropping this series, as I might have joined too many at one time. Oops.

So, are people getting excited on the first test rally? I can't wait to see what the Mitsubishi's got :)

I'm considering running a rally as a privateer in the JWRC ...

Only the WRC class has actual works cars but you're welcome to race :)

I've been testing and tuning my 207 for the last couple of days now. Marked down the test rally on my calendar - I'm almost ready to roll! Just got to sort out a tune for the snow now. :D

I've added more info on the times to the OP. Looking at the times it might take.. :scared:! If a small test rally takes the entire evening.. Then I don't know if the support classes aka JWRC and PWRC will survive..

I'm dreadfully excited :D I've been slow on GTP suddenly due to a CPU meltdown so I'm sort of out of the forum loop. I check it to catch up and reply if I have some minutes.

Long story short, I will be there. Thats 18:00 BST this saturday right? I have you and MrM as a friend on PSN, thats the place to be sending me messages for now. I have to hook the PS3 up still.. :indiff:

Quick Question: Are we only running Works during the test rally?

Quick Edit: Fastest Clean K Trail Lap: 3:45

Definitely! Though, I'm a bit worried that my Peugeot 206 isn't tuned up and ready enough to be competitive yet. Hopefully I'll have time between tuning up my cars for the Dodge Viper GT5 Invitational (I haven't started tuning this at all) and the Real Racing Sim RUF RGT Event (a quarter way through tuning here).

Dang, I just ran two laps there to see where I stacked up to that time so far, and the warm-up lap was 4:17.143 and the second one was 4:11.131, which means I've got quite a bit of tuning to do! I suspect most of what I need to figure out is my shock absorber compression/extension settings; those always seem to baffle me on pavement, and they're even more important in rally.

I think so, yes. And it will probably be so the entire season. Looking at how long it might take to do 2 STAGES WITH ALL CARS :scared:

In my Autocross, we had twenty cars run 10 runs (each) of a minute long course, it took three hours, because there was no overlap. Just release the cars in half-minute intervals.

I haven't even bought my Focus yet :nervous:

I'll get some practice/tuning done tonight hopefully.

Chances are it is the tune, all of our cars are equal in stats(nearly) I will say though, on gravel/snow, driving technique can make up for a bad tune. I honestly dont think my tune is all that great, whole lot of oversteer and overdrifting. I drive it alright so I go with it. 👍

I'm pursuing a 3:30 lap in my SRC. Getting under 4 was easy, shaving 15 seconds from 4 wasnt so easy. Shaving another 15 is going to probably impossible

I agree with the 30 second release interval. If we have a full field of 16 per class, it will take a minimum of 8 minutes to start all cars. On a 4 minute track(K Trail) the first driver will only wait 4 minutes for the last car, then we move to the next stage.

I dont think the overall racing should take too much time. Considering the timing will be done with the saved replay afterwards, we can completely ignore the timer on the screen.

We all test regs, enter track, start race, roll the recce lap all together, organize in quali order and stop before the line. One car at a time, 30 seconds, no funny business, it should be nice and smooth.

I have more ideas but this post is getting huge

Yeah, my car's specifically tuned to my standards; when I turn in one direction, I ACTUALLY want it to turn in the other. :dunce: Don't ask me how I did it, it works, and I'm quite fast with it. :sly: Something about oversteer... :dopey:

 something about oversteer is right. Must be our Evo's

Not quite. I think, that, because we aren't driving Subarus, we aren't prone to understeer. 👍

The Mitsubishis are always quieter, and more calm, whereas the Subarus skid their fronts a lot. It's always harder not to tell them "hey, monkey, you're skidding your front tires; buy a Mitsubishi," at Autocross.

👍

Edit: Back on track right quick. Keep the test rally to just works teams. If there's a couple free slots people in other divisions can spectate maybe. But if the test rally goes well, lets not get hasty and cut classes. Remember, I've volunteered to help with the post-race timing at least for JWRC to relieve the work.

Huh, I just checked the drivetrain settings on the Mitsubishi rally cars I have and I thought for sure they were equipped with active yaw control, but those are only on the road cars, apparently. I thought Mitsubishi developed that technology in rally racing.

I've got a good tune as far as aerodynamics and wheel angles (camber, toe) are concerned. Suspension travel (height, spring stiffness, and shock absorbers) is my weakness when tuning for off-road (my car handles wonderfully on the short bit of pavement on the K trail), and I'm losing overall grip because of it.

After tuning, I was able to knock my time down to 4:05.046 at the best. I've only run 8 attempts so far, though.

RallyMorten: Are you running a 206 or a 205?

It was always the plan to send cars out with a 30 second interval. The times in the OP might be a little overreacting but rather safe than sorry :) and I'm using the 206 :)

Alright 3:57, gonna be a big pain to get lose time. Not very good with tunes but here it goes.

The pavement is where my car completely falls to 🤬. For some reason the car suffers from extreme, severe speed wobbles. I really cant describe how violent the wheel shake is. I'm not sure if my wheel or the game. I just grip the wheel insanely hard and hang on

Does GT5 have an option for deadzone in the FFB menu? Can't remember.
If it does, set it to one or two.

it does not. It only has 3 options. I have it set to no power steering, Simulation, and FFB is 10(max) Its pretty limited really. It automatically detects and calibrates the wheel for 900 degrees but thats all.
