I was moving a wooden CD holder thing, and i got this nasty splinter. Lodged underneath my middle finger's nail, about halfway to the end of the nail (or the begining if you look at it that way.)

I hate splinters.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh........... that reminds me of the piece of wood on my (deceased) uncle's porch. a while back, i stepped off of the edge of the porch and my skin just ripped open. it was about an inch long and about 8 mm thick.:indiff: also that same day, i was playing darts(i was pretty young) lets just say the dart bounced off of the board and didn't hit the floor. :indiff:

Ouch to all.

So we're talking about injuries? One time when I was about 7, I had a little mini basketball, and a wire peg-bucket to use as the hoop. I went up for a "dunk" and slammed the ball downwards, unfortunately getting a piece of wire that was sticking out. This bit of wire went straight into my middle finger in the crook of the second knuckle, right up to the crook of the first knuckle (the one closest to the tip of my finger).

It didn't hurt too much at first, I was standing there just looking dumbly at my finger, then my Dad put cold water on it, and it started hurting like hell.

Trust me, folks, don't ever put cold water on an open wound - far from making the wound feel better, it actually causes pain.

Yeah splinters do suck I had that exact same thing happen to me once, helping my dad saw some tree branches

I think I have you beat Sandstorm. When I was also about 7 years old I was playing around in the living room with a friend(the game where you pretend like you can't touch the floor for whatever reason)and I steped on a glass table, thinking it could hold my wait. Well needless to say it did not, and resulted in a gash in my calf half way to the bone. It took 13 stitches to fix, and now I have a real nice scar from it.The wierd thing is that I didn't even know I cut myself intill I saw it,I guess cause I sliced all the nerve endings.

my turn again! :D a while back, 4th of july, my cousins were playing a game. my cousin threw his hat up in the air, and i didn't know what was going on. i went to catch the hat before my other cousin, and found out what the game was called. it was called "rockworks"(fireworks...get it? i did.:)) it hurt like an s.o.b when i got nailed in the head by a "rockwork"(if you didn't get it by now its a nice sized rock in a hat flying threw the air) i went to go get excedrin for my headache, and as i was walking to get some i touched my head and my hand was covered in blood instantly down to my wrist. needless to say, i had staples in my head, spent my 4th of july in the hospital, and told that if i fell asleep in the car on the way to the hospital i would die.

i was biking down teh hill about 2 years ago and i took a super fast turn it was a wet morning my bike went sideways touched the grass and my knee went down the hill schreeching the road.

Ahh, I can beat that - once at the local pool when I was about 10, I got sunburnt - hard!

I took my shirt off and lay on a towel for 3 whole hours with no sunblock whatsoever. A day later my whole back was literally one big blister, filled with pus. Of course, I do have to have extremely sensitive skin, don't I? :grumpy:

It's a wonder I don't have cancer right now. :D

Something like that happened to me too.

I was biking down a slight slope on the footpath and there was a turn in the footpath so I took it, only to get slippery in the dirt that was covering the path - river sand - and lose it. I slid off the bike, and my left knee got caught in between the bar and the ground. Somehow I managed to cut open the right side of my knee when the turn was a left hander and the left side of my knee was the part scraping along the ground.

Uh, i got bit by a dog when i was 7.. Took a nice chunk out of one of my legs. Big one too!

No scars, though. :)

Funny this is, i have scars all over my fingers + knuckles, but i have no idea what they're from.

And the war starts...............although that sunburn sounds tough to beet, but I think I can tie it. Ok when I was about 8 or 9 I was at my friends house doing something, cant't remember what, anyway my mom came over to get me to come home for dinner, and of corse I didn't want to go home.So on the way back I was on my bike so my mom was behind me, and like a smart azz I turned around to give her a dirty look and when I went to turn back my shirt got cought on the handle bar and I fell face first to the pavement bereaking my nose, and the handdle bar it self dident have any rubber on the grib and I landed on that with my stumic, witch went in about a inch. If it would have went in a few cms more I would of had interal bleeding.....It aint over yet eathier two days after that, while my nose was still wraped up , I decided to go and play spreed eagle with my friends(for those of you who don't know what spreed eagle is it's where you basicly throw a ball against a brick wall and try to hit someone with it)well you can probaly guess what happens next someone thowes the ball it comes back and smacks me in the nose knocking the bone back out of place, witch hurt like hell.

Ouch, all these sound like they hurt...I haven't had any serious accidents yet...luckily for me :)

But once when i was like 9-10 I tried to do a motorbike style turn on my BMX and well, it slid out from under me...that sort of hurt. Oh, I'm pretty clumsy as well...if i walk around the house without shoes i usually hit myself on the toe on a chair, or my knuckles catch the doorway...I'm a klutz...:dopey:

i removed my two front teeth by running full blast into a wood post that held up my back porch at my old house when i was...uh...7? didn't think i had that much blood in my system.

I stepped on a nail when I was a kid. It went all the way through my foot and was poking out the top side. Pulling my foot off was the worst part because I knew it was coming and I could see the nail disappear into my foot. My parents we so freaked out. Maybe more than me.

egh! nasty one there mile!
i've had my share of accedents...
when i was... 4.. my sister n i were playing hide n seek
then.. i sorta... kept my tongue between my teeth (and i was under blankets)
my sister jumped me (like onto the bed) forcing my head down
my tongue was almost chopped off by my teeth

and.. when i was..6
i did backflips from a window silll to a bed
then... i lost my footing, did the backflip, and landed the top of my head on the corner of a trolley.. my head was gushing blood.. haha

On the original subject of splinters, I once got a piece of oak floorboard about 8" long by 1/16">1/4" wide jammed in the back of my right thigh. We were doing a school play and in one scene I had to do a feet first slide, like in baseball. A piece of the stage came up and buried itself in me. It went right through my pants and pinned them to my leg.

I've also knocked my front teeth out on my motorcycle, concussed myself on a skateboard, buried the entire length of a straight pin into the meaty part of my thumb, gotten a metal splinter in my eyeball, stepped on a bolt that was rusted to a point on something underwater (went trhough my foot like milefile's, though I couldn't actually see it), and accidentally altered the fingerprints on about 4 of my fingers with various Xacto knives.

Never broken a bone, though.

Samething happened to me, but in the heel.

Luckily I had boots on and it only went a little way into my foot.

Although, When I lived in West Virginia I fell down a Hill that had shale as the surface. Tore a nice big chunk of skin out of my leg, about 5 inches long, half an inch wide and maybe half and inch deep.

Injuries eh?:mischievous:

I have had practically a lot of them.

I have cut my tongue in two, when I was running as a kid and missed a step.

I have bruised my chin, eyebrows, forehead, the last in which I bleed like hell, I almost pass out.

Scary stuff.

last summer i was cutting firewood and i was walking thought a brush pile with a band saw and the loop of my shoelace knot got caught on a banch causing me to fall and my right wrist to slide down the band saw blade ripping (not cutting) it open. i have a gash 3 inch long and maybe 1/4 or more inch deep. since i was in the moutains visiting my grandparents i decided to tape it shut becuase i hate doctors offices. now i have a nice puffy scarr on my wrist.

when i was 11 or 12 i fell off my bike and i landed face first in the road (thank god for the helmet) and my left front tooth when directly though my lip, tore a 1" by 2" peice of skin off my left hand (no skin left in that spot, almost needed a graph but it grew back), and did the same to my right knee as i did to my left hand. i hade to eat food by drinking out of a god damn straw (soup) and moty wash every time after i ate for a whole week until my lip healed enough. boy was that one fat lip;)

While I was saving the best for last. When I was 13 I got hit By a car breaking both bones in my right calf, one of witch came though the skin.I also broke my nose when I hit the winshild.needless to say I passed out for what I was told was about 10mins.When I came to I was laying face down in a ditch, whitch was in front of a church(wierd huh?)and all I could see was blood from my head.
That was the scariest thing that ever happened to my so for(knock on wood).I was in a cast for 2 months and in a brace for 1 mounth, and this happened at the end of march(yes my summer sucked)but considering I don't have any permanent scars and I'm still alive I think I was perty dam lucky:cool:

On the subject of Xacto knives, i had a few accidents with them. THey were both back when i was young and used to build models.

The first is a crazy one. I was working on a model of a bomber plane and found i had glued a part on wrong. It had long since been dry. I decided stupidly to grab my Xacto and cut TOWARDS my left hand. Needless to say, it slipped, and jammed into my thumb about as deep as it could possibly go without coming out the other side. I pulled the Xacto out and it was GUSHING blood. I freaked out and flailed my hand about, scattering blood across the walls.

Mom wasnt too happy.

The second one i can barely remember.. All i know is i was at my friends house working on yet another model when another Xacto slipped and jammed into my hand.

I'm not very good with Xactos.

The same exact thing happened to me except I didn't get a concussion out of mine.
I have two of my own.
One, was like five or so and I was skipping around my house like a ya know, five year old and took a chuck about the size of a marble out of my knee when I caught the corner of my pointy coffee table. I still have a scar to this day.
Two, this was just earlier this school year. I got part of my fingerprint on my right index finger burned of in a freak chemical accident in my chemistry class.
