Come to think of it, the word "baby" is like nails on chalkboard to me.

I love it when people say "Pronounciation", as I'm then allowed to be as smug as you please when correcting them.

Who'd have thought this thread would be so popular?

By the way, what's "eep"?

Scruttocks, burgeoning, that "plz" and "T.you" crap (along with all "TXT" abbrevs), foreskin, fontanelle, curmudgeonly, McCarthyism, "absolutely" when you mean "yes", Mohorivicic Discontinuity, badly-spelled trade names in an effort to be funny (you go, Chris :D - Kwik Save, Kwik Fit, Kite Kat), people who add the letter "s" onto shop names (e.g. "I'm going to Asda's/Tesco's/Matalan's"), viscosity, rimming, badly-spelled pop groups (NSync; B*witched; Mis-teeq; Motley Crue), "Sk8r" phrases - like "phat" and "sick" and last but not least, superfluous "z"s, especially in the wrong word "lazer" (it's an acronym, people...).

Oh, and American spellings ("Color", "Tires", and the alteration of -ise words to -ize :D)

eep is not a word, but it is occasionally spoken to signify submssion or fear.

ps. i hate the word baby also.

*cough* sixlinesignaturerule *cough*

I also hate Pig-Latin, except for an excerpt from South Park:

"Kyle: Yeah, so you gotta bust outta here! So we made you this cake! (shows the cake to Cartman which reads "Get Out Soon Cartman".) There's an ailnay ilefay inside of it!
Cartman: A what?!
Kyle: An ailnay ilefay!
Cartman: What's that?!
Kyle: Listen, aggot-fay! An ailnay ilefay so you can eakbray out of ison-pray!
Stan: Yeah, you stupid umbass-day!
Cartman: I'd love to eat a cake, y'guys, but they don't let us take anything back to the cells from here!
Kyle: They on't-day?! Why the ellhay otnay?! It ooktay ourfay ours-hay to ake-bay this oddam-gay ake-kay, and owthray awaynay the ums-cray!"

that was a good episode.

Some excellent points there Famine, although I like "viscosity"! Not as much as "voluptuous" though, that one's a close second to "tussock".

In relation to "lazer", I'd also like to add the term "acronym" being applied to any multi letter abbreviation irrespective of whether or not it forms a word.

Fontanelles make my skin crawl. Ick.

Irregardless. It's not a word. The word is regardless.

Orientated. Also not a word; the real word is oriented.

Simular instead of similar.

I toldly hate those words.

How about when someone uses "compatible" when they mean "comparable"? It's like fingernails on a blackboard for me. It's also a depressingly common misuse of the word. :irked:

Congradulations. I can't believe how many poeople write that. Have they never seen "Congrats!" on a card? Or maybe it has to do with the fact that it was probably a graduation card, and they are just confused?
I absolutely hate that too. And it's not even pronounced with a "D", unless you're my Honors English teacher, who seems to always pronounce "T"s with a "D"... (Impordant!)

Actually, my biggest problem with the office is that in this wonderful country of ours, you cannot sack someone for being unable to do their job...

staff have to try 4 times as hard to get fired than they do TO GET THE FU###ING JOB !!!!!

i hate it when you have mis-laid something and someone asks: Where did you lose it ? HOW THE F##k SOULD I KNOW.... ??? or when you go into a restaurant and they ask : Table for two ? .... oh wait... let me count ... one... fu##ing ...two.... YES ... YOUR RIGHT !!!

sorry... really annoys me...

Fancy: "Would you fancy another drink?"

I don't know why, but it just gets on my nerves.

I also hate stupid euphemisms. I never even noticed how stupid some of them were until I heard George Carlin talking about them in a comedy special and now I notice them all the time and they get on my nerves.

Some examples that Carlin gives are:
Toilet Paper-Bathroom Tissue
Information-Directory Assistance
Car Crashes-Automobile Accidents

-Mark

another euphemism i dislike...
Died - passed away

more stuff that bothers me:
yo, wassap h0miez? how ya'll doin? newyz, I was jus chek1n up on diz thread. got some l33t shizzle goin on here nd i jus wanted ta say w00t...lolz...
d@mn...! CaNt tH!nK 0f @n3tH!ng else to add to tihs. maybe Directory Assistance will be a good ideaa? wloud aynobdy fancy congradulating me on my comment?

daamn...all i can say is i gave myself a headache just trying to type that crap. I'll NEVER do that again...EVER. I have an exam tomorrow so, just another reason to never give myself a headache again.

I have this teacher that when he talks I can't hear anything... It would be a little better at least if when he would talk it would sound like that character on peanuts... wah wah wah, but oh well... anyways, I hate it when he uses obscure, nebulous, tensegrity. :banghead:

Yeah, that's annoying as heck. A simular one is "compulsive" instead of "compelling" - I don't know how many book jackets I've seen telling me that something is a "compulsive" reading experience, when you'd figure a bloody literary editor should know the difference.

"Alright."

"Alot."

Hey losers? Learn to spell. Or jump off a bridge.

the use of 4 instead of for, 2 instead of to or too, u instead of you and all that ****.
all the rapper/Eminemish kinda stuff, like all those mentioned before... Yo, phat, dawg, dat, and such stuff. also, dood, roolz, and anything else that has two Os instead of a U when it shouldnt.
the ZZZ at each word, just like one member around here, who, by the way, drifts...
hahaha, now that I think about it, the word drift gets on my nerves. its SO overused. :irked:
and also, when they put apostrophes like in car's, place's, corvette's and things like that.

Cano

hahaha, on a twist, a rather stupid one, I like "teh"

Agreed :D

The greatest single word on the planet is "Plinth".

Go up to a woman (preferably one it is legal to fancy if you aren't in Utah) and get her to carefully and slowly say the word "Plinth"...

Hey dumbass, "Hey losers" is not a question, and "Or jump off a bridge" is not a sentence. Learn how to write.

The "sentence" was the end of a sentence, thats why there was a period, look again. ;)
