Now, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so ugliness has to be aswell, but that doesn´t matter. What do you think is the ugliest racecars in the world? It can be poor design, ugly paintjobs, or just plain overall crap, you decide!

Maybe we can post, say three cars per person, and have a poll sometime in the future.

I know this sounds a bit immature, but I thought it would be funny, especially since there are a whole lot of really ugly racers out there. :dopey:

Here´s my take (in no particular order):

The Mosler Intruder from 1995.

The designers must have been on drugs or something!
-We better make room for the engine, as it ´s gonna have the coolers on top of it!

The Chaparral 2J as made famous (again) in GT4.

Chaparral has made other really ugly cars, like 2H, but I picked this one.
It looks like something that keeps your house clean, not a racecar.

The Renault Alpine 442B from 1978.

If Donald Duck was going to drive a racecar, it would look like this! No wait, this would be Black Pete´s car. Donalds would be the open top "A" model.

The 1995 McLaren F1 car was pretty heinous:

It's the third wing that does it.

Other notable examples of bad F1 designs are the 2004 Williams' "Walrus Nose", Honda's failed 2007 "Elephant Ears" and now Red Bull's 2008 "Shark Fin". Ever notice how they name everyhting after animal parts?

Special mention also goes to the first BAR with its dual livery. I have no idea how Jacques Villeneuve and Ricardo Zonta managed to sleep at night when they were promoting two brands of cancer sticks.

Ermm, and the driver's field of view is where on that thing!?

The Mosler Intruder is beautiful compared to its previous side-model, aka, the Raptor....

I actually thought it the other way around... but of two bad things...

I don´t think he can see anywhere except straight ahead. But it does have sidemirrors. And a chimney. Or is it a chimney? Maybe it´s a look-out-tower...

Want a good way to loose your a lunch, just take a look at this. It is the Bugatti T251 that raced only once at the French GP in 1956. Looked like a pig, was less reliable than a drunk surgeon, and handled worse than a lorry with dead bodies wrapped around it's axles. Yes, what a fabulous piece of crap this was!

I think it looks cool, but then I'm like that.
Still, even though I usually don't think of cars as "ugly", I can understand when they have a very odd design. The chapparel (can't spell for my life) is obviously strange, but I don't think it's necessarily ugly. I can see how people would think that though. The Bugatti looks a tad weird but I really like it's looks.

Ensign N179 (seen like this for only one race, the 1979 South African GP):

How the heck does the throttle linkage work on the Adams Escort Can-Am?

I give up: Early 1980's Can-Am cars tend to win the ugly contests.

The thing is... Back in the old days they didn't have the tech & tools of today so they were limited with what they could do. Even then I commend them for exploring so much even if it was ugly. On the other hand we got the modern day daytona prototypes and THIS is the only crap they could come up with?! FAIL

Other than that, sorry. Ugly racecars do not exist. Even these are interesting. And I very much like the Renault Alpine 442B, thank you.

Oh, they´re interesting allright, no arguing there! But it can still be ugly IMO. The Xylon looks like a baseballcap!

...true but they're still ugly.

I like the 2J,but that's because it's so unique.

The Renault Alpine looks like donald Duck had a threesome w/ a car and a Hydroplane boat racer.

The Ensign N179 looks like it has an escalator as a nose.

Just have to have a look around the revived Can-Am series and some of the Interserie stuff. They're mostly Formula cars with attempts at full bodywork.

"shakes head at V1P3R" Where's your design?:sly: You don't know ugly until you've seen these:

Who in hell finds this "cute", drunks?

The designer needs to be slapped for this abomination

Death to these damn things. The DPs are Actually fast, these are turtles.

Sorry Giovanni, but this could have looked so much better.

This is what happens when you let someone other then Reiter or JLOC make a Lamborghini Race car.

Wait wait... ur asking me where's my design yet you post a Mini and a Lambo. lol

It's more like I should be asking YOU that. :P

This VP Commodore is ugly, simply for the livery.

And whether it be road going or race prepped, the AU Falcon has to be one of the worst looking.

I sat there for a minute trying to figure out which way that thing was going :P

Anyway, I'd nominate Casey Mears (Formerly Kyle Busch's) Kellogs #5, the yellow and blue is fine, but the red and all the sponsors made it look awful.

CM-CARQUEST-L.jpg

(Real car has twice as many sponsors, most were taken off of this die cast due to licensing issues I believe.)

Chris.

Well, it was you that asked me for a drawing compitition so I was curious:sly:

Ah thanks for that. I didn't think it was a Mazda built car. There is a very large variety of the old group c/gtp cars and I only know mostly the main manufacturer cars. Its good that people still run the cars too.

(responding to post 20) Really, RACECAR? That scarlet LMP looked gorgeous.

eoc16.jpg

I don't know; it just looks strange... it is a Connaught.

I think the question here is not if the cars are ugly, but the liveries.

Or a air vent?
