Wow. How hard is it to figure the difference between .002 dollars and .002 cents? Apparently, it's too difficult for Verizon. I'm surprised that he kept his composure like that because I would certainly begin to be irritated after talking to three people and explaining the same concept over. I hate math but recognize the problem is that of improperly changing units. I hope he gets that straightened out.

i would have gone samuel L jackson on their asses :D
"Do you or do you not understand basic math mutha&&*a?!" Say what again!! i double dare ya!!

Wow. It's really not that hard. I'm sure there was at least one computer connected to the internet in that building where they could go to Google and type .002 cents * 35,893 and come up with the answer 0.71786 U.S. dollars which translates into 71 cents.

I love Cingular. Around this time last year, our phone bill was $1700. I had made several very long phone calls and the entire time I was roaming. There was no indication on my phone that I was roaming, and our plan did not say anything about roaming. We called Cingular up and explained to them that we had no idea that we were roaming and our plan didn't say a thing about it, and they basically said "Oh ok, we're sorry. We'll change your bill to your regular $70."

Un friggen believable,

Let me explain if you couldn't get it....... .002 cents = 1/100th of a penny, or .0002 dollars. To put it in easier terms, .25 cents equals 1/4 of a penny, .25 dollars equals 25 cents. They are truely retarded and can't do math lol.

Here's another easier way to see it. Burger King had a deal where the Whopper was .99 cents so a dude walked in, asked the limit, they said it was 5, so he gave them 6 cents and said that should cover the whoppers and tax. He explained the difference between the .99 cents and the .99 dollars and she gave him the burgers and took a sharpie and took off the cent sign and penned a dollar sign in front of it. $.99 =/= .99 cents, they are different by a factor of 100. $.99 is 100x more expensive than .99 cents.

And here is a follow up with a different system that they also messed up.

I would TOTALLY SUE THEIR ASSES!!

I'm suprised he stayed so calm. Those people were totally clueless!

When I worked at the supermarket years ago, they liked to make signs that said

.99¢

I pointed it out every time at first, since there's so many penny pinchers in South Florida, but management insisted it was correct for years and year. How damn stubborn can you be?

Class-action lawsuit?
Nah. It was a marketing mishap from my understanding. Their intended rate was $0.002, but for whatever reason, their marketing department or someone came up with 0.002c. It also doesn't help that their csr's probably need to be screened for a high school education or something

No, I was suggesting the lawsuit. Haha.

Actually, if you go look at consumerist.com, a verizon executive finally refunded him, but said the rate is really intended to be $0.002, or ¢0.2.

Makes you wonder why Customer service people are in customer service...

I have to say I'd have probably lost my rag with them, it's funny listening to how stupid some people are. The mistake was glaringly obvious, they just couldn't see it.

Verizon's customer service is crap. They failed to quote us some activation charges when we (my fiance and I) signed up for long distance and such. When we inquired about the charges, they went back and checked the conversation, since they record it. We were never quoted the activation charges, yet they insisted we pay them. This was after 3 hours of trying to get someone that had half a clue about what they were talking about.

Regrettably, neither of us had the time to keep discussing it with their people.

And this guy is a big moron (the Verizon rep) And the lady more so I think.

Trust me, I've dealt with Verizon for years, and they're nothing but 'monkey nut-sacks.'

I tried to give them my money, and they wouldn't take it. (Tried to get a faster download speed with DSL).
