How do i put this? Where is your hand brake? Which button do you use to actually use hand brake?

Do you mean what is the button for the handbrake or what button do we prefer?

If you're asking which button it is, it's the X button on the demo. If you're asking which button I prefer, I like to use the circle button as my handbrake. :)

I don't know much about the previous 2 games, as I've never played them. But 3 looks as though it'll end up on my "To buy" list in the next couple of month. I've exhausted all the fun I could get out of DiRT 3, and I'm hoping it'll be decent enough to take over from that.

Might try the demo later to get a taste actually.

I use a controller and map to the X.

You think like a pirate! Arr!

Since you and I have similar relationships to rally racing games, I suggest you do it and be taken away by the surprising differences in the game.

Codemasters still have one of the best looking menus I've ever used. The "TUH!" sfx used in WRC3's menu just sound like it's from a '90s PC game; outdated.

Well i was trying to figure out which is better for me. Using one of the wheel buttons to hand brake or maybe it would be better to use Gear Knob, pulling it towards myself. where 4th gear is and this starting to works great.

Since i rarely use that know, almost not at all so wont hurt it to work with something.

I think this is going to be a great game. Looking forward to its release.

Anyone knows if it will support H-Pattern shifters? It just won't be right sequential shifting a Peugeot 504.

Sorry about the video, the TV is way overexposed. I think the stage time was 4m 29s. I read some of you guys are doing 4:05 - 4:08s? Incredible. Sure, I only did a few tries but still I can't see how I'd even get close to those times.

Great video. One question.

What is that leaver you are using for hand brake. And how is it works with G27 on ps3?

So I've just played the demo, here's some thoughts:

Physics: A massive improvement. Steering input isn't lazy like it was with the first games and the cars actually feel like cars. Its a strange mix between Dirt and GT physics (to me anyway) so I've had to relearn the e-brake and getting the power down. Other then the multiple failed attempts at the stage (which at this point is a staple in my side when it comes to rally games), I actually like it.

Graphics: Love them alot. Looked at the trailers and thought "pfah, more BS marketing" but they actually look great for once.

Sound: Massively improved as well (though I would've loved the whisling to have been abit more overpowering). Backfire is just amazing, its abit more sharp then Dirt 3 and that had some amazing backfire sounds

My only concern so far is that (and this is just me saying this) I think they may be resorting to slight tactics stealing from the Dirt Series. Now for anyone who's played Dirt, tell me how familiar these two sound:

Crash & Run
Drifting challenge

Obviously this is just the demo but the way they presented the Road to WRC portion, it just screams Dirt (and ironically, I just got Dirt Showdown for my birthday) so thats abit strange and slightly discerning. Looks like when Blackbean isn't involved, Milestone can make a great game.

Downloading the demo right now, which is the obvious thing for me to do before I go out and buy it. Here's hoping it's as good as you guys make it out to be.

I won't be giving it a go until tomorrow though. Not really up to gaming with the cold at the moment.

The "TUH!" sfx used in WRC3's menu just sound like it's from a '90s PC game; outdated.

My ears are ready. :p

Where can you download the demo?

It's currently in the PlayStation Store. Free, of course.

Is it on PC?

That's what I initially meant.

Thanks. Here's my handbrake.

It's connected to the "O" button on the G27 shifter.

The sequential shifter is connected to the paddles of the G27 steering wheel.

Great, so basically you disassemble/dismantle your G27 and somehow hooked up that Leaver to the O button. Clever idea. 👍 I think i ask Google to find me some schematics.

For UK residents only, there's a competition for the fastest stage time in the demo. The prize for the fastest time is an official WRC playseat, worth over £300! For more details about the contest, you can visit the website here.

All you guys posting your times could have a chance of winning a free playseat! I would take a shot at this contest, however I have no room for the seat if I won it. :indiff:

Could send it too me? I'll pay postage :sly:

Time to beat 3.57.46 although it's not official UK record but WR. So good luck. Stage Time made not with any wheel but controller. So i guess this game gives you better stage times with DS3 and camera placed behind car, because of that you can react quicker.

Those guys are quick. Superb Driving

Finally got around to download and play the demo and i'm very impressed it's hard to master but i'm having loads of fun trying to better my times, and that's the perfect mix for me.

It's come a long way from the first WRC, co-driver is worlds apart from the previous and the graphics are very improved, the stages in the demo are tight and long which is sometimes i've been craving since the DIRT series let me down.
It's actually hard to believe this is made by the same company who made the first game, it's a massive improvement.

Can't wait for the full game and might be be a day one for me.:)

That was very quick...and with mistakes too.

I'm not sure if the game rewards one system or style over the other thoug, at least I hope not. I know a sim-fan who oddly enough still uses chase cam and steers with the direction buttons, because that's what he finds best. He has built up so many thousands of hours with that system and is fast enough to beat wheel users on a regular basis.

We shall see for our selves very soon...

Alan at VVV has been posting more WRC stages on his channel. I don't think this one has been put up here yet.

NZ - lighting quality is lower in this vid as he has some issue with the camera and is running at a lower saturation rate.

That looks like a really challenging stage, and extended too 👍 I'm so glad the stages aren't just the ones created for the first two games, but actually representative of the WRC stages. It really adds to the immersion.

Looking really good.

Anyone know what version Alan is using in his vids? Could be any with that particular wheel.

He mention of press release early version, not the final game.

Already i know how good tarmac rallies are going to be. And also I'm really eager to drive some of those previous 2.0 liter engine WRC cars. Monte Carlo rally, Sweeden, Finland. Those classic never get old!

I have the demo downloaded a week ago, it's quite good, but one minor thing, why does the brake and gas act almost like an on/off switch, brake easily lock the wheel, while not much an issue with gas. I am using the same stick controller to play GT5, and I can modulate the brake and gas in GT5 perfectly 0-100%. If the final release have a decent gas/brake like in GT5, instant buy for me.

I think he's on the PC version and it would seem that he has a pre-release copy of the game now. I say this as the previous version he put out there for us was limited to certain tracks and now he's doing more - that is just a guess though.

As I was expecting:
A look at one of the longer stages on offer, these combine sections from several stages in creating a greater challenge and are a welcome additon.
Well, that answers my question he seems to have completely ignored in one of his videos. Pretty much the way Codemasters handled it with DiRT3, but slightly better. Maybe I'm justing demanding way to much of this generation's rally games.
