I cant find the demo for this game, do you need ps plus to get it or something?

edit: For ps3 sorry if this is in the wrong section.

 Guess it's all on me then! And yeah, I will wait till the game releases until getting into specifics about how to host it etc. so we can see what options we have at our disposal! :)

I'd be happy to help out organising too! So as long as school doesn't sweep me off my feet and make me far too busy... :indiff:

Some rules you can set would be restricting certain Aids if it does give a ridiculous advantage, post time, be ready to submit proof if questioned. I will try my best to provide tips like I have with any driving game I've been proficient at, so it'd be great if you guys did the same.

Getting far better times now with my own controller settings - still nowhere near jcm or Hyland however...

I'm having a blast with the demo. I'll definitely be buying this game once it comes out. I'll have to import it, but it'll be more that worth it ;)

It'll also help me pass the time waiting for NFS: Most Wanted :p

So close! 4:06.88

I was about 2.5s back after sector 2, made up 2s in sector 3, lost 1.5s in sector 4 (mistake & general slowness) gained some time back in the final sector, and then crashed at final corner/gate :p. That means 4:03s are possible, and perhaps Loeb could even get a 3:59.9!

Once we can adjust setups the times would also drop a lot, if only because of gear ratios. I never even enter 6th all stage.

For the online, I'd rather do 1 or 2 rallies a week online in the ghost mode, as not only would people not be able to cheat, it'd make it a bit more real (and fun) then just time trials.

EDIT: 4:05.63 :D I posted a pic in my GTP photo album, don't know how to link it since I'm on mobile, and maybe I'll go faster still :) I kinda zoned out during the run, and it wasn't perfectly clean either. Hit two bollards, and five fenceposts (all at different spots), but otherwise it was pretty good (no damage and no wall touches :D)

(Some technique stuff: I only used the handbrake once (at the corner where co-driver tells you to, and messed up that corner anyway  ). All aids off, bumper cam, had one scare after the third big jump in a row, had a wheel hanging over the edge but I was sideways enough to power out no problem. Also, I was listening to Rise Against's 3rd album (Siren Song of A Counter Culture) while driving, and it seemed to help :p.)

Cheating still happens in the online lobbies; extreme shortcuts mostly - though if a TT single stage ghost gets downloaded, it shows the path, brake points etc used by that driver; so even if you lose sight of the ghost, their path remains on the road.

It's a fairly good system and I think has cut down on the amount of cheating in general.

But if cheating happens in an online lobby everyone will see the ghost cheat, and he can be disqualified or penalised however the GTP hosts feel is necessary, right? I've never really played any rally game before, so I have no idea how the online works, but it seems to make sense in my head, so it's probably wrong :p. But still, I think it would a lot of fun as you'd only have one shot at it. I have no idea if that makes sense though as I have no idea what is normal in rally games online. In my mind it's like a single player full rally (6-7 stages) without having the ability to restart, and you start at the same time as everyone else? Fastest overall time wins? Maybe? I'm too confused now

So far it seemed to me like there wasn't really a way of cheating in that stage, though I didn't intentionally cheat to check yet, but the ghost-back-to-track system for going to far off track seemed to work pretty well 👍 I just love this game so much, never had that before with a game before, so much fun :)

Posts get long when you have no idea what you're talking about

Ok, compared to everyone else here I am rather useless, only a 4:33.xxx best time, and is rather frustrating than fun, plays nice though.

True, I've called a couple of players out like that - they tend to desist after that or leave the room and go elsewhere. Not sure about the ability to kick, as I've never hosted a lobby yet :)

If it's just the GTP group, then no worries.

Your idea sounds good though - nice work.

Delayed steering response. Why!?

It's going to take probably 8 hours to full adapt to the feel of this game. When I steer a little, I get no response, when I steer a little more, I get big response. Ugh!

Got 4:19.23 in a few tries. Are you guys riding any grass?

Try setting Steering Dead zone to 0 and Steering Linearity in the middle 50/50 so basically just turn off Dead zone and don't change Linearity, works for me just like a charm 👍 Steering response is sharp and exact.

I didn't see any options for that. I'm playing on a controller so maybe that's why. I'll check again the next time I play.

Well i know it's obvious but with the wheel this DEMO gains this fidelity / rigor / faithfulness thoroughness and I'm not thinking about steering it self but rather fun factor. How much smile it is on face that can't be compare to pad feeling.

Literally can't wait. From the moment i saw Picture showing Leon and Chris pointing guns one each-other i was thinking. OH yeah!!!! this is my game of this Year, widely announced and supported by huge marketing and advertisement. A lot of in game movies and stuff.

But no! I will play Resident Evil 6 but WRC 3 is Christmas coming weeks before real one. 👍

Ohh and by the way i was playing WRC 2 lately a lot and I've learn how to use hand brake, finally! So after good practice I'm in that 4:05.x club now. It's so intense :)

Hot Pursuit 3 taught me about using handbrakes. Started incorporating it more in other games, like The Run, DiRT3, GT...in the case of WRC, it was from DiRT 3.

One question thought in that subject.

How do i put this? Where is your hand brake? Which button do you use to actually use hand brake?

I've found that 4th gear on gear stick is so far best solution for me. While i am using paddles behind wheel to change gears and to use hand brake i have to set it in options under 4th gear. Best solution I've found so far. The problem is this is not real brake like in cars. Where you can use less strenght or more to apply more pressure to completely lock up rear wheels.

This is just lock up / unlocked. So it's not precise as i would like it to be.

I've gotten used to it thanks to Hot Pursuit 3; I use the square button on the pad and feel out its strength by how long I hold the button down for. Usually for hairpins, I slow down with service brakes and then swing hard and do a hard press, where it's not a quick tap, but not "holding" it down either.

Finland stage

Looks a little better visually. Finland stages look like they're still fairly plain and boring. Where's all the yumps?

The rest of the stages look great. Any news on PC demo?

The visuals are a lot, lot better. The sun glare at Finland is a nice touch too, and I noticed the sun strip on the cockpit view actually works and blocks out the glare. Can't wait for this to be released. 👍

Yeah, agreed that Finland looks 1000% better thn previously. Argentina too with all of that shadow, reminds me of Australia in DiRT and WRC 2 also.

I'm really annoyed that when the game gets released I'll be apart from my PS3...and so won't be able to play this until early November. Oh well.

Sorry I can't really help, I use a controller and map to the X.
