Ok guys, Here's something that needs to be looked at, I've looked into beating a certain friend's lap time on OPERA Paris who uses an STi, I've tried almost 20 different cars/setups, the only one i can beat it with is using the exact same car...

So What will compete with a WRX Sti, Spec-C?
Please include some facts as well as things you've tried to beat an Sti in situations?

From my experience The Sti is "The Beast of the AWD World" and as far as I've tested its the "ONLY" king on the hill, from its outrageous amount of torque to its Rally/drift(which I love) style handling.

Please help me Reverse this thinking.

Thanx :)

Limit:
TIRES - Medium SPorts, a.k.a. (S2), a.k.a. (SM) a.k.a. Stock Production car tires!!

Honda NSX-R '02.

Or look into the GT4 Arcade Mode test thread I posted a couple of days ago. There's a list of standard arcade mode vehicles and their times as acheived by a very-nearly-peak B-Spec driver on Trial Mountain. The Impreza SpecC isn't on the list as, at the time I wrote it, I hadn't tested it yet but it managed a 1'43 yesterday. Anything quicker than that is a good bet to try.

I dont believe the NSX has got anyting on the WRX not with the major torque difference.

I see why you've not got "counting" listed as one your skills. :sly: I count 8 lines....

Famine and daan have both been polite in the request regarding your signature.

Six lines of text is not a target to try and get close to, its the maximum signature length here at GTP, please amend it as you have been asked.

In regard to it being on or off topic, you have now had three mods ask you to change the sig, had you do so straight away this thread would be back on topic by now.

It your call

Standard or tuned (if tuned, what level of tune)?
Any restrictions on car type (you said "The Sti is "The Beast of the AWD World" ", but can other drivetrains be used?)?
Any restrictions on price?

What kind of laptime do you do with the sti?

1'21.00 W/a NOS SHOT

ok, around 500hp,
Medium tires,
Any Drivetrain u want
no price restrictions.. (Production Car)

Sock for stock the NSX-R is a faster car on most tracks, I'd have to fire GT4 up to see them both at 500bhp.

You could tune up lots of cars to keep up with that. Try an Elise 111R or a BMW M3.

BTW The mods are here to keep the peace and make sure everything stays in order. If you are breaking a rule (no matter how trivial) they will ask you to stop. Arguing them is not a good idea.

I do like the NSX as a competitor, However, the Torque difference is too much to overcome as well as the AWD Drivetrain :(
Test em out and get back to me.

Tried the M3 i dont think it stands even a remote chance as well as the MotorSport Elise which both got stomped :(. Put some numbers on the board and see what u got with these cars..

fully tuned 3000gt's quick but i don't know if it would handle aswel on the ned tyres, but its worth a shot. Other than that i'm not sure

Quick question, was it Opera Paris forward or reverse, I'm assuming forward?

Actually, i used the 3000gt VR-4, it did well considering its insane amount of torque, as well as the extra weight helped in braking, But it still couldn't get below the dreaded 1'25.00 :(

Let me help everyone aswell, if you are running an average of 1'30.00 with a decent lap, the car "WILL NOT" succeed in this challenge trust me haha.. or dont and prove me wrong :) if your around 1'25'00 thats where u want to be.

MasterDriver
I know. :) dont worry about the mods anymore
With an attitude like this, I'd say you better worry about the mods:
MasterDriver
no offense but get a grip i'm just at work trying to bull**** alittle about GT, Geez people Its down to 6 now relax..
Duly noted that you are trying to get back on topic - but I recommend showing a little more concern when rules violations are pointed out to you.

I can get 1'28 with a 20% power increased Lotus Esprit, I'll try something tuned in GT mode now, with closer to your 500bhp limit.

yea, like i said earlier... if your averaging around 1'30 u need a different set up. or a different car, more so the latter.

FYI: The time was hit in GT Mode (Practice)

I'll have to try another time, I don't have enough virtual money at the moment to experient with cars I don't virtually have.

(I restarted not to long ago you see, corrupt mem card)

So..., out criteria is: 500 horsepower is [around] the limit with R3's , am I correct? Are we doing this B-spec or by normal people testing? \

Edit:And secondly, by "around" 500 hp, does 9 over matter too much?

I will return. ;)

9 over doesnt matter id say.. lol and SPORTS - MEDIUM are the tires.
You can do b-spec if u want, This was done in a-spec though.

Based on the amount of drift control you need to achieve this time, I'd say B-Spec wont be able to do it.

ahh man im' sorry, bummer. if i could send u my card i would :-/

I've gone into my master file and noticed that the stock Impreza SpecC managed a 1'42.200 around Trial Mountain in the hands of my B-Spec driver, Pestilence.

Factoring in the power-to-weight ratio and the scope for tunability (a 500hp car pulling a 1'41 won't be any use to you), the following cars are potentials:
Amuse S2000 R1 (very strong candidate)
Opera S2000 (very strong candidate)
Ruf 3400S (strong candidate)
Shelby Series 1
TVR T350C
TVR Cerbera Speed Six

The Nike 1 is a good bet too, if it can be tuned. It's really devastatingly fast - faster than a Ford GT with half the power...

Does your friend employ a wing on his Scooby?

AMUSE - Not Production car
Opera S2000- Not Production car
Ruf S2000 - Possibly but this needs to be tested
TVR's - I doubt it.. worth a try though

Possibly but not a production car :-/, although i still dont think it can out handle the WRX around opera

no

Also keep in mind the Amount of torque at work here in the STi. over 300ft/lbs STOCK!! I'm not sure if power 2 Weight Ratio counts torque. The track being Opera Paris(FWD) not Trial Mountain also impacts your numbers.

EDIT: Btw just for a tease, the SUBBY has hp in the mid 480s.

Mind me asking why? The TVR's are devastatingly quick, come to think of it, two races at Capri and I can buy and tune a Cerbera or T350C, I'll be back with my results.

Awesome, Prove me wrong!! Just remember if your averaging 1'30 or above u need a NEW car lol, trust me!

Torque is irrelevant. Power is torque multiplied by time - so long as you have the power and the right gearbox settings, torque can bugger off.

heh, i'm not so sure that is correct. but hey i'm already doing the challenge this is for everyone else to attempt aswell. I'd like to meet the lovely STi Killer that someone tests. Cause its kinda lame to break a record with the car that set it, cause I cant seem to find one that will match it :( ... lol.

Let the Games continue!!

MasterDriver
heh, i'm not so sure that is correct.

Torque = Mass x distance = lbft.
Power = Mass x distance / time = lbft/s = hp.

Opera is a flat track with very little prolonged acceleration. Correct gears >>>> pots of torque.
